Anyone else feeling somewhat uncomfortable/irritated/slightly shocked at the ridiculous cost of recent outfits worn by Meghan and Kate? I can't get my head round it really, just seems wrong!

Grandma70s Fri 05-Oct-18 15:50:29

I don’t know what they cost, but it’s normal enough, isn’t it, for people with loads of money to wear expensive clothes?

Anniebach Fri 05-Oct-18 16:01:12

Kate is the daughter of a millionaire and wife of a husband who is a millionaire, he was left half his mothers money in her will, she had over twenty million, and the queen mother left him several million

I think Kate balances her wardrobe quite well. Yes, her "posh" outfits for state and royal occasions are expensive, but she also wears high street dresses etc on less formal outings.
She is also known for her 10 year old knee high boots !

Not following any of them I m sure they are all over privileged and spend ridiculous amounts from the Queen downwards

MissAdventure Fri 05-Oct-18 16:17:29

I never read anything about the royals, so I have no idea what they spend.
Its all out of my league, the same as anyone who has lots of money, so its one less thing I have to worry about.
Primark for me!

If they all went to Marks or Next we would think they were being mean with their money!
I think Kate spreads it well - she has to make sure her clothes are made of lovely fabric and beautifully made when she is with other royalty etc. They also need to be comfortable when worn.

I think they both look great but I'd like to see Meghan favouring British designers a bit more.

uncomfortable/irritated/slightly shocked?

Nah, I couldn't care less what other people spend their money on.

Greenfinch Fri 05-Oct-18 16:59:29

I am with you madgran. My gut feeling is that it is obscene and unnecessary but then I have no time at all for royalty. The inequality of wealth in this country disturbs me a lot.

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 17:45:03

I am intensely relaxed about what other people wear

Chewbacca Fri 05-Oct-18 17:56:37

Ditto Jalima! grin

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 17:59:35

Ditto Jalima

Anniebach Fri 05-Oct-18 18:50:12

i Couldn’t care less what people pay for their clothes, wish Megan would discover there are more colours than black and navy

Jalima1108 Fri 05-Oct-18 19:25:24

oh dear, I am a bit of a navy person
but I do have a brighter top on today smile

Anniebach Fri 05-Oct-18 19:48:01

Well, ok, i am wearing navy trousers ?

M0nica Fri 05-Oct-18 20:25:59

Most of the garments the Duchess of Cambridge was wearing were clothes she had worn before and were obviously staples in her wardrobe, not bought new for the event. I seem to remember that one garment came form Zara. She is well off, so she buys expensive brands, why not?

I went clothes shopping today and just walked past New Look and Primark, preferring the more expensive Monsoon and M&S. Why shouldn't I?

Chewbacca Fri 05-Oct-18 20:50:27

People in the public eye, and what clothes they choose to wear, have been the source of much discussion for decades. I can distinctly remember Norma Major being pilloried and laughed at, for wearing a navy blue suit she'd made herself, for John Major's first speech. Seems they can't win either way.

Elegran Fri 05-Oct-18 21:09:17

I think some of you need to decide which it is you want to object to - is it that they have the money or that they spend what they have on nice clothes (exactly as anyone else who can afford it does) ?

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 21:27:56

I think it may be both Elegran grin crown

Anniebach Fri 05-Oct-18 21:31:08

I am only interested to see what they wear, couldn’t care less the cost.

Overthehills Fri 05-Oct-18 21:48:24

What Jalima said!
Sorry Annie - I’m a navy “girl” and anything that goes with it! grin

lemongrove Fri 05-Oct-18 21:51:34

Does a navy girl mean all the nice girls love a sailor?

Overthehills Fri 05-Oct-18 22:09:07

Lemon grin

Anniebach Fri 05-Oct-18 22:35:39

Me thinks I have put my foot in it , sorry navy lovers - colour nor sailors ?
