My claim to fame is I have spoken on the phone to Princess Diana's mother. Back in the distant past I was a shipping clerk in London and the company shipped Shand Kidd wallpapers. Mr Kidd at the time was having a relationship with Diana's mother and she helped him with the business. We always referred to her as Lady Althorpe when speaking to her.

What's your claim to fame

Well, I have harped on many times about my claim to fame. I saw many of the '60s pop stars live. I saw the Beatles a few times and have many stories to tell about my escapades. I, along with a few others, won a competition to sit behind the Beatles on stage while they performed for a TV show. I have a photo of myself sitting behind them which I have had blown, up and framed. My family and friends (and probably GNetters, are sick of the story) but you did ask smile

When I was at school, I presented the second Countess, Raine Spencer with her tea tray when she gave the prizes at Speech Day.
I also ate dinner with fashion designer, John Rocha in. Dublin restaurant. Only he didn’t know it was me sitting on the next table! grin

My friend and I had a drink at a theatre interval with Tim Healey. Not everyone's cup of tea, but a real nice bloke.

Sat on a sofa with James Fox when he was young and gorgeous!

I was on Fifteen-to-One in 1997.

Des O'Connor has been in my house (before we bought it) and I spoke to Jonathan Price today in a local theatre cafe. I asked for the spare chair at his table. Didn't realise it was him until I got home and Googled him. Knew he was someone I had seen on TV

Mel Gibson apologise to me .

Well, I was walking backwards from my sisters house, he clambered off a canal barge and I stepped on his foot, he said sorry .

And Salmen Rushdie helped me carry shopping to my car

I've posted about this before, but Prince Charles flirted with me at a ball in Windsor Castle.

MissAdventure Thu 28-Sept-17 19:11:53

Mike Reid asked me out out for a drink, which I declined.

I said this on another post today, but it bears repeating....i was chatted up by mick jagger (a long time ago).

MissAdventure Thu 28-Sept-17 20:00:21

I accidentally queue jumped in front of Richard Osman at the bookshop in St.Pancras. I looked up and said "oh its you" and he replied "yes it's me!" And kindly allowed me to go in front of him.

I jumped on Lord Mountbatten's lap during a swimming gala he was judging in Malta.

I mistook him for my father - they were very alike and sitting in the same row. I wanted permission to go swimming in the children's pool and when everyone had stopped laughing.....I got it!

DanniRae Thu 28-Sept-17 20:39:01

I poked my autograph book in Gerry Marsden's eye (of the Pacemakers). He was in a car and I passed the book through the window - straight into his eye. But he still managed to sign it and I still have it!

I met Princess Anne who was really friendly but also 'got' my role in the charity she supported.

Jane10 Thu 28-Sept-17 21:20:05

anniebach why were you walking backwards? Just wondering!
I've been on TV in Bangladesh!

I think I may have posted this before but the man in front of my friend and I when queuing to buy train tickets let us go in front of him when he heard us saying that if things didn't speed up we would miss our train. After thanking him my friend said Oh you look just like Leo Sayer. He replied, "Thats because I am.".

I broadcast quite a lot ( in the late 80s) once on the Gloria Hunniford Show ( she was very nice and gave me a special credit at the end because she knew my mum was listening). I work regularly with some household political names but best not mention who.

overthehill Thu 28-Sept-17 22:13:29

Oh just remembered I bumped into Sue Pollard whilst visiting a garden and she chatted and I had my photo taken with her, she seemed very nice

When I was a teenager I worked in a large department store in Manchester and I served Pat Phoenix (Elsie Tanner) many times. She was rather haughty! grin

suzied Thu 28-Sept-17 22:26:43

I collected autographs in he 60s when I was a teenager and I have the Rolling Stones, fleetwood Mac, John Hurt, Eric Clapton and others of his original group, the Yardbirds, the Hollies, and many others. I did see the Beatles live twice but we never managed to get their autographs. biggest CTF- shook hands with Nelson Mandela and my son sang a solo for him when he came to London.

I have been to Eric Clapton's house in Chelsea ,and back stage numerous times at his gigs . I was also invited to the dress rehearsal of the Japan tour he did with George Harrison ( one of 50 guests ) and I was at the recording of Unplugged at Bray studios - the world premier of Tears In Heaven and the accoustic Layla .

I have had lunch with the Queen.
Shopping in town a couple of years ago I was in TK Maxx and this little chap was holding up the queue with his chatting, when he turned round it was Wayne Sleep.
