Where to start? I`ve been absent from GN for a couple of days because the site just wouldn`t behave and work properly for me. Now I need to play catch up but feel a bit out of my depth!
Panache, lovely long, newsy post, I`m glad things are moving apace for you both, but by the sound of things there isn`t a lot left of you. Do they have any plans for bulking you up?
Kitty, lovely photos, and nice to put faces to you and Mr Lester, you both look lovely, your hubby is a very distinguished looking man, isn`t he?
Soop, please, please get the GP to MacSporran TOMORROW, not midweek, the poor man has been suffering for too long now, it`s also not doing your health any good.
Synonymous, weigh into the situation, your man deserves the best that can be done.
I know I`ll have missed many people out, but me brain`s not what it was!
After waiting from last May for the adult social care people to get in touch regarding Lynne, we finally had a call on Friday, and an assessment team is coming next Friday morning. Dawn says she`ll be here as well, as I don`t always remember what to ask or say.
So sorry to all the folk I`ve missed out, I still love you all!

PS
I just remembered, IN was so sorry to read your bad news MawB, and yours as well Soop, very sad.

callgirl1 Sun 13-Jan-19 23:14:55

I, not IN!!

Nannytopsy Sun 13-Jan-19 23:46:59

What a busy day in the kitchen! I think a few DHs are in need of care and attention. Synonymous that infection needs looking at ASAP - it shouldn’t be marching anywhere.
Hope everyone has a good night x

Synonymous Mon 14-Jan-19 10:38:03

Oh Ann I am so pleased for your DD. These natural, God given remedies might take a little longer occasionally but are so effective if used correctly. I wouldn't be without them.
I have already started on the " nag, nag, nag" ! We shall see how far that goes. A friend in the profession expressed concern yesterday and knows the surgeon so I am hoping that he just 'might bump into him today' - you never know. Himself did not sleep as well as he might last night so is not a happy bunny today but that will be all 'grist to the mill' if I can get him in to see the GP.
I shall return!

Twin2 Mon 14-Jan-19 11:54:45

Good Morning. I’ve been sent this by a friend who thought it might help me ! (Didn’t realise I needed some).

Give.
Connect.
Take notice.
Stay active
Keep learning.

I’m giving you all my best wishes.
I’ve started on Gransnet
I’ve noticed the sun breaking through.
I’ve walked to the shops
and I’m learning my friend may be right ?

Twin2 Mon 14-Jan-19 12:15:20

Literally my friend just phoned (normally only see her twice a year and occasional phone chats ) to see if I’ve done my daily task ! No pressure

soop Mon 14-Jan-19 12:56:18

Synonymous Get on to your husband's GP pretty damn quick. His case should be top priority.

Charleygirl5 Mon 14-Jan-19 12:58:14

soop please follow your own excellent advice for MacSporran!

dragonfly46 Mon 14-Jan-19 13:06:40

Synonymous I hope you get some joy from the hospital. Your DH should be a top priority especially as they had the gap of Christmas in between.

Soop have you made that appointment yet?

I love that Twin2 and taking note!

I am afraid I had a meltdown last night - totally unreasonably. I was so tired of seeing my DH wallowing in his pain. He did not get dressed for two days and would hardly get out of bed. Eventually he asked if I was cross with him and I exploded. I told him - I have cancer, I have an appointment tomorrow which I will have to attend alone and I feel let down! He went very quiet but this morning he got up, had a sort of shower and got dressed so I am at least feeling a lot better. I don't think it did anything for his pain levels though but now started him on Turmeric so maybe that will work.

soop Mon 14-Jan-19 13:07:37

Thank you for your kindly comments on MacSporran's condition. Last night, he slept reasonably well. The coughing fits were less violent. He naps throughout the day. Do not fear, I am being watchful. I insist on giving him plenty of fluids. He enjoys a dash of elderflower cordial in warm water.

Twin2 When you decided to join us lot you made a wise decision. wink We all muck in, care for each other and there is no possibility of being shouted down. We forbid it. Support there is aplenty. x

soop Mon 14-Jan-19 13:12:36

dragonfly You are human. Humans need to express their feelings and sometimes, let off a lot of pent-up emotion. You have cleared the air. I wish that one of us lot could accompany you to the hospital. Please continue to off-load here in the kitchen. If you feel like sharing, do return to update us. Please. flowers

Greyduster Mon 14-Jan-19 14:45:26

Well I didn’t manage to poke my nose into the kitchen yesterday, and things have gone at a gallop as per!

Synonymous I hope your DH gets the attention he needs sooner rather than later - his condition sounds as if it more than warrants it!??

Soop good to hear that MacS had a better night but he is obviously not out of the woods yet. I will send him some of my sloe gin. It cures everything. Well, if it doesn’t you soon forget that you need it!

Kitty it was lovely to see all the pictures of pretty girls and handsome boys at your party, and the delightful photo of you and your DH! I also chickened out on junior footie yesterday on the grounds that it was so windy it might have blown me away - I am on’y lickle! They lost. One opposition goal was wind assisted? apparently! Hope Bertie’s team had better luck!

