If you voted for Brexit - would you vote for it again, knowing what you know now? However you voted, do you think we should have another referendum - a peoples' vote?

Nanny41 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:19:47

No, not another referendum please, this could go on for ever.

Lynn1 Thu 15-Nov-18 10:19:03

I voted Leave and would do so again. I am with Jamilia all the way!

Several Remain voting friends would now vote Leave as the EU has shown its true colours during the negotiations.

It is NATO which has given us peace for the last 70 years and EU members should first of all pay their 3% before throwing money at an unnecessary army.

Power to your elbow Jamilia!

a million times yes and add another million times YES

When we won the last world war, it was unbelievable that our great country could still be controlled by the EU,so in a way we still lost. They have been making idiots out of us ever since. Of course we should leave and regain our self respect. We never should have joined. We have had endless recessions, unemployment, now losing our NHS. I Say get out while we still have something to fight for. Excuse me (Rant over).

I think after every General Election if we do not like the outcome then we should have the campaign to have another election, ridiculous 'yes'.

Respect what the people have voted for. We never had any choice to join the 'Common Market' but Thank You David Cameron for giving me the choice to Leave.

Amen

Grammaretto
16/17 yr olds having a vote???
What olcnet are you on?
They know nothing about life, finances, the workplace, politics, most can't even spell or add up. Many are still living at home having everything done for them in their 30s. Budgeting? They've never heard of it.
They wouldn't have the nous to understand the ramifications of any government decisions on trade. They haven't lived.
Heads buried in their iphones (bought by parents) and only interested in selfies, getting drunk at weekends (or whenever) and sex.

henetha Thu 15-Nov-18 10:02:57

Yes.
No.

LuckyFour Thu 15-Nov-18 10:00:19

I voted remain and I would still vote remain.

Another vote would be good but the government would need to put clear explanations forward so that there is no doubt what leaving or staying entails. People should not have been asked to decide about something so important without proper information.

GabriellaG Thu 15-Nov-18 09:59:25

YES I would vote to leave 'til the cows come home.
NO I am definitely not in f vour of another vote.
People's vote? Wasn't it people who voted last time...or was it sheep?

123coco Thu 15-Nov-18 09:56:27

Still so many deluded leavers. We live in Trump times now. Ikow I would rather be very closely aligned with my nearest neighbours than e tried to a totally petulant untrustworthy psychopath!

Bobdoesit Thu 15-Nov-18 09:54:16

I voted to leave and would vote the same way if asked again, but I very much hope that won’t happen. We need to leave and move on.

4allweknow Thu 15-Nov-18 09:51:56

All those years ago when Britain signed up for EU 16/17 year olds weren't involved in the decision then and they have grown up knowing nothing else as have many others. Originally it was all about the Common Market but has grown to be an all encompassing body of expensive bureacrats. Yes, I would still vote the same.

PECS Thu 15-Nov-18 09:50:59

CassieJ there are some societies that do use consensus as their governing tool! However I rather feel there are far too many opinions on leaving the European Union to ever get an agreed consensus! There will always be half the country unhappy. Not a very healthy situation for a nation to be in.
I continue to believe it would be better to be part of the EU and to improve the processes and systems as a member state.
However it looks as if we will be going it alone and become the small fry with the sharks of US, China & Russia circling.

anitamp1 Thu 15-Nov-18 09:48:30

I voted to stay in. But what would happen if we had a vote and it resulted in staying in and it was very marginal - similar margin to the leave vote. There would be even more chaos and bad feeling.

Crazygran Thu 15-Nov-18 09:47:56

Yes, yes, yes and I will never vote again if we have another referendum,

sue01 Thu 15-Nov-18 09:47:38

Yes I would.

Why ?

European Army.

silvercollie Thu 15-Nov-18 09:45:47

Flexible Friend

I am with you.

Nanniejc1 Thu 15-Nov-18 09:44:16

Everyone I know voted to leave the EU,family ,friends ,young & old .I don’t think any of us have changed our minds, just want to walk away........Brussels is just punishing us for daring to leave.Think lots of people are even more determined now to leave because our country has been treated by contempt by the EU & we are a laughing stock.Hopefully it will be voted down & May will at long last go!

Jalima

" The most worrying part of this, for me, is not that this is the EU suggesting this, it is that it is the leaders of France and Germany putting this forward.

They are not the EU but these two alone are seeing themselves increasingly as the leaders of Europe."
--

It has been the EU ' calling for this ' !

Macron and Merkel are merely ratcheting up what has been on the cards for ages.

As for Macron and Merkel if they say jump the other members jump ,. When they have both left office , which may be sooner rather than later, it will be whom ever takes their place as Germany and France belong to the dominant party in the European Parliament.

Is the Independent independent enough?

I think Corbyn & Co are playing a dangerous game of politics when they say they want a second Referendum and wanting to remain in the EU .

Surely if Labour gain the keys to No 10 they would not be able to get there renationalisation promises through because of EU State Regulation Rules.

I think most people see through the sham of Corbyn who has voted against the EU for 30 years and his U Turn since the Referendum . His flip flop does not stack up. Labour would be in as much of a division over Leave or Remain as the Conservatives.
