They'd never fit a budgie in there!

AlieOxon Thu 11-Aug-16 08:52:17

When are the broomstick races?

GandTea Thu 11-Aug-16 08:53:07

Oh yes you can (I hope it doesn't peck)

Maggiemaybe Thu 11-Aug-16 08:54:26

Now that's strange, GandTea. I was just saying to my BFF (via Skype, from behind the medical supplies cupboard) that my new facial oil seems to be working. My skin is definitely glowing. You don't think it could be somehow related to the axle grease, do you? Though the symbol just looks like a fan to me - perhaps it's good for stuck rotor blades?

Many thanks to whoever left the bottle of Rose's lime cordial in front of the support stockings btw. I appreciate the witty nod to the colour of the diving pool, but you could have left a bottle of gin to go with it.

Pittcity Thu 11-Aug-16 08:58:20

Hope they didn't have to grease up the budgie..... shock

GandTea Thu 11-Aug-16 09:20:52

Could it be all those greased up budgies that have turned the water green ?

GandTea Thu 11-Aug-16 09:22:49

I was to enter the single marbles competition, but I've lost my marbles shock, has anyone found them or got some spare I could use.

Mumsy Thu 11-Aug-16 09:43:09

No you didnt lose them GandTea you couldnt bend down to pick them up grin

obieone Thu 11-Aug-16 09:52:03

Great news Granny23!

AlieOxon Thu 11-Aug-16 10:02:54

Wot, NO broomstick events?

Tizliz Thu 11-Aug-16 12:40:16

GandTea I think you have been cooking with that 'grease' and it is having a strange effect on you. I am having to join the dash for the loo team after reading this.

GandTea Thu 11-Aug-16 13:00:22

The sailing team have been found safe and well. They mistook the canoe slalom course for the sailing lake and ended up 5 miles off Copacabana beach, rescued up by two hunky blokes on a pedalo. They are recuperating after their grueling experience. (that's their story anyway)

Jalima Thu 11-Aug-16 13:04:32

AlieOxon the cats weren't too keen on travelling to Brazil, so no entries this time sad, despite gold, silver and bronze at the London Olympics.

annodomini Thu 11-Aug-16 14:12:48

We don't need our cats for our Quidditch play-off against the Mumsnet team. I'm adding some Superstart to my jet-propelled broomstick so Rio, here I come.....Sorry, I meant Rio, here I AM! Ok, where am I?

AlieOxon Thu 11-Aug-16 14:20:46

I don't know, but I'm HERE.....oh. Where?
I know its Brazil, I found some nuts. Gransnutters, I think.

AlieOxon Thu 11-Aug-16 14:21:44

(For the pedants, I did mean it's.)

Jalima Thu 11-Aug-16 14:29:23

lol

AlieOxon Thu 11-Aug-16 14:33:02

Who's for Quidditch then?

(Not 'quidditch', that's for real....I never knew that until I looked it up.)

How do you play?

Jalima Thu 11-Aug-16 14:40:49

it sounds very energetic ...
am still practising for the slowest swimmer, only need 4 year old DGD to overtake me and I've in the running for a medal (the other DGC passed me ages ago)

Granny23 Thu 11-Aug-16 15:14:57

Team GN have a good chance if this is the opposition.

Not exactly PC but it is the Irish poling fun at themselves.

AlieOxon Thu 11-Aug-16 18:08:13

I can't see that. Pity.

Hey, Jalima sports are supposed to be energetic.....

Dunno about in the middle of the night though

Jalima Thu 11-Aug-16 18:13:04

I am swimming very energetically as fast as I can but the DGC still streak ahead.

Adam Peaty swam the 100m final in 57.13 seconds, I am working towards 100m in 57 minutes.

GandTea Thu 11-Aug-16 18:20:18

I'm working towards 100m without drowning.

NanKate Thu 11-Aug-16 20:47:08

GandTea I will send the lifeboat out to monitor you.

Granny23 you can be as non PC as you like on this particular thread, say what you like and you can get away with it, hurray for free speech.

Anyone up for the backwards Penny Farthing Race ? The winner is the one who reaches the Start first, having started at the end and cycled backwards - simples.

Liaise Thu 11-Aug-16 20:47:25

Nankate I am limbering up for the Amontillado finals and hope to get a gold before I go off to be dried out. I am at the top of my game. My friend, however, is in the Sweet Sherry Camp. She hasn't been up for air lately but has never let anything beat her yet. Isn't it wonderful how patriotic gransnetters are and so dedicated to their sport. Tuesday is our bin day so my reputation will be ruined when the dog walkers count the empties in our glass bin.
