Happy memories of the guest house my parents ran during the sixties on the Isle of Wight. In those days the guests would often become friends, watching telly, going to the pictures etc., together.

The night this was on telly they all sat around singing along and at Christmas one of them signed their card, Boom oo Ya ta ta....Lest we forget! grin

Used to love Stewpot presenting Children’s Family Favourites. I think that’s what it was called. ‘Sparky’ used to scare me a bit when I was young. Can’t remember why now.

A mouse lived in a windmill
In old Amsterdam

Sung by Ronnie Hilton

Nellie the elephant packed her trunk
And said goodbye to the circus
Off she went with a trumpety trump
Trump, trump, trump

Sung By Mandy Miller

And the Galaxy song sung by Monty Python

Whenever life gets you down, Mrs Brown
And things seem hard or tough
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft
And you feel that you've had quite enough

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at 900 miles an hour
It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned,
The sun that is the source of all our power
Etc

A favourite of my friend and I as teenagers:

With her head tucked underneath her arm
She walked the Bloody Tower
With her head tucked underneath her arm
At the midnight hour
Sung by Stanley Holloway

And, of course:
Poisoning pigeons in the park
By Tom Lehrer
