Good Morning Everyone,
Its windy but dry here in Brackley this morning , will attempt to go out later to my usual haunts .
Had the experience of a power cut yesterday around 5 pm , lasted 45 minutes , ending up having to do a complete first time reinstall on the TV once the power had been restored plus other checks.

Good morning everyone, very breezy here on the south coast, and hopefully this message will get through which is more than the past three or four have done, not sure what I have done (or not) to upset the powers that be. Enjoy your days, I am off to help get the teas for a visiting bowls club, who come for the day and spend some time on the beach - best of luck for that today.

Good morning everyone,

Very windy in Brittany overnight and even now. Garden furniture all over the place.

Off to a textile fete this afternoon in Lorient, looking forward to it as I'm mad about all things fabric.

Have a good day all x

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is wet underfoot but has stopped raining. I joined a minimeetup of Gransnetters yesterday and luckily we were indoors eating most of the time or on the bus! I felt sorry for the Festival goers drowned rats in Edinburgh but at least we avoided the power cuts. I would not have had my TV working again Mick I'd have to call an engineer.

I hope it's dry for the wedding Marydoll
Look forward to hearing about it.
We are halfway round painting the walls of the sitting room and hope to get it finished over the weekend.
Have a fun time if you can everyone..

Good morning from Malta where it’s as hot as Hades.?

Meeting a Pal for coffee this morning then taking her to visit her husband who has been in hospital for over 8 weeks now. Her car broke down in the hospital car park yesterday so she had to leave it there.

Have a lovely day, all. Hope the wedding goes well Marydoll and that you will enjoy the happy occasion.

Take care.☀️

Goodmorning from a very windy SE Essex.

Sar53 I would think that the QE2 bridge will be closed looking at my trees, they will just divert you through one of the tunnels (usual procedure)

Marydoll enjoy your wedding, I am sure you will look stunning.

The rain has just started!!!

Have to pop to local shops for newspaper and milk other than that no plans until babysitting later.

Keep safe and dry.

Good morning, it is dry with watery sun here in the NE. Weather is very fickle, we did not get any of the storms or very much in the way of rain. Watching the weather radar showed the storm clouds part and go either side of us ?
Have a wonderful day Marydoll, fingers crossed for decent weather.
Both of my DC were married in August, eleven years apart, but had spectacular weather.

Morning Mick, morning All. Grey, wet and oh so windy in our corner of Somerset. Feel for families arriving for a holiday, they must want to turn and go home. Major admin catch up day for me today, financial ‘stuff’ to sort. Mr C will double check, generally a tedious process. Enjoy the wedding maryd, hope Saturday is kind to everyone.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Hope everyone has a good day x

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s very hot (again). The Terral wind was back again last night but next week is forecast cooler. We are being very careful with sun protection, tee shirt on in the pool for 7y old grandson who now has a brown face with bleached white eyebrows! He still has another 2 weeks out here so his classmates won’t recogn him when he goes back.

Hope the wedding celebrations go really well Marydoll. Sunshine would be nice for photos but you’ll all manage fine without it.

Hope Saturday is good to us all whether we have plans or none. x

Good morning from a dreich, gray Aberdeenshire. Yesterday, it peed with rain almost constantly and the mutt was a mud monster when he came back from his walk.
It hasn't been a good week as I had a bad reaction to chemo...very sick etc. and feeling like I had flu, so have spent most of the time asleep.
I managed to get to my annual retinal screening 'tho one hard of hearing friend thought I said RECTAL screening....much hilarity and laughter especially as I was not allowed to drive for a couple of hours because of the eye drops and she couldn't get why I had drops up the bum!!! Even more ribald laughter and leg pulling.
Thank goodness for irreverent chums.
Have a dry day everyone.

No summer here yet either sad I’m almost giving up on having a pleasant dry weekend.

It seemed to spread across the country EllanVannin . As I watched it on the news last night I couldn’t help but wonder if it was a cyber attack ? shock

Morning all from an overcast South Notts. Rain in the night means I don't have to water the flower borders and it's too wet to mow the lawn.
A lazy, self-indulgent day with reading the newspaper and the crossword. The washing machine is going but there'll be no hanging out so it'll be clothes horses , but never mind.
Hope all is well with everyone.

EllanVannin Sat 10-Aug-19 08:11:29

Good Morning All x
The calm before the storm here on the coast ? I don't know, but it's still, damp, heavy cloud and a watery-looking sun now and again.

