Go kitty !!!!
Do post a pic.
I do not believe divorce is a pre-requisite for a makeover! grin
although it does wonders for the self esteem
Hoping MrK is properly appreciative.

Charleygirl Mon 03-Sept-18 13:19:57

kitty there is little point me explaining what the Anzac biscuits were, other than delicious. Naturally the plate is now bare, maybe better luck next time. One has to be quick off the mark for alcohol and biscuits here!

I have not had alcohol since the beginning of May, mainly because of the drugs I am on since surgery. I am beginning to feel that the odd glass with a meal or two would not go amiss.

Greyduster Mon 03-Sept-18 14:10:38

I’m not sure whether they are gluten free, but I suppose as they contain a small amount of plain flour, they may not be, kitty. Other than that, they are just oats, coconut, butter, golden syrup, sugar and bicarbonate of soda. I wondered where they’d all gone, Charley!!

Galen Mon 03-Sept-18 16:07:34

I bless the day when just after my first dgc was born my darling daughter suggested I join this forum called Gransnet.
It was the first forum I’d joined and I’ve found so many virtual friends!
Thankyou all for friendship and tolerance of this grumpy old woman!?

grannyqueenie Mon 03-Sept-18 16:12:10

I think I may be more than a little grumpy myself today, Galen but I’m definitely not old...yet!!

Charleygirl Mon 03-Sept-18 16:16:44

I have no idea how or where I found GN, I stumbled across it many years ago and I have been here ever since. Difficult to get rid of the likes of me.

I have met lovely people in RL and also via correspondence and it has enriched my life finding out how others live etc. I was very touched so many noticed my absence when my computer had a holiday very recently.

Up to my ears in boxes of family photos. Cannot walk safely across the sitting room. I'm trying to sort the HUNDREDS of prints/letters/special cards into groups, so that three sons will have the joy of giving them a good home in the fullness of time. Also going through forty plus albums together with a box labelled "precious keepsakes".

No word from Mr Panache. I'm sure that, when he has news and also the time he'll update us. sunshine

callgirl1 Mon 03-Sept-18 16:54:35

Looks like I`m too late for the biscuits GreyD, they looked delicious.
Anno, sorry about your poor weather, it`s hot and sunny here again for the 4th day running, sorry.
I had my youngest grandchild here for about 3 hours earlier, his mum works at a school that went back today, but Kian doesn`t start until tomorrow.
I`ve been castigated on another forum for mentioning that I`d just bought a new Christmas tree. It`s not as though I`m putting the blinking thing up right now!
Still hoping for news of Panache.

kittylester Mon 03-Sept-18 17:10:52

Looking for news of panache.

I thought you knew callgirl that the C word is not to be used until after our local Street Fair at the beginning of November! grin

Hi Galen. Hope to hear more from you when you have the time.

Just spoken to DD3 who told me that she recently picked Persie (who was 5 in March) up from a sports day camp and, as they were getting in the car, another little girl shouted 'Bye, birthday girl'. When DD gave Persie a questioning look, she said 'Well, I was only joking!'

It was the last day of the camp so DD didn't have to ask whether Persie had told everyone or just the one little girl. DH and I have been tittering about it all afternoon. grin

DH likes the new me - or at least says he does! grin but I've sent photos to all three daughters and only heard from 1 - doesn't auger well!

Back later!

Did you get the style you wanted Kitty? How did you do it? I end up looking a fright because I can't talk the talk and never grasp what they are saying, except it is usually 'Well you can have that if you really want it of course' and then I subside into letting them do what they want.

soop Mon 03-Sept-18 18:00:37

Sorry, no further news of Panache. I usually log off for the rest of the day. I shall leave the computer on sleep and check again before I go to bed. Tomorrow, I shall be care home visiting. Hope to catch up with you lot when I return home. smile moon

cornergran Mon 03-Sept-18 19:00:02

So what did you have done kitty? Something dramatic? Sometimes it takes a while for everyone to get used to a new style.

Family have left now. We had a wonderful extended weekend together, can’t recall when the last one was. I’m sad, missing them, but also looking forward to a couple of quiet days.

Had hoped for news of panache. Will check back tomorrow.

soop after my Dad died I went through my parents stash of photos and made albums for our two as a Christmas gift. One said it was the best gift they could have had. It’s worth the sorting

Take care everyone. Apologies to those I have missed. On with the tidying now then a glass of chilled white is waiting.

I have just returned from an early dinner with the small boys in my life,
and may need to lie down in a darkened room!
The entire meal was taken up with a very serious educational lecture from the 5 year old, with occasional input from his younger brother, on the matter of where babies come from.
In detail.

My cheeks are aching from trying to keep a straight face, and their mother was no help at all, although she did manage to enlighten me as to the nature of a "foofoo" (an expression I had never heard before)
Apparently this is something his best friends big sister will have when she grows up.
Who knew!

