I live near Jo Brand and see her out about but she isn't very friendly.
I also live near Jenny Eclair and have chatted to her in our local supermarket. She is very friendly.
All the different family surnames
My claim to fame is I have spoken on the phone to Princess Diana's mother. Back in the distant past I was a shipping clerk in London and the company shipped Shand Kidd wallpapers. Mr Kidd at the time was having a relationship with Diana's mother and she helped him with the business. We always referred to her as Lady Althorpe when speaking to her.
What's your claim to fame
I live near Jo Brand and see her out about but she isn't very friendly.

Marc Bolan bought me a drink and chatted to me during the interval at a gig in 1969. He was lovely (sigh).
And I spent the night next to Justin Timberlake at the Lowry in Manchester. Though technically he was in the next suite, with a bodyguard sitting outside who had to move me on politely when I tried his door handle, purely by mistake of course.
"Move away from the door please, Ma'am".
My friend and I went to the cinema with The Shadows and Frank Ifield. They were performing at the New Theatre in Oxford for a few nights. We hung around the stage door during the day and got chatting. Purely innocent I might add, a couple of the wives were there too.
Fascinating stories. Anniebach, please tell why you were walking backwards on the canal towpath.
I fell foul of the extremely haughty Raine Spencer whilst on a tour of Althorp House. My DD, only three at the time and a well behaved child, trotted ahead down a corridor and ran right into RS as she came round a corner. RS grabbed her arm and demanded in a loud voice to know who's child this was. When I quickly owned up she told me to keep her under control as 'there are a lot of valuable things in this house'. My flabber was well and truly gasted and to this day I regret not giving her a mouthful instead of just standing there with my mouth open.
My husband's company supplied stationery to the Royal Family and we were invited to meet Prince Charles once. Did a very awkward curtsey. My sister met the Beatles and was invited to their dressing room in the interval of their show in Bournemouth 1963. I get reflected glory off her for that.
Dennis Law asked me to dance at a dance in Huddersfield Town Hall when he was the star player at the town Football Club. I declined as he was too short for me!
I worked for a chartered accountant and met quite a lot of famous people who came in. One who stands out was Lesley Crowther - warm and charming.
Spoke to Ringo Starr in Peter Jones he was with his wife buying plates.
I worked with Louis Mountbatten in 1962. Saw Ricky Gervais at the barbers in Rose St. Edinburgh while waiting for my poorly brother to get his beard trimmed. I did not recognise him, my brother nudged me and pointed him out. That was 2010 my brother died shortly after. Miss him so much.
Daley Thompson lived with us for while during the 80's.... he is wonderful... we met many top olympic athletes... bonny lads all .....
Nursed a few famous names when working at the (now pulled down) Middlesex Hospital in London, patient confidentiality prevents me naming names, but a lovely one gave me a Peanuts cartoon book on security, and inside she had written 'My security is being nursed by Nurse ......... (me!)
I was introduced at an awards dinner (was presenting one of the prizes) by Marcus Brigstock - and good for him, he pronounced my rather odd surname name correctly!
KatyKSame here for all the groups in Liverpool I spent most nights after work in Matthew Street watching and talking to group members they where just like us weren't they Katy such fond memories and the dash down to catch the last Ferry home with some of the band members who lived on my side of the River.
When I was in the WRAF in the 1960s I met the Shah of Iran (very nice) and Lord Mountbatten (grumpy but polite). I also met Prince Philips who is an outrageous flirt but absolutely lovely. I have got a lot of time for that man. I also met Montgomery which impressed my father no end. I was working in a small unit which was highly classified so a lot of bigwigs turned up. Photos were always taken and I sent Dad the three pictures of me standing next to them. I had them back after Dad died but he was so chuffed with the Montgomery picture that he framed it and hung it on the wall.
Keith Richards bought me a drink when the Stones were performing at Eel Pie Island in Twickenham and I was in the dressing room with all the band (he had his arm round me!). It was the night before they embarked on their very first tour. They played there every week, so who knows what may have happened! I wrote to him on the tour and got a card back saying he remembered me alright!
A couple of weeks ago I spoke on Radio City, or rather, gabbled in shock!
They phoned me (out of the blue) to tell me I had won their weekly competition for a prize of £2000 cash.
My claim to fame - a lovely surprise!
