My daughter was seven when her father died. When her first born was three - there were no photographs of my husband in uniform and he had not been told of his dead Grandfather- my grandson was very into drawing and colouring, several times she heard him talking when he was alone in the living room, she mentioned this to him and he said 'the policeman, he helped me draw this and showed a drawing which was way above the age of a three year old work.
When the second child was born , in her nursery she had loads of soft toys lined against the walls, one day my dsughter heard her squealing with laughter , went into the nursery where the little one was in her cot, the toys were scattered over the floor , the little one said man ,and gave a beaming smile .
