Does this happen to you?!

I don't understand why she went home to change? Whoever would notice such a thing and even if they did, why would it matter and why would they care and even more so, why would OP and her daughter care? My daughter and I once wore exactly the same coat for an outing but neither of us went back indoors to change. It might have bothered me when I was 14 but now, not a chance.

Beau, that occurred to me. There have been several times in my life when I have been to an event and someone has been wearing the same outfit as me. I have never felt the need to want to go home and change.

As we (2 DDs &I) live in the same small town with 7 clothes shops, ranging from a more expensive independent, 2 other independents & 4 High St stores there is a good chance we could dress similarly... so far we have not said ' snap'!

Beau, my daughter didn't have to go anywhere else to change, she'd arrived to stay with us. And everyone would have noticed if she hadn't changed - it was only a small gathering in our garden, the garment was very bright and distinctive, and we'd have looked like some deliberate double-act. I minded less than she did - no one wants to find they're dressing like their mother! Coats are a bit different -my other daughter has a couple of coats very similar to mine, but they're fairly neutral (navy and cream) and no one would notice if we wore them together.

Once on a group hoiday with about 12 people, another woman and I had brought the same fancy skirt (M&S) for wearing to dinner in the evenings. Somehow, by a sort of telepathy, we never actually wore them together, although we wouldn't have cared if we had. We did joke about how if we'd known, we could just have packed one skirt between us to wear on alternate nights.