Yes we had outage at around 5pm yesterday and I was trying all the lights ready to flick a switch in the fuse cupboard until I noticed the 'fridge was also off which is on a different circuit so then I realised that everything was off. It remained off for about half an hour so many neighbours had wondered what had happened as next door was cooking her tea.
No mention of us here though it was all about London and the East ! Ah well. It was very bad whatever the cause.
Electric cars ? What a laugh !

I don't envisage doing very much today apart from cooking and perhaps make a cake. If we get the high winds I'll have to move the Oleanders to shelter or all the lovely white and deep pink flowers will be blown away. Summer ? Oh dear.

Hope there is some respite in between showers/storms for the wedding Marydoll. Who'd have thought it in August ? Such a shame. Enjoy the day best you can anyway, which goes for everyone else today.

Good morning from a windy corner of N Bucks- beginning to feel like autumn!
I have my sister in law staying as she wanted to go to the Paula Rego exhibition at MK gallery near me and yesterday we were going through yet more papers when we came across a very old bundle of letters, the sort where there is no separate envelope but the paper is folded to leave a space for the address and sealed with sealing wax.
The writing was very hard to decipher so we only managed to read a few but what a treat is in store!
One is written by a lady who was one of DH’s forebears and describes the horrific attack on the family house near Wexford by United Irish Loyalists and her escape from the burning property with three small children. The date? 1798!
She wants to take them back with her to try to decipher more but comparing names and dates with our very old copy of the family tree meant the afternoon just flew past.
I had no idea they were in this particular metal box file which has been gathering dust in our loft for the last 19 years since MIL’s house was cleared.
Wishing you all a pleasant day!

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Already blowy in South Yorkshire. DD and her menfolk are flying in from their holiday today so I hope they will not be affected by the high winds. We have food shopping today and then nothing much else if we can’t get out. Welcome Johnm. Have a safe, happy day folks.

Brunette10 Sat 10-Aug-19 07:57:37

Good Morning from a foggy Fife, sun is trying hard to get out. I certainly hope it does so we can get out for a couple of hours with DGS's who are visiting today for a few hours. Welcome Johnm. Hope you have a wonderful time today Marydoll and enjoy your sleep over too. Hope today is good to all.

gillybob Sat 10-Aug-19 07:56:47

Good morning from the NE coast where we have torrential rain (just for a change). This is forecast for the whole weekend so a bit of a wash out for anyone who has made plans for outdoors activities.

Nothing planned for me today except a bit of housework and some food shopping later, might cook something nice for supper .

I heard about the power cuts on the news mick and others who were affected. Seems very odd to me how widespread it became and I was wondering if it could have been a cyber attack on the National Grid !

I do hope the wedding goes well Marydoll and that you have a lovely time catching up with friends and relations.

I sincerely hope the weather improves for you BlueSapphire not much fun being in the middle of nowhere in heavy rain.

I have happy memories of the Norfolk Broads when I was a child Nfk would love to go back again.

Welcome to the Gransnet Good Morning thread Johnm enjoy the time with your 6 year old whirlwind.

Have a good Saturday everyone smile x

Good morning from east London, and what a wind to wake up to. I secured my tomato plants last night and it seems to have worked, as long as the chestnut tree stays standing. Very grateful last night on our choir jaunt to north west London for the multiple travel choices we have in London- tube not working, get a train, train not working, get a tube/cab/relief coach service. Quiet day today, relocating stuff we moved for the builders before we went on hol. Only 2 decorators in today doing DS’s room (he’s currently occupying the living room). Have a good day.

Alygran Sat 10-Aug-19 07:56:17

Good morning. Back in North Yorkshire where it is windy and has been raining. Left Center Parcs yesterday in a thunderstorm. Sunshine and showers all the way home. DD2 took DGS home to very excited parents in Derbyshire. I’m off there tomorrow for the last 3 days of holiday duty!
So today is all mine. Bits and bobs to do but mostly taking it easy.
Hope everyone has a good day. Marydoll enjoy the wedding.

Sprout Sat 10-Aug-19 07:56:12

Good morning from a windy and dull Southampton. Expecting lively 6year old grandson for a few hours this morning,so up and preparing for the day.
Lovely to have joined the new community.

dragonfly46 Sat 10-Aug-19 07:42:07

Good morning from a very windy Leicestershire.

Really chuckled at your antics Marydoll on the other thread. I do hope the wedding goes well.

I hope your weather improves Sapphire I hate being in the middle of nowhere.

I love escape rooms nfk.

May chance a trip to the garden centre today as I have vouchers to spend. Depends on how the storm develops.
