A beautiful day here and a foray into two bookshops with good results. Great drive through the countryside under blue skies. I would like to say that there are treats for the kitchen but all I have to offer are keto biscuits (home made) with almonds and coconut.

Sympathies (and Tiger Balm!) to all those suffering from "the bug".

It has been a funny sort of a day here, and I seem to have been in an accompanying funny mood. Too much time to overthink ...I think!

My goodness, what a lot has been going on in the kitchen this weekend, I think you will be needing something tasty to keep your strength up so have left brandy snaps on the side . So pleased to hear that recovery is the main event, but keep resting folks and don't do too much.
We gave had visitors over the past 3 days which has been really lovely so we are a pair of tired but very happy bunnies! Then yesterday my little sis rang to say she is coming in about 2 weeks time and then another phone call today so we also are going to have DS, DIL and GC coming for the half term holidays and I am very excited about that, joy days to come and not too long to wait and I thought we wouldn't be seeing anyone until next year. Dances jig around the kitchen and retreats into corner with very pink face.

Synonymous love the brandy snaps - thank you. When I was a child there was a cake shop nearby where Mum would buy brandy snap rolls filled with cream - it made the roll soft and chewy so the mention of them takes me back there.

GD back in my youth it was the epitome of style to have a Lambreta scooter - there were rockers with their noisy motor bikes and the mods with their scooters - I fell in with the mod crowd but never managed a ride on one

grannyqueenie so sorry to hear you have some family problems - it's so worrying when they are adults and you find you can only observe and not interfere unless they ask for help. It does make a difference being able to share the worries with your other half though. I hope everything gets sorted out in time. Your fire saga sounds a bit like our fireplace - we have yet to put the (rather old) gas fire back in and be connected up. I'm just waiting for someone to tell us it's not passed the gas safe test and the whole thing will be in the skip! New gas fires as SO expensive!

Re disappearing posts I've had this happen to me when I've gone to a previous page to look at something - solution seems to be to copy before you do it and then paste when you come back so you don't lose the text you're written.

It's bright and sunny here this morning which is showing the dust up something shocking so although I'm on standby for work I'm off to get the duster and polish out to try and bring some sparkle back!

Thanks grans pals for your supportive comments about my ongoing family worry, it always helps to hear that others just want to fix things for their family too. Sadly when they grow up and are parents themselves an Elastoplast and a couple of smarties won’t do the job! Our DS and lovely dil are coping with huge worries about our troubled gd and our hearts just break for them all. Anno these issues that emerge in the teen years are indeed a massive challenge, only 3 of ours are teens but there are 5 more coming up behind them....oh dear, am I up to this I ask myself? I think you’ve got me sussed doodle, I’ll never be offended by the offer of a prayer, thank you. We enjoyed seeing our most local dd and her crew for a roast yesterday, the giddy girls were good fun as always. The new high schooler arrived wearing a little make up (!) but nonetheless seemed to enjoy regressing with granny’s box of farm animals. She’s still a little girl inside, despite the teenage issues that may/may not arise in the future....sigh!

Now on that cheese scone theme, I made some a few weeks ago. While tasty enough they were a bit on the stodgy side so I might try the egg thing next time, I do love a cheese nice scone! Eldest son phone yesterday. No call is ever shorter than 30 minutes duration. On average the call lasts almost three quarters of an hour. He's kind, funny, interesting and interested in our lives far removed from his family in Leicestershire. There isn't a better tonic on the face of the earth than time spent chatting and laughing with him.

I need to know how to disable predictive text on the Kindle. It drives me potty. Corrects my texts incorrectly. Buggerations!!!!

Chaos I couldn’t open your link to the scone recipe but found it on line and have screenshotted it and will have a go. I love cheese scones, but when I make them I usually put some dry mustard powder in too. It gives them a lift flavourwise - if not in any other sense. When our Debenhams had a restaurant you could get wonderful cheese scones, but now it is a franchise and they taste as if they are made with cheese powder. Awful.

Gq I had a little smile about your high schooler! They are still neither fish nor fowl nor good red herring are they? His Nibs was doing his best grown up thing when he stayed here over the weekend, but when he went to bed he said. “Will you sit on my bed for a bit please?” I did. It was freezing, but fortunately he went straight to sleep, so I wasn’t there long! Next morning it’s all body spray and hair gel before he goes to play in a football match! Like you, though, I look forward to those teenage years with a modicum of trepidation. I hate this whole social media thing and the way it seems to take over young (and not so young) lives.

I have been overwhelmed by the lovely messages sent personally and through the Kitchen,they have meant so very much at a trying time,I shall answer all in time, but please understand that this MD diagnoses has rather blighted my love of writing.....whilst having no Ipad or tablet (as yet,perhaps Father Christmas will deliver?).......my days on the Pc are very curtailed now.

My dear man has not known where he is at times, being in Hospital the most of every day throughout, whilst keeping our home ready and allowing in viewers..........no mean task, and I think he could well do with a good rest!
Now back to nursing and a good one at that.

My thoughts have been very much with you all and as always, especially with Ann and Maw.
I have now caught up with reading but please understand my participation has sadly been very much “clipped” much to my frustration.

What a lovely surprise panache, it’s so kind of you to let us know how you are. What a time you’ve had and your lovely man must be worn out, not just the physical aspects of it all but seeing the one he loves so unwell will have taken its toll emotionally too. Yeah its so good to see you back Panache - Mr P has done a sterling job keeping us up to date as well as looking after you and your house - he definitely deserves a very special thank you from us all. Yes it's a bit of a blow about the eye diagnosis but my MiL coped amazingly still producing beautiful hanging baskets, baking and cooking her famous dustbin lid size Yorkshire Puds. When you're feeling stronger look into all the help available such as special programs for reading/writing by speaking, keyboards with coloured keys (she could see yellow much easier) and gadgets such as talking clocks, rubber dots to stick on the microwave or remote control and something which helps with pouring hot water into a cup. Technology has moved on hugely since she developed MD so there are bound to be many more things out there. In the meantime enjoy being back in your own home and being spoiled by family and friends