I am only grateful they didnt send me home with the usual set of drawings for the kitchen wall.
blush

grannyqueenie Mon 03-Sept-18 19:13:36

Chaos grin grin

Greyduster Mon 03-Sept-18 20:03:57

‘Out of the mouths of babes’, eh, Chaos? You made me laugh. I needed a laugh. DH has just spoken to his sister on the phone - and he said she couldn’t remember my name. Worse than we thought. sad

Nannytopsy Mon 03-Sept-18 21:51:17

grin Chaos!
Well I made it through the whole day at work and there only about 4 more weeks! Eek!

NanaandGrampy Tue 04-Sept-18 08:39:33

Morning all !!

I too need a picture Kitty , having braved a new hairdresser for the first time in many years recently, I now have a bob. Not what I went in for, not what I asked for, but its ok. It may grow on me !!

I'm sorry I missed the Anzac biscuits. A firm favourite in this house too !

I laughed at your dinner conversation Chaos . I love the things kids say and do. When the little boys were here last week Jackson told me that to his amazement when he wiggled his body his 'winky' danced ! Grampy was passing and jokingly said I can do that too, to which Jackson shaking his head sadly replied' No one wants to see your winky Grampy'!!!

I was relieved that neither party offered to show me !!!!

I cannot believe a memory popped up on my FB today that my Mums funeral was 8 years ago. It seems like I only saw her yesterday :-(

On a lighter note , Grampy and I visited Oxburgh Hall yesterday. It was just beautiful . I did manage to drive 'off piste' though and get my scooter stuck in the dirt. As I was alone in the forest I had to get off and give it a push ! That will teach me.

I'll leave you with a couple of pictures and a wish for a good day one and all.

soop Tue 04-Sept-18 09:21:13

No new news to report on Panache. Back later. Off to care home. xxx

soop Tue 04-Sept-18 13:32:29

Home again, and glad to be so. The visits to the dementia resident's lounge is food for thought. Should anything like be part of my personal life span...I would far sooner have one riotous party together with all my family and friends and pop my clogs before daybreak.

I had hoped to find a message from Mr Panache. He is aware of our concern. He has assured me that we will be informed of Panache's treatment. He also knows that our thoughts are with them both. We must be patient.

N&G The winky dance sounds fun! I won't be asking MacSporran to show me the moves. winkgrin

Likewise, Chaos I found myself tittering as I imagined you doing your best to keep a straight face.

kitty PHOTO please. Us nosey lot are waiting.

corner This afternoon's task is to sift and sort through a large box containing almost every greetings card from a member of the family. Oddly, I shall feel a sense of guilt when I forward them to the recycling bin. MacSporran wisely remarked...you've had the pleasure of receiving them. They've served their purpose.

In the loft, in small blue suitcase are all the letters/cards/keepsakes exchanged between my son (when at boarding school) and I. I shall leave them untouched. Son may enjoy the contents in due course...or not wink

Charleygirl Tue 04-Sept-18 13:40:41

OMG soop I am a hoarder but you go OTT keeping your letters from when your son was at boarding school. My mother was the opposite, when my parents died it was so easy emptying the drawers etc. because there was only the bare minimum in them.

I used to leave clothes in a wardrobe in my parent's house in Scotland when I first worked in London but I soon stopped because there would be zilch when I returned. Oh to be like my mother!

soop Tue 04-Sept-18 13:42:35

Charleyg It's a good thing that we are not alike in certain matters. grin

soop Tue 04-Sept-18 17:41:11

Deep breath. I've sifted and sorted ^and disposed of scores of greetings cards. Feeling awfully smug. Three found their way back into my precious keepsake box. hmm Not bad. I'm hoping that you are nodding Charleyg

I shall check with my messages before leaving for ironing duty tomorrow. In fact, I shall not log off the computer until bedtime. Should I receive news of Panache I shall share with you right away.

Hugs for every one of you. I trust that your evening is peaceful. smile moon

ChaosIncorporated Tue 04-Sept-18 18:54:31

What a quiet day in the kitchen.
soop ... thank you for keeping us all in the loop. The lack of an update does have me worrying.
Can I offer reassurance that you are not alone in treasuring cards etc. I have birthday, mothers day and christmas cards dating back decades!
Not to mention a handwritten eulogy to a pet hamster, courtesy of DD2 - aged 7.
This is not called hoarding charleygirl ....it is memorabilia which will be worth a fortune one day! grin

soop I have long since decided to hold my own party, at a certain Swiss clinic. DD2 is horrified by the concept, DD1 has said she will take me! hmmm........
Hopefully we both have some considerable time, yet awhile!!

On a rather more cheerful note, tonights dinner table talk was all about school, which restarts tomorrow. Ten weeks has been more than long enough.

cornergran Tue 04-Sept-18 19:28:15

I’m seriously impressed soop. My card boxes go back to our engagement, 51 years ago. I’ve kept every significant birthday for both of us , all anniversaries and every one produced by the grandchildren p,us some random ones from Mr C. They are all neatly in three boxes. Maybe one day I’ll do a cull, just not yet.

I’m also increasingly concerned about panache. Patience is needed I know.

Had a good day today, some retail therapy (probably too much blush) and a walk by the sea. Nicely chilled out now.

Take care everyone.