N&G I have yet to see a better smile than Jackson’s! He should get an award for it. Cooper seems to have “first school photo” nerves, but it is a lovely picture of the two of them! Nice that they can be photographed together - I didn’t know they did that.

Dragonfly, exactly what Soop said! {{hugs}}?.

I have to fly. We are off to do the school run shortly. Leave you with a picture I took from my kitchen window this morning. I was praying she wouldn’t fly away before I got the camera out!

Panache Mon 14-Jan-19 14:56:24

Could it be a day for exploding?!

After such stillness and lack of attention from those whom should be offering us support I am beginning to wonder can there be such a thing as an overload?
Having just experienced first class trip to Hospital (for the first of many heart assessments for my man) and back home via Private car...........faultless and very considerate.
Then a phone call from SS making an appointment whom are coming along to assess our ongoing needs..........after the abyss of no care, it seems as if someone has well and truly awakened up to our great need.............and I am NOT complaining!!!

However on reading through, I see dear ones in great need at this moment so I shall quietly retreat after that little blow out and hope with all within me that the necessary help is forthcoming to your dear man Synon ymous...........post haste I would say........and also to your home Dragonfly before you well and truly upset yourself further.....
Whilst poor MacS seems in dire need too.

Sending my love and sincerely hoping help is on its way.

soop Mon 14-Jan-19 15:08:30

Greyduster That is one impressive bird. He looks even more handsome against the clear blue sky. Full marks for a superb photograph.

Dear Panache It is such a comfort to hear that you are, at long last, benefitting from the system. And not before time. Thank you to our Granspal's intervention. What a star! flowers

soop Mon 14-Jan-19 15:13:48

I have managed to botch the watercolour painting that had being going well for several days. I overworked an area. In doing so, the area became "muddy-looking". I tried holding the painting under the shower. I've had some success in the past. Not this time! Mea culpa! hmm. Back to the drawing board...
Does anyone have cake? I would so love a huge slice. The stickier, the better.

Greyduster Mon 14-Jan-19 15:36:50

No, Soop, no sticky cake but I can contribute a nice custard tart. Overworking is my biggest watercolour fault, so you have my sympathy!

callgirl1 Mon 14-Jan-19 16:07:42

Beautiful photos GreyD.

Charleygirl5 Mon 14-Jan-19 16:26:36

Panache did SS mention if it was this year you were to be assessed? Time does not appear to mean too much.

Bellanonna Mon 14-Jan-19 16:37:39

Welcome Twin2! Nice to see you.
Grey, a peregrine in your garden? How lucky are you!

Izabella Mon 14-Jan-19 17:01:29

Fear not soup there are toasted teacakes available and proper farmhouse cheddar cheese if required.

I spent yesterday in a bit of a fug, checked my blood glucose levels convinced they were up and the cake etc. over Christmas time had reawakened my type 2 (all normal) and wondered why the floor was swaying around. Gave up trying to watch the last of the wonderful rivers series then discovered I had been wearing my computer glasses all day, hence the blurred vision. Sometimes I really wonder about myself.

Panache so pleased you are getting help in abundance and dragonfly yes you are allowed to let off steam. As for everyone else, I hope life is bearable, lurgies receding and so on. Its dark here now but there is a noticeable lengthening of days, the daffs are up and the snowdrops offering their dancing heads to the breeze.

I managed a swim today and feel grateful my body is returning to normal (albeit with the inhalers poolside) although cycle training is a way off yet which is disappointing.

Finally soop have you taken your own advice yet and had MacS attended to? And I note your sadness in your village friend dying. So sorry.

Greyduster Mon 14-Jan-19 17:05:07

Bellanonna a peregrine would be beyond my wildest dreams! It’s but a humble female sparrowhawk, but since we never see anything more exotic than a robin, I am more than excited by her presence, even if the sparrows aren’t!?.

Charleygirl5 Mon 14-Jan-19 17:11:15

All we see here are flipping pigeons.

Mamissimo Mon 14-Jan-19 17:12:37

Where do these days go?
I’m so pleased that Panache is awash with care and consideration and only wish that everyone else was getting the support they need. It seems to me that we all have to badger to keep life moving forward far more than in the past. It doesn’t seem mannerly to me!

I have been busy making a quilt for my GD’s Christening and after a year of gentle effort it’s done. I’m pleased with it and have ordered a wooden box for it to keep it safe. Only trouble is my DD is already expecting again so I have to make another one!

We have men in this week to install air source heating and solar. We live in the countryside and have no gas so have been using a multfuel burner for the last 30 years. We will be so glad not to have the ashes and dust anymore.

The lurgy cough continues to drive us mad so I send my sincerest wishes to all other suffers. Honey, lemon and whiskey cookies on the table!

Bellanonna Mon 14-Jan-19 17:15:52

?ah well that’s better than my daily magpies and woodpigeons Grey! Good photo btw!
