we decided to move house and after having our offer accepted the people selling decided to take it off the market ,we were gutted ,it was a lovely house and in a place we really liked .6 momths later it flooded so badly when the river burst its banks it had to be demolished .My lovely husband who is not superstitious or religious said that there was someone looking out for us and since then there have been quite a few times when things have gone not how we wanted but turned out to be for the best and he has repeated that statement.Do you believe that you have a guardian angel ? He says its his lovely gran who he adored and who thought the sun shone out of him too .Me... I just think we were lucky

What really convinces me, is the likes of baby P. No sign of any guardian angel for that little soul, either human or heavenly.
I do believe in God, am a practising Christian, but I see goodness and kindness coming from those with faith and those without faith .
despite being raised an RC ,I dont really believe in God or angels and certainly not the fairytales called the bible or any other "holy book" In all honesty if there is a god he/she/it is a very strange being to allow the suffering thats happening and has always happened in the world in his/her/its name .Now if peace broke out tomorrow I might think again .But its been interesting to see others opinions,
I don't know whether there is a God or not and don't want to criticise others who do believe, but I would need to have some good logical reasoning before accepting there is a supernatural power at work. I find the Free Will Argument very difficult.
We can lay that at the foot of Satan Ana, the fallen angel.
Or the satanic forces inside every one if you like!
I understood Ana's post to reflect her feeling that people are quick to blame God when things go wrong, rather than put the responsibility where it often lies, with humanity.
No doubt Ana will put me right if I misunderstood. I'm often a bit surprised by the ease with which some people with criticise those with faith, or suggest there can't be a God because everything isn't all sunshine.
Lazigirl , for me I believe people do good because they choose to and with the exception of mental illness they choose not to
Ana, hsve you never heard anyone say - where was God, when we hear of s child harmed? Perhaps I hear it far more but I hsve heard it often
And yet, strangely enough I've never heard of anyone blaming God for man's inhumanity to man...
Annie does God influence people to behave in a humanitarian, selfless, loving and kind way towards their fellow humans, or do we choose to give God the credit?
Does God allow children to suffer or do we but choose to blame God ?
Just worked out why some people suffer so badly, it's all those people keeping the angels busy finding them parking spaces. Stop it now! The world might become a better place (or not)
I'm not sure I believe in guardian angels, or any other sort of angels come to that. But I do believe that things happen for a reason, sometimes to test us, sometimes not, and I also believe that people come into our lives for a reason too.
paddyann for you:
The Rev Richard Coles, who written a book called the Lives of the Improbable Saints, outlined the roles of some of the less famous saints. Talking to Sarah Montague he described how to pray to the patron saint of car parking, Mother Cabrini: "Mother Cabrini, Mother Cabrini, please find a space for my parking machiney."
I may try it
paddyann that's right, if there is a God why would he allow children to suffer?
But aren't God and angels part of the same belief system?
If everbody has a guardian angel, then why does it allow children to suffer and die?
Just think of the horrible deaths that some people endure and ask yourself where was a guardian angel then?
This belief in angels has nothing to do with belief in God/a creator, they are entirely different things.
A belief in a personal guardian angel is only any use or comfort until something bad happens to you, and nobody ( including an angel) steps up to help you.So, it may give you a (false) sense of security which is pleasant ( until it ceases to be pleasant.)
Are we not all much too old to give credence to this strange idea that either all have a guardian angel ( in which case we know all too well that a lot of them need to be sacked for sleeping on the job) or that only the good have one....see earlier comment in brackets, or that ( massive ego trip this one) only a few of the chosen, including ourselves have one.
Jalima thats the age old question though ,if theres a GOD why does he let children suffer..or does he have more faith in humanity to look after them in his name than we deserve
expect anything else !
interesting mix of opinions,I didn't anything less.So of you do/dont believe in guardian angels ,do you ever ask for help from PARKING ANGELS thats something I thought was totally ridiculous when a friend told me ,now whenever we 're entering a car park that looks full to capacity I ask please parking angel help us find a space and it ALWAYS works,in just the spot we want too .I know some of you will say I'm a complete fruitcake but give it a try ...lol
My late MIL always claimed to have a guardian angel. She said he/it spoke to her when she was staying in a hotel in Portsmouth. She checked out and left the city on the last train. That night the city was bombed and the hotel flattened. I have never bothered to check this out it was her story. Sometimes though people do seemingly unreasonable things that turn out to be right- why is another question.
If I have a guardian angel, he must be Lucifer.
Yes, I believe in Guardian angels, and there are people who are just as good living on earth too. Unfortunately there are also sadists and cruel people as well.
I think of guardian angels as people who come to the rescue at times of great need. Being rescued at the age of eight when cut off by the tide early one morning when on holiday in France. They were complete strangers who appeared on a deserted beach. i didn't think of them as being spiritual beings. sadly i was too shocked to thank them at the time.
My husband didn't have one when his car crashed, the drug dealers involved must have because they survived?
If little ones knew they needed to ask for help from angels when they were being abused the abuse would stop?
I do believe in earth Angels, people who come into your life when times are dark and they give you love and support
Not sure if I have a guardian angel but I would like to be one, when my time comes, for my daughters and grandchildren.
