Poor Harry

Prince Harry has told an American Magazine that none of the younger Windsors wants to be King or queen, and if he becomes king he will still do his own shopping.

Pity he doesn't buy his own house and get a job

I can understand that the funeral must have been a very distressing time for Harry. He was young when his mother died and he was thrust into public view at the very time when I'm sure he should have been sheltered from it.

However, I think he was foolish to grumble about his lot in life - other children and young people have undergone much worse tragedies and disruptions, with none of the support that is afforded to this privileged family.

But why so much ire directed at Harry - why not at Charles, William, Kate, Edward, etc. etc. who are not particularly industrious either. Attending carefully orchestrated photoshoots for charity events is a propagandising device by which the royal family appears to be "working hard" but in fact the real work is done by others.

Merlot, I did wonder why you thought I didn't know his father was named Charles

Anniebach Fri 23-Jun-17 10:37:08

I agree William and Kate need to get off their backsides but Charles has carried out royal duties from a young age, I know someone very much involved in the Prince's Trust and he told me Charles is very much involved, attends meetings, holds functions to meeting young people who benefit from it. I know he has invited the Aberfan Wives Group to spend a day at Highgrove, we will not read of it in the papers because isn't young , if William did the same it would be on the front page of every news paper and the press would decend on Highgrove.

It was Chsrles who met with the Muslim victims of the terrorist attack , queenie was at Ascot and William? Who knows.

William would have been very busy at home probably doing the bathrooms, vacuuming the stairs or making dinner. He is a very busy "Family man" isn't he? Or maybe like most dads he would have just been at work? Oops sorry like all other royals, he doesn't "do" real work.

Eleo this is directed at Harry because of the stupid, thoughtless, patronising, entitled, whinging comments he made in his interview.

Eloethan Fri 23-Jun-17 11:41:20

Well he obviously hasn't the sense to realise, as the others have, that keeping your mouth shut is a small price to pay for a very lavish lifestyle.

Anniebach Fri 23-Jun-17 11:49:56

To be fair to Harry he didn't go onto university with grades which if achieved by non royals wouldn't have been considered for entry, so he joined the army , but as an officer as did many from wealthy families

Imagine a grown up 32 year old teacher talking to his local radio station about how no one in the school really wanted to be the head?

He he, that made me laugh Rigby.

So, if Harry is reluctant to step up to the mark, we should also see him take action to stay away from interviews etc. I wonder. Or, is Harry a bit like his mother - seeking the limelight while complaining about media intrusion?

Anniebach Fri 23-Jun-17 12:49:59

So like his mother in my opinion, seeks the camera when it gives him good publicity and complains of intrusion the rest of the time .

I am baffled that so many see little Harry still, snd I do think he uses his mother's death, I am sure his grief is genuine but bringing her up in so many interviews isn't necessary, someone should tell him he has a father to be proud of too.

Lillie Fri 23-Jun-17 13:25:26

someone should tell him he has a father to be proud of too. Yes, it is a bit unbalanced, Annie, and by not mentioning Charles he is showing even more how reluctant a royal he is.

It's almost as though Harry is trying to create problems in his own family by lumping all the other royals in with himself. I think Charles has been wanting the top job for ages, and, as for William, I can't see his wife wanting to miss out, so she will steer him accordingly. Harry is a bit out on a limb and I would imagine the others might have been a bit miffed at being brought into this with his stupid comment.

He has one uncle I suspect would greatly enjoy being King, luckily this particular man is way down the list now although he must have been much higher at birth.

Anniebach Fri 23-Jun-17 13:40:59

I don't think Charles has wanted to be King as in yippee I will be a king, just he has always accepted the fact and quite naturally would want changes if/when the day comes . He has never done an Andrew, thank heaven , I feel sorry for Charles and think it such a pity many don't acknowledge what a good PofW he is.

Anniebach Fri 23-Jun-17 13:42:06

I still think they should hand the title back though grin

paddyann Fri 23-Jun-17 15:34:37

I dont understand people who"love" the royal family ...WHY? Can someone explain it to me?

Anniebach Fri 23-Jun-17 16:42:20

I can't sorry, I certaintly don't . I am not a royalist but not a republican either, the thought of voting for a president ? No thanks, plus it would be another drawn out political campaign
