I bet that many famous and celebrity people will be glad when this year is over, we seem to have lost so many in 2016!!!

tiredoldwoman Mon 26-Dec-16 09:25:57

Yes, another shock this morning .
On Christmas Eve , I put on some good old hard rockin' Status Quo , in honour of Rick Parfitt .
This morning A Different Corner is playing on repeat .Sad.

Another part of my younger days lost even though he was a lot younger than me I did love those "Wham" songs and video's that you could sing along to we played "Last Christmas" just yesterday afternoon such a waste of brilliant talent,RIP George you will be missed.

I met him, once. A quiet, polite man in a smart suit.
I feel very sad.

Legs55 Mon 26-Dec-16 10:10:09

2016 has been a very sad year - just hope we reach 2017 without any more loss but sadly Carrie Fisher is still seriously illtchsad

We have lost so many 'famous' people this year. My husband sang in the clubs and did a lot of Quo music. He died in July and I had a Quo record played at his funeral. It's reported that George Michael passed away peacefully at home so it must not have been an unexpected death. So very young. Let's hope for a better 2017 for us all.

Skweek1 Mon 26-Dec-16 10:35:08

I missed the announcement about Rick Parfitt, who had been ill for so long that his health issues were almost forgotten, but George Michael, perhaps one of the most unhappy people in the world, was somehow a shock. I agree with Legs55 - while many of those who have gone this year were elderly or ill, we will miss so many much-loved entertainers and others who have died in 2016.

Skweek1 Mon 26-Dec-16 10:38:30

But why do they insist on calling him part of a pop "group" Wham? Last time I looked, one musician plus one musician was a "duo". To be a "group" surely you need to be part of a trio, quartet or more. Or am I just being pedantic?

We saw George at the Manchester Arena nine or ten years ago. He'd been found asleep at the wheel of his car a few days earlier and when he hadn't turned up an hour after the start time we thought he wasn't going to show. Then he bounded on stage and gave us the best performance we have ever seen. Luckily we had a hotel booked, as the show ran on till nearly midnight tchsmile What a great talent he had.

Theoddbird Mon 26-Dec-16 10:41:19

His soul flies free x

Blinko Mon 26-Dec-16 11:16:48

So young. I can't make up my mind whether it was a rock and roll lifestyle, poor health or a combination of the two. Though I was never a fan especially, he was clearly a multi talented man. RIP.

KatyK Mon 26-Dec-16 11:37:50

Sad. The last photos of him were printed online today. He was bloated, like Elvis in his last days. sad

Ana Mon 26-Dec-16 11:52:58

Oh dear, must try to avoid those - I'd rather remember him as he was in his heyday...

Teetime Mon 26-Dec-16 12:08:29

Poor George he had a fabulous voice and wrote great songs but seemed very unhappy RIP xxx

Sheilasue Mon 26-Dec-16 12:08:37

So sad, I saw him at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert.such a lovely voice. Glad I had that privilege even though I was way way up the back.

Morgain11 Mon 26-Dec-16 12:40:54

He will always be a happy, happy time for me. RIP.

Craftycat Mon 26-Dec-16 13:30:15

I was not a huge fan but he made some very good recordings. I did love A Different Corner & his performance of Need Someone to Love at Freddie Mercury tribute concert was outstanding.
A troubled soul. I hope he has found peace.
