Pink hair??

Go for it, ombré or balayage, will look fantastic, if not chop it off. They might have to bleach it first then put the colour on.

Why don't you ask your hairdresser's advice?

I don't think you're mad. After all, hair dye is not permanent like a tattoo and you could always have it dyed dark brown if you hated the pink.

Naturally, I don't know what you look like so don't really know if pink would suit you but I think I'd say "go for it"!! If you're not confident, ask the hairdresser to dye it for you.

When I finally embraced the grey, I dyed my hair pink, and loved it!

However, if you are looking at the sort of last eight washes type colour, then I'm afraid it probably won't take on dark hair.

You'd need to bleach the amount you want to be pink first and then dye it pink. If you don't like it then you can go back to dark brown with a permanent colour.

Imagine,almost 70 and not a grey hair. I'm almost white but I found my first grey hair at 29 or so. go for it lucky girl, if its something you always wanted, now is the time.

It can look fantastic.
If your hair is long then you can always have the pink chopped off if you don’t like it.
I’m too casual with my hair, I have it cut in a style that I don’t even blow dry so I don’t think I could do that type of colour very well so I’ve embraced the grey.

I have mine highlighted blonde since forever. Am thinking of putting a cheeky pink rinse in it like I always wanted.

Iam having a ceilidh for my 70th in September and it would be good to have it done then.

Pink is great, you can do what you like when you're nearly 70.......wear clothes that don't match with purple hats, pick flowers in other people's gardens! I'm not so keen on bright red, after working in A&E I always associate it with head injuries!

Am not so sure Lazigirl about doing what you want because you are 70 etc.Sure, if you want to go down the looking eccentric route you can, and because we are retired means not checking with the company that it’s ok........but.

I have mousey hair tinged with grey and use Bleach London Rose which gives it a delicate colour on the grey bits depending how long you leave it on for. As I swim a lot it bleaches rather than stays pink but it doesn't look artificial. I guess it's more of a highlighter. However I don't know how it would react on dark hair I'm afraid.

I have put a few streaks in my dark hair several times using L'Oreal Colorista washout colour. I use the red and it is amazingly bright, then fades to pink over the following few weeks. I am not sure whether the pink from scratch would be as strong though. The box recommends it for the ombre effect as well as streaks or all-over. It might be worth a try and no harm done if you don't like it. Superdrug have a good selection of wash-outs.

I really like the sound of that, goldengirl, I wonder if it would work with my hair, which is light giner (I think - it was when I was young anyway - my daughter insists it it brown!)

I used to dye mine green for years and never bleached it. I liked the tonal effect as the grey showed up greener. I had to 'lose' it when I gave evidence in a court case (chickened out because I thought I wouldn't be taken seriously with green hair) but I'm going to dye it again this week before I go to my first festival. No need to bleach it first IMO! Enjoy!

Don't panic lemongrove - I also have no wrinkles! - neither did my paternal gran when she died at the age of 92, nor my Dad. Thank you Dad! - but not for the piles and varicose veins!

The only reason that I feel now is the time to do it is simply because life is quietly running by. I am not after an eccentric look - I like pink and hoped it might look pretty!
