Pink hair??

I have always said that when I went grey I would dye my hair pink.

I am nearly 70 and there is barely a sign of grey. I have long nipple length hair which is very dark brown and I have this yen to dye the bottom 6" or so pink. I could always cut it off if I did not like it.

So....shall I do it? How might I do it, as it is very dark and might not take dye? Am I mad?

Thanks wot.

Gherkin, I love your hair - but I'm assuming it also has at least two other highlights as well as pink?

Humpty, I have a few darker streaks of my own, but my hairdresser put in some ash blonde highlights also. Not too noticeable but they do break up some of the white.

Lucky girl, I envy you still having dark hair, I’ve been grey since my 40s and always dyed it. I would say add some colour, even if your hair is dark, it would add warmth to your hair. There are lots of colours out there, purples, aubergines, etc. If you want to do it, go for it. Who cares at our age anyway!

Not me - that's for sure!

The only elderly women I've seen with pink, green or mauve hair just look scruffy and rather desperate.

Watching this thread with interest as I am seriously considering pale smokey mauve low lights. Mid 60's, with 80% white hair, I'm loathe to start a programme of dyeing which will need to be endlessly maintained, but do get very depressed by the aging effect of dead white ?

I think you should go for it, OP. Then post multiple pix to bolster MY confidence!

123kitty desperate for what?

You could also describe them as 'arty', 'bohemian' or 'fun'.
Personally I enjoy seeing people experimenting with hair colours. If it makes women feel good, there's nowt wrong with that.

I have talked with hairdresser and am slightly put off by the fact that she says the pink will fade out after about 2 months and I will be left with bleached streaks - so I will have to keep having it redone. She has suggested that I try some clip-in pink streaks for a while to see how I like it.

Has anyone on here ever used these clip-ins and might be able to tell me something about them? How long you keep them in? Do they fall out etc.?

Lots of thanks.
