Well done Harry. The royals need slimming down massively so it's a start. I don't know what all the fuss is about, they want to be financially independent and live without media attention. Wish some of the others would follow suit.

But they don’t want to be financially independent do they! They want to keep Frogmore Cottage, renovated at our expense at a cost of millions. They want to continue to do ‘some’ duties for the Queen. They require permanent security which will apparently cost about £600,000 a year. They want to promote their website which is called SussexRoyal and then make money from it. They want want to retain their titles. How is that going independent?

Mapleleaf, have you read the comments about Boris Johnson or Donald Trump? What is being written on here about Prince Harry and Meghan is small fry in comparison.

don't get me started! I think they have shown total lack of respect to the Queen, who has had a tough time recently with Prince Andrew's behaviour and Prince Phillip being so frail.
Really bad timing. If they want to go solo they could have waited a bit to announce it and thought it all through more carefully.

I feel for the Queen if it is true she wasnt informed first, but it was sent out on Instagram, they are modern people but seem to lack respect for the Grandmother and in this case their Monarch.
We live in Sweden and one of the Princesses has just moved to the US with her family, and doesnt have any royal duties but still has her title.The Prince her brother, is staying on here but not having any royal duties any longer, it is supposed to be the cost thats doing this ,as you see Harry and Megan arent unique in doing this.

The only reason they don't like tabloids is because they call them out on their hypocracy. All that tosh they spout about saving the planet while taking flights galore, celeb friends flying in for extravagant baby showers etc and having their own range rovers taken out to Africa for them. They are quite happy for mindless adoring press but the embarrassing stuff? No thanks.

Can somebody help me with enumerating the differences between Prince Harry, and say, Zara Tindall.
Both are the second children of the Queen’s children
Neither is likely to become monarch
One lives in a large house funded by the QueenDuchy of Cornwall, the other in a house near, perhaps funded/ maybe even subsidised by their parents
One seems to be self supporting with advertising and commercial connections through their sport, the other...???
Both appear to have rejected the notion of a title for their child(ren)
One seems to need a huge household/staff and £600k per annum for security, the other...?
One just gets on with things, the other makes a massive song and dance about making broadcasts/telling the press how they want to be left alone

Megan has a healthy baby, visits S.A. and complains no one asked her if she was ok when she had her baby,

No one knows the full and honest story except Harry and Megan. Far too many assumptions and as usual the press are just making up their own stories. I don’t blame Harry and Megan one bit. The press have been very cruel to Megan and Harry remembers very well what they did to his mother. Let them live their lives as they wish and leave them alone

I think Zara had 2 miscarriages.

Prince Harry is the son of the heir apparent to the throne.
Prince Harry is sixth in line to the throne.
Prince Harry is funded by 1) his inheritance from his mother 2) money given to him by his father from his Duchy of Cornwall estate 3) money given to him by the Queen out of the Sovereign Grant, plus security expenses, renovation expenses for Frogmore Cottage)
Harry has had a title since birth and accepted a further title upon his marriage.

Zara is not a daughter of the next monarch.
Zara is 18th in line to the throne.
Zara works for her living through advertising, sponsorship, and advising (all to do with her horse riding.)
Zara has no title.

I don't think it's so much what they have said they will do but the way they did it. ?There were discussions about their role on going, so why couldn't they wait until all that was sorted. It seems underhand to announce it without telling close family members beforehand and they're not just a family but a working group. I think they should go , live in Canada , cut ties to the Royal family, forego the allowances . If they're not up to the job then let those who are get on with it.
