Is it rude to ask what happened to Jings? I have spells of not using Gransnet , and must have missed something.

Ana Mon 05-Jun-17 16:19:10

I really, really miss her. And I'm not ashamed to say it!

trisher Mon 05-Jun-17 16:22:21

My family know and think it's hilarious, they do tend to ask if we discuss the best walking sticks and hearing aids, but I just kick them and they soon shut up!
We haven't yet had a post from someone who joined because dbf had gone!

trisher Mon 05-Jun-17 16:35:25

That should be jbf why does it keep correcting to dbf (anybody know if that means something?)

TriciaF Mon 05-Jun-17 17:50:05

dbf - dear best friend?
I've said before J. was OK in my view, but I used to find it irritating how she tended to "flood" a topic, posting successively lots of times. Which personally made me lose interest in the subject.
But that's me - we're all different.

merlotgran Mon 05-Jun-17 18:33:52

Lots of people on here flood topics with consecutive posts.

Like ana, I really miss jingl. I've said many times that her banishment is totally unfair but brick wall, head and bang spring to mind.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 05-Jun-17 18:57:46

People that "report" should be "reported". Unless the content is very extreme and I haven't seen any. I personally have never reported anyone. I certainly wouldn't want controversial views stopped, it makes for a more interesting site.

trisher Mon 05-Jun-17 18:59:04

Oh saak you've got me worried- I agree with you!!!!!

stillaliveandkicking Mon 05-Jun-17 19:02:25

Why are you worried about that then trisher?

Baggs Mon 05-Jun-17 19:02:55

Except that nobody knows who the reporters are unless they fess up to their pals. And if they are real pals they won't snitch.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 05-Jun-17 19:05:19

I have a good idea smile

Christinefrance Mon 05-Jun-17 19:19:54

No we haven't Trisher but there must be more posters who are heartily sick of the beatification of jbf.

Ana Mon 05-Jun-17 19:25:00

You don't have to read or post on this thread Christinefrance, if you're so 'heartily sick'...

stillaliveandkicking Mon 05-Jun-17 19:26:05

Well maybe people should have supported her more then rather than let the site be over-run by snide pearl clutchers and do nothing.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 05-Jun-17 19:27:42

I think Christine said "beatification" rather than "beautification" ... did she?

Baggs Mon 05-Jun-17 19:30:33

It's fine to be heartily sick of anything you want, christinefrance. I, for one, don't care if you are heartily sick of anything at all that I post on GN, and I hope others feel the same. I just wonder, alongside that feeling of not giving a damn what makes you heartily sick, why you've read this thread once you realised its tenor?

NanaandGrampy Mon 05-Jun-17 19:30:57

I defend the right of people to report what they find offensive SAAK just as I support the right for people to post those comments in the first place.

Baggs Mon 05-Jun-17 19:33:12

I defend that right too, n&g, I just think it's weird—really quite bananas—to read a thread that's on a subject that heartily sickens one.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 05-Jun-17 19:34:40

I personally stand on my own two feet and am not easily "offended" nana.

Baggs Mon 05-Jun-17 19:35:19

Perhaps c.france has never felt the urge to stick up for a pal and to rant against apparent unfairness and just doesn't understand the feeling.

It's still weird to read a thread you hate.

Baggs Mon 05-Jun-17 19:36:55

And telling people what offends one is really rather a tiresome trait.

Oops! sorry, I flooding the thread. Baggying off...

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 19:38:01

^ there must be more posters who are heartily sick of the beatification of jbf^
But that is not the point at all ChristinFrance - the point is that a poster who could cause some controversy but added to the general interest of GN has been permanently banned for vague, unspecified reasons when other posters are even more controversial and post far ruder personal remarks.

It's the principle as much as the person which is the point of yet another discussion, at least as far as I am concerned.

stillaliveandkicking Mon 05-Jun-17 19:39:24

The world is so PC and "reportable" yet full of real terrorist activity. Reporting for the sake of it does no favours and never will.

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 19:39:56

and the person .....

stillaliveandkicking Mon 05-Jun-17 19:41:32

I feel that you're one of them Jalima. You post in such a way to get on others nerves yet when it comes to it and you've pissed people off knowing full well what you've done you cry wolf and press that report button in a frenzy.

Jalima1108 Mon 05-Jun-17 19:52:50

One of them confused Thanks saak you have absolutely and utterly got me wrong

Sorry if I get on your nerves, I do hope I don't do that to other posters. smile

However, you do confuse me somewhat because on another rather strange thread you said that people who posted less than kindly should be struck off GN - most on this thread should be struck off the site which I said was daft, yet on this thread you say I certainly wouldn't want controversial views stopped, it makes for a more interesting site

And as for pissed people off well, that is quite funny and no, I am not busy reporting in a frenzy lol.

I very very rarely report and that is only if it's spam or perhaps about plimsolls. I have never reported you if you are wondering. I believe in letting controversial posts stay on to speak for themselves.

Is it any wonder I am confused?
