I remember last year there was a thread on this. Just wondered if anyone else was doing this as we are on day 2? Not that I'm counting or anything.

No, not yet but I'm thinking about it!

chelseababy Mon 02-Jan-17 17:20:38

Started today but only till 27th when we have house guests! Does that count?

janeainsworth Mon 02-Jan-17 17:21:46

It's the thought that counts riverwalk grin
Happy New Year ??

Greyduster Mon 02-Jan-17 17:21:46

I am, and I too wondered if anyone else would be! I started today, but I have probably not got the alcohol I drank yesterday out of my system yet blush! (Well, you can't really start on New Year's Day, can you?). I got through it last year ok, but I have to admit I was really glad to see February!

I'm thinking about it too, but probably more important to have a choccy biscuit free month tbh.

Maybe Mon-Friday?
It would make a huge difference to the diet, but.......

And to you too Jane wine

Not much enthusiasm for the idea so far with us lot! grin

Oh dear, I'm afraid I have to join the majority of you and say...possibly, when I work up the willpower!

rosesarered Mon 02-Jan-17 17:34:06

And when all the Baileys, sherry, gin, apricot brandy etc has been used up.

Greyduster Mon 02-Jan-17 17:39:55

roses the chocci biscuits would be a bigger challenge for me than alcohol, and I think I would certainly fail. I am relying on GS scoffing the rest of my tub of twiglets tommorrow when he comes so that at least one temptation will be out of the way! ?

I have dry Jan-July followed by dry Sept-Dec, Champagne for the bit in between.

Jalima Mon 02-Jan-17 18:06:30

May I start it next week please?

Maranta Mon 02-Jan-17 18:18:45

I thought about it but realise that two alcohol free days per week was probably more realistic. Starting tomorrow. Cheers! ?

Wobblybits Mon 02-Jan-17 18:38:47

Yes, I'm only drinking dry wine

Charleygirl Mon 02-Jan-17 18:44:22

I drink so little I need the odd pleasure in life. I opened a bottle of dry white wine last night and that will last me for 3 evening meals.

kittylester Mon 02-Jan-17 18:46:25

Certainly not till after my birthday on Thursday. So, from next Monday we will not drink Monday to Thursday inclusive - unless necessary!! Xx

Lynker Mon 02-Jan-17 18:47:32

Yes I am! I downloaded the app last year and managed Dry January. I then kept the app updated throughout the year and found it quite interesting. I did manage to lose some weight too.

Greyduster Mon 02-Jan-17 19:01:55

wobbly why didn't I think of that??

Antonia Mon 02-Jan-17 19:02:04

In a word, no.

morethan2 Mon 02-Jan-17 19:19:49

Same here Antonia I rarely drink but if I fancy one I have one especially after Christmas when the bottles are busting out of the cupboards. I could possibly do a dry February. The Christmas stock will be down to manageable proportions and February is a short month. Cheerswine

Teetime Mon 02-Jan-17 19:26:54

Not dry but cutting down drastically. 'A day without wine is like day without sun' and we have far too many of those.

J52 Mon 02-Jan-17 19:29:15

I like your motto Teetime! I'm with you kitty next year doesn't start till after Tursday.

J52 Mon 02-Jan-17 19:29:59

Or Thursday, even. Not touched my wine yet. Honest.

TerriBull Mon 02-Jan-17 19:35:54

Husband and I agreed to a dry January, but whilst watching Rick Stein in Bordeaux quaffing some wine, he said to me "shall I open a bottle" No resolve huh!
