Girl Crushes

I can understand the Serena crush. Is it the character or the actress that's the attraction for you ?
It's not something I've ever thought about before but if I had to choose it would be Ziva David in NCIS. Played by Cote de Pablo. She's beautiful but I think its more Ziva that attracts me.

Um no. I remember admiring certain older girls for their hairstyle or the stylish way they managed to wear their school uniforms but that was nothing compared to the feelings I had for the boy whose name I carved into the bench in one of the science labs

I've never had a girl crush but in the '60s I REALLY wanted to be Patti Boyd because she married George Harrison! Or Cathy McGowan (that hair) because she mixed with all the pop stars on Ready Steady Go!

Strange that this should be mentioned. Again, this isn't in a sexual way at all, but I feel that my DD [who still isn't speaking to me] seems to be somewhat obsessed with someone in a way that I can't quite work out. It's almost like a sort of mid life crisis and she's trying to be young again by being 'besties' with someone much younger. I was totally in awe with the head girl at my school; I just SO wanted to be like her. I think women, on the whole, dress to impress other women [I don't think men notice what women wear at all, and they certainly don't notice things like nails or earrings].

Nope never had a girl crush. I did admire some of the older girls at school, the non giggly, tall, confident girls who always had hair that looked good. It was boys though that I'd have a crush on.

I had a crush on two sixth form girls when I was about 12. I didn't want to be Patti Boyd KatyK I wanted to kill her when she married George!
As an adult I've always had a crush on the actress Rosalie Crutchley, she always looked exotic and had a wonderful voice. Nowadays I've got a bit of a crush on Emily Blunt, I don't know why but I just think she's lovely.

Yes deeda I too had crushes on the six form ".women" when I was in the first year. It felt odd to have fellow pupils who were adults. ....in fact now I look back they seemed quite middle aged.

Soon decided boys were better, though in short supply at a girl's school.
All those young , long haired beauties were a bit daunting in the 60s.
Patti Boyd stole two of my favourites, George and Eric....not fair.

No girl crushes for me but lots of women I would like as best friends- Claudia Winkleman, India Knight, Camilla Long, Zoe Ball, Rosumund Pike and lots more.

Not a crush, exactly, but we have a fitness instructor who takes our aquafit class who I find rather mesmerising. She's not particularly good looking, but she she has a very attractive personality.

Schoolgirl crushes are purely sexual. Nothing to do with wanting to look like the object of one's feelings. I think they come about at the time of foundering with sexuality. Not really knowing what to do with such feelings, usually in the absence of access to the opposite sex. And also, at that age girls seem to be a safer bet than an actual boy.

When I was at an all girls grammar school in the 50s almost my whole class had a crush on the Latin teacher. She was a Quaker so dressed plainly & wore no makeup. It is hard to say exactly why she was so popular but we all adored her.

My daughter, when she was 16, had a pact with her best (girl) friend that if they didn't meet lovely men and marry them they'd 'marry' each other and become affectionate cat ladies together for the rest of the duration.

While this was met with an indulgent smile at the time, now we have same sex marriages, it strikes me as a jolly good way of cheating the tax man of some inheritance revenue. Marry your bestie and leave them the dosh.

When I was about 12 I had a girl crush on a prefect at my all girls' school, because I thought she looked like Davy Jones. Looking back I realise it was the mono brow that they shared! Probably not a good look.

I'm not very clear on what "girl crush" means, it's crept into our language like a lot of other sayings. I've never fancied another female, but have often admired them for a whole range of things, and, have maybe wanted to emulate some aspect of their physical appearance. I can't imagine having had a crush on anyone at my school, other than maybe a crush on their shoes/hair/clothes

Could be Jingle, I was in an all girls school and the other school who put on the production was an all girls school . Not long after I fancied the head boy of the all boys school

LullyDully. Patti Boyd may have well bagged both George Harrison and Eric Clapton but they didn't treat her particularly well, particulary the latter, who inspite of writing "Layla" and "Beautiful Tonight" behaved quite shockingly towards her. She looked great though such an iconic '60s girl

I always thought that having a 'crush' on someone involved a strong emotional pull to the person involved, beyond just admiring them.

I would suggest a ladder that goes: to fancy someone, then to have a crush on them and finally to be infatuated by them. All suggest an irrational admiration based on an emotional and sometimes (sublimated) physical attraction rather than a rational admiration of someone for their behaviour, or attainments.

All my crushes, whilst at school, were on pop stars, Paul McCartney at junior school and then various others Scott Walker, Davy Jones etc.

I had a crush on the head girl when I was 14. I thought that it was normal too, as an avid reader of Mallory Towers. Because I thought it was normal, I told a friend and it soon got all round school and took a lot of living down. Crushes on girls were apparently a great source of amusement and a chance to ridicule the 'crusher'. I can't remember what the 'crushee' thought However I wasn't the only one as she married one of our teachers as soon as she left school.

Never had a girl crush but I did think Joanna Lumley was gorgeous & I wanted to BE her. She is still lovely now.
I HATED Jerry Hall for dating/marrying BOTH Mick Jagger & Bryan Ferry. I'd have given my eye teeth for just an hour with either of them(still would!)
