Phew! SO glad to be back in this lovely kitchen! Have been on a couple of other threads that I hadn't tried before - shan't be going back!

I agree Soop, the medical practice at Muasdale is second to none. Love the ornament.
My friend with the prostate problem has been given a date for his op, January 16th, fingers crossed all will go well, Mavis wouldn`t want things otherwise.
I`ve just reluctantly put the light on, the tree lights look so pretty in the dark.
Corner, I hope you are enjoying the relaxing of the rules today. What will be your tipple of choice?

Evening All from a very happy Corner. Thank you all for your concern, delighted to report no discomfort today. Hot drinks are permitted again although the soft diet remains until Friday, that’s fine, can do that. Horrid salt water rinses also continue, yuck, but I’m overlooking those . In any case I’ve been out for a walk and to the shops. Coffee turned into lunch . Normal service is resumed . I’m about to be an even happier Corner with a glass of chilled white.

Yes, aren’t the trees magical in the dark callgirl? I love ours, not sure why I was so reluctant to install it. Lazy I suspect .

I have faith in Tabitha soop, she’ll be back when she’s ready. Hope your burn heals quickly, I’ve one on a finger from three weeks ago that is stubbornly refusing to heal. Arent they a nuisance? Guess the answer is to be more careful, sadly that doesn’t seem to work for me . I’ll be wishing your neighbour well tomorrow. She will be in good hands.

Your Mums expression confirms she is drawn to you dragonfly. It’s awful to be cold so the duvet and blanket will make a world of difference. How wonderful to feel cared for when you are visiting, the care is well deserved.

It’s always been important to me to have photos on display of family no longer with us. Ours are in one of those multi frames, so both sets of parents and my grandparents (Mr C doesn’t have photos of his grandparents). We don’t put flowers by them but instead make sure the frame is positioned so they can see the garden. They all loved gardens as they did Christmas so they also look at the tree. It just seemed right if a little unusual.

That sounds a better day weather-wise panache, long may it last.

Feet up time now. No gallivanting for me tomorrow, it will be a serious catch up day. Hope kitty will be back with us soon, these things are more than frustrating,

Bargain of the year. I was trudging round M&S this afternoon, and decided I needed a new blusher - I'm naturally pallid - so selected the cheapest one I could see - £14. When I got the the checkout, I was flabbergasted to find that it rang up as £1.39. The checkout assistant thought it might be a discontinued colour. My vanity is vindicated!

Up bright and early this morning. It is our Slimming World Christmas party this morning at 09:30. Now Slimming World and party do not go hand in hand in my opinion but regardless I have been up stuffing cherry tomatoes and devilling eggs as my contribution although why anyone would want to eat them at that time of the day confounds me !!

I do love a bargain Anno !! Grampy is making Cooper a kennel for his much awaited new toy dog that Santa is bringing and needed tiny screws . He got to the till in B & Q with the 10 he needed and the man didn't charge him because they were sold by the bag ( that would have meant buying 50 or more . He was a happy chap all day!
I shall post a picture of the finished article.

Its a boy thing Corner his Mum was mortified and his Dad laughed - I rest my case !!

Enjoy your baby sitting NannyT . I do know how you feel and our move a year ago put paid to that feeling and now I really do value every visit .

I've run out of ways to procrastinate so now must get on with the tedious 'stuff' that has a way of building up when my back is turned. On the other hand if anyone has any procrastination tips please do share, I'm always happy to add to the repetoire.

Just made a difficult decision. Just spoke to a paramedic who had been called out to my mum. She had a funny turn this morning. She has a UTI and is on antibiotics. They wanted to know whether they should send her to hospital for assessment or let the GP see her later on his planned visit. I opted for the GP as I see no sense in sending her to hospital where she will sit around for hours before she is seen only to be sent home. She is 98 with dementia. It is very difficult to know what to do for the best.

Dragonfly46 I hope the GP can sort out your Poor Mum , much better to have her in her own environment as long as it is feasible , I found it often needed a different antib to sort out UTI,

Sounds the right thing to do dragonfly, if your Mum really needs hospital the GP will advise, for the moment she is comfortable at home and as aggie says a change of antibiotic may be the answer. I'm so sorry you have this additional worry. Hugs to you and your Mum

From years of experience with my parents, when in doubt, at such a great age, they preferred to be cared for by those who knew and understood them, even when they themselves were confused. They still had an understanding of being looked after in a familiar place. I do hope your mum responds well to the medication. Back when I have written my cards.

Hello all - I've been very lax these last days - reading all the posts and intending to reply but then things have overtaken me and the moment has gone. So now I am very much behind with everyone's news and no hope of catching up.

Dragonfly I think you made the right call - at 98 your mum doesn't want to be sitting around in A&E for hours on end.

Maw I also have fireplace envy - yours looks lovely.

Corner pleased your tooth extraction went well - a soft diet (or a liquid one) is rough but you can blend most things - and melt chocolate . I've just been to the hygienist today who asked if my tooth problem had subsided - we were both relieved when I said it didn't hurt much now. I'm sure it will come back to haunt me later on!

Soop I hope your burn heels up - they're so painful and seem to get worse before they get better. Hope Tabitha returns - such a waste of her lovely warm inviting shelter. I love your decorations too. Here is a little decoration I made yesterday after raiding my dolls house which can go in the corner by the window - I got the idea off the decorating site I'm on.

I have had to buy Alfie a small round rug to go under the bed at the bungalow which is where he spends most of his time when in residence - it's bare laminate under there and Mr W is most concerned he's cold. I found a cat shaped scratching board in Lidl the other day - I thought it might detract Daph from scratching the dining room chair leg which seems to have offended her in some way so she has to attack it. They both love this board so I've gone down and managed to get the last one this morning to take to the seaside for them.

Two more days and I will become a kept woman - daunting!

Our neighbour went for surgery forty two minutes ago. A triple heart by-pass. I am sending all manner of good vibes across the miles.

Happy care home visit for me. You did the right thing, dragonfly. A wise decision.
We in the care home sang songs. Funny thing is, I'm tone deaf...yet, I feel happy to join in, because just about every other person is tone deaf too.We all clapped each other and cheered.

A lovely couple ave just this minute delivered a box of luxury cat food pouches for Tabitha. aren't people kind.

I felt the same NannyT but that is the time our class is so I see the rationale. As it turns out it was good fun although the food was a bit dodgy. Lets be honest low fat , low cal is never really going to make the grade in comparison to the 'good' stuff :-)

Exciting though Willow !! I know when I stopped work and Grampy worked on for a year it took some getting used to but now 4 years down the line I'm as happy as a Norfolk pig in mud :-)

Soop I hope for the best for your friend in surgery, and yes, people are kind but they would have to go a long way to beat you and MacS. I hope Tabitha gets the message and comes “home”! Could you not lead her out of the forest with a little trail of titbits? (I have had a CD of Hansel and Gretel on in the kitchen this afternoon!! It didn’t work for them!)

DH has been rather over attentive today and he got in my hair big style, so in order to buy myself some peace and quiet in the kitchen, I banished him on a quest to find a particular brand of locally manufactured pickles that are a favourite with our family and appear to be as rare as rocking horse poo these days. I imagined he would have to range far and wide, following a star (if you put “pickles” into a sat nav it merely assumes you want to get into one! Our sat nav is good at that), but no! His first port of call was the supermarket down the road, from whence he reported they had just three jars, so I ordered him to check the sell by dates and buy two (I am not greedy). So he was back in no time and my plan was foiled! Drat! He makes a lovely cup of tea, though!
