Naked Bodies on TV!

Husband out later than usual, flicking the channels to fill the time (don't want to go to bed until he gets home), Came across Naked Attraction. Girl studying six men's naked bodies to choose a date! Discussing which p***s she prefers. Is this what the world has come to!!? She gets down to choosing between two and then takes her clothes off as well. I think I would prefer to see their faces.
I don't expect comments. Really , what can you say, unless you think I'm terribly old fashioned. My granny would NOT believe it if she were alive. I cant believe it!

Thanks MissA.

Ive seen a few minutes of it and switched over.
That presenter has been on other similar programmes but at least they did have some educational value. The one I'm thinking of was advising teenagers on STIs and contraception as far as I remember. The teens were remarkably ignorant although enjoying a frequent and varied sex life.
She ( the presenter) has built a career on programmes about sex. Got a vague memory that she might be medically qualified.

I find it weirdly compelling. They have all sorts of people on, all shapes and sizes and gender combinations. And I do think the facts they give on human sexuality etc in cartoon form are informative.
The trouble is, it very rarely seems to work out between the contestant and the one chosen. But I don't think many people here have watched to the end :-)

Seen the programme once, it's pants.
I wouldn't waste my time watching it. Seen one you've seen 'em all. grin

mabon1 Sun 04-Nov-18 15:53:32

Don't watch it again

PECS Sun 04-Nov-18 16:17:47

Gabriella Or not pants! grin

I watch this with fascination and horror. Very few of the bodies haven't been 'modified' in some way which is in itself rather sad. There are two things which are obviously 'wrong' about it.
1, it encourages people to put the cart before the horse iyswim - instead of forming a relationship first and then going on to the next stage. I know that this is the point of the programme but it's still wrong-headed.
2, many of the men are just looking for a 'roll in the hay' (though they don't admit it) and then they move on.
I don't think anyone involved has actually found Mr or Miss Right and I don't think they're likely to.
Harmless 'entertainment'? Or are people actually getting hurt? It's a bit like 'car crash' television.

I watched it a few times but then found it boring. I agree with Phoenix about using better terms than 'vagina', it is either labia or pudenda? and it was strange that they were all shaved in the programmes I watched. It amazed me that it was allowed on the tv in the first place!

PECS Sun 04-Nov-18 16:45:48

I cannot imagine what goes on in the mind of any person whowants their sexual organs to be displayed on TV for the only purpose of possibly winning a shag!

inishowen Sun 04-Nov-18 16:56:39

I saw the programme once and couldn't believe my eyes! The last show apparently had a local boy/man on it. I don't know he can go shopping in Tesco, or to work, after everyone he knows seeing his bits.

grumppa Sun 04-Nov-18 16:58:06

What other purpose would be appropriate, PECS?

I stumbled across the programme while channel hopping the other evening, and all things consideted thought I stood up quite well in comparison.

I didn't find genitalia particularly attractive even when I was madly in lust with someone so this programme certainly isn't titillating in anyway at all to me. I far prefer men with their clothes on. I've also decided I couldn't ever be bi-sexual as I think women's genitalia is even more revolting. I thought Blind Date was irritating but Naked Attraction is just blurgh!

allsortsofbags Sun 04-Nov-18 18:28:00

Willow 500 I think this program put the knobbly knees contests right in the shade :-)

I only saw about 3 mins of it because my sister and I sat down to watch something she'd recorded but she'd got the wrong night or channel and our jaws just dropped.

Sis said "Well I am NOT watching that trash" and I was so relieved as she had the TV control :-)

moggie57 Sun 04-Nov-18 18:48:28

i laugh.... and the word is PENIS

PECS Sun 04-Nov-18 19:23:55

Well grumppa there is art, health, drama.. all might be a legit reason for a person to be naked on TV but close ups of genitalia to see if it's the 'preferred one' is just crass.

Shizam Sun 04-Nov-18 23:04:39

I love a daft show. First Dates etc. But Naked Atrraction is full-on yuck. Whole point of flirting killed by genitals. Less is more guys.

Came across this for the first time only this week. Could not believe it. Those folk must be paid a fair amount to take part. Has anyone ever made a decision on who to go out with on a date by say meeting in a pub or restaurant and then telling them to take their clothes/trousers off before they will sit and chat or eat. It's yet another of societies demeaning perceptions of what is important.

Just what I was thinking, travelsafar.

Couldn't resist adding my two-pennorth here, in support of OP annep.

Having said that, I would add that I don't usually comments on posts on the Gransnet forum (even though I quite enjoy reading posts in my GN emails) because I've noticed a bit of uncalled-for sniping and barely-disguised bullying towards some posters, whose posts are never challenging in the least. Not my cuppa at all.

Is the "p" silent in you name, or can't you spell? grin

petra Mon 05-Nov-18 08:49:19

barbh
Did you not read that annep laughed at MissA and Phoenix posts.
There are too many people now doing their best to crush what is unique to the uk: our sense of humour. It's envied and admired all over the world.
Don't let the pearl clutches crush this as I feel it is in jeapardy.
annep
I knew you had a sense of humour grin

annep Mon 05-Nov-18 10:27:22

Thank you barbh for your well intentioned support. You obviously missed my earlier post.
Yes there are on rare occasions remarks that aren't nice but they are the exception. You shouldn't let it stop you joining in. GN can be fun and also very helpful.
I thought there was some great humour from Phoenix and MissA in particular, and didn't take offence.
I don't usually share but my husband found the thread entertaining too!

GillyEB Mon 05-Nov-18 12:05:38

Miss adventure how many times have you watched it? And why?

SparklyGrandma Mon 05-Nov-18 16:45:16

I agree pheonix..

Now where are the smelling salts?

wellwalked Mon 05-Nov-18 17:40:49

I don't own a tv.
I suppose I could look it up on the internet but am with other posters - what does that say about society/individuals if the choice of 'entertainment' is oogling a penis that's not attached to a loved one?

AlieOxon Mon 05-Nov-18 18:30:20

This actually reminds me of ancient Roman slave auctions...... naked people displayed before the customer..........
What extraordinary things we call entertainment!
