Mineral powders are great. Non-cakey and no unwanted chemicals - and definitely not £101!!! . One of the companies I use is My Beautiful Earth. The extra bonus is that you can buy refills, so saving the planet at the same time!

PS They do sample sizes for you to try.

Oh thank you Squiffy, I have never tried mineral powders, but it looks like I will need to try something different now.

Look at Avon online, they do a good mineral loose powder.

Pixi do a very good loose powder in a little compact and best of all it’s cruelty free, which very few brands are these days.

I noticed a few for sale on ebay.
I'm a Bare Minerals fan. It took a wee bit of time to get the technique right, but there are videos on You Tube.
If you go to a Bare Minerals concession in the big dept stores, they will help you choose the correct shade.

Thanks for all of these recommendations - I bought a box of mineral powder and have tried it for the last couple of days. Someone said I 'looked well' - perhaps it's better than Corn Silk!

That happens with shampoos and other hair stuff too - drives me crackers!! I do occasionally find some for sale at more reasonable prices on eBay traders though.

I spent a long time looking for a perfume I loved - 'Fleurs Fraiches" - before I discoverd it had been discontinued

I've been using Avon MagiX loose powder for a while now. It's white in the box but goes on to match your skin colour/foundation. Apply with a brush, stays fresh all day and costs around a tenner if you look for their offers.
Highly recommended.

A powder made by a company that makes theatre makeup. Try a supplier for amateur theatricals if you have one near you.

It's a little cheaper on Ebay, but still expensive.

Just looked on Avon website to order some more of the MagiX HD finishing powder and it appears to have changed its name to Mark. Setting powder at £5.50 on offer.

I use Bare Minerals Powder with the yellow colour correcting Primer. I had the same experience as you, Rosina, when the price of the Primer shot up. It appears that Bare Minerals have stopped producing the Primer and I am so upset. It is the first stuff I have ever worn that has done what I wanted it to.

I could do with one that covers Rosacea redness. I have olive to light tan skin . It's so hard to find .

HannahLoisLuke - that's good to know. I haven't tried the Mark finishing powder as I don't want a cakey look and powder can sit in your lines and wrinkles. Must get me some!

There was an article in the 'Daily Mail' (I know!) yesterday about just this topic:- discontinued, beloved cosmetics and scents. They had some really good tips for how to overcome the loss and/or work round it.

The Bare Minerals range is pricey though,£27 for the pot of loose powder.

Lemongrove, I buy it through eBay for far less and it lasts an age.