I am related although distantly to Dame Sybil Thorndike
My Grandmas cousin, who was the spitting image of her
Chewbacca was that Kendals? I loved that shop as you could always find exactly what you were looking for, even if you didn't know what you were looking for when you went in.
My DH still brags that he used to go riding with Pat Phoenix; what he really means is that they both used the same stables to hire horses by the hour and sometimes went out in the same group!
Born in Notting Hill, in the 1950s,we were surrounded with "famous" people..my mother worked. as a cleaner for a number of politicians. Richard Branson lived in the same street as us (first signs of gentrification and social cleansing!). in the 60's we lived across the road from a building that the BBC used, so saw many stars including the Beatles. A Hard Day's Night was filmed there. Tony Hancock's half hour and Z cars was filmed there as well. In the late 1970's, early 80's numerous rock/pop stars came to live in the area. We weren't phased by any of them, they were all just ordinary human beings like ourselves, and I was friends with one or two of them. Both my son and son-in-law are in the entertainment business and although I have had many opportunities to meet "celebs", I have no real interest.
That's nothing. I once knew a girl whose auntie's ex-best friend used to live next door but one to a man who worked with a Welsh couple who were once on the same bus as Ken Dodd!
Hubby and I shared a lift with Jackie Stewart and his wife at a charity dinner in Glasgow. They were both very charming.
In my younger days my two friends and I had many innocent encounters with pop stars when autograph hunting. These include:
Chasing Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch down the street and cornering them in a newsagents.
Chatting with Jet Harris when he was in The Shadows, he was lovely and got Cliff Richard's autograph for us.
Talking to John Barry and members of The John Barry Seven.
Chatting with Marty Wilde's backing Group The Wild Cats in a coffee bar and being invited to go with them to their next venue - of course we declined.
Flirting with Emile Ford at the stage door.
Talking to Gerry Dorsey who later became Engelbert Humperdinck.
Talking to Tommy Steele and his wife in an underground car park in Blackpool.
Talking to Adam Faith in the above-mentioned car park. He had the twinkliest, bluest eyes I have ever seen.
And the big one which my friend and I still talk about. In the early 1960s there was a show at Earls Court called The Radio Show. We were on holiday in London and heard that Billy Fury was appearing so we got there early and were standing in the front row. It was very hot, my friend fainted and was carried off out of sight. In a panic I tried to find her by going through the only door I could see and I came face to face with Billy. We just looked at each other then he went one way and I went the other. I walked along the corridor and went in a door which was The Green Room. Thankfully my friend was there being looked after by the actress Mandy Miller who was lovely. Then in walked Billy and he sat opposite us; we told Mandy we had come to see Billy and she told us to go and talk to him but we were both too scared. Then he went on stage and the opportunity was lost for ever.
No it was Affleck & Brown's on Oldham Street CherryHatrick, but it was the "sister" store to Kendal Milnes on Deansgate. Funnily enough, many years after serving Pat Phoenix in the store, I was invited to the wedding of a young neighbour. She was the niece of Pat Phoenix and so I had the "pleasure" of meeting her again!
Went to school with Ian Rush ex Liverpool player. Met Patrick Mower when he was opening a store in Chester. He was lovely. Also met Daley Thompson . He was lovely to chat too but the bubble burst several years later when I met him again and he was rather arrogant. Greg Rutherford is a local and you couldnt meet a nicer chap. John Terry on the otherhand is a complete and utter ........! Cant bear the man.
I waited on Paul Weller once. It was very difficult not to drool on him.... ?
Reginald D Hunter chatted me up during one of his shows. He's a very sexy man, unfortunately I was on a date (with a guy who turned out to be a numpty sadly) ?
Aged about 17 I 'met' Richard Dimbleby when he and my father both received awards in the Birthday Honours, my father a considerably lower honour..
I could be seen on TV that evening to my embarrassment skipping past Mr. Dimbleby down the steps at Buckingham Palace in an ugly hat and looking like a 13 year old.
More exciting was the evening I agreed to give a lift to a friend who needed to deliver a heavy piece of work she had done for Bamber Gascoigne and his wife. I had a beautiful book by them both and took it with me to be autographed.
Two of my children work in industries which bring them into contact with many 'celebrities' and I know from them that a number of them are far from friendly off screen but Bamber and his wife were just lovely.
