Harry & Meghan stepping back from RF

The problem is, he is his mother's son! So he wont want to slip away and live a quiet life forgotten by the public.

They want us to adore them and listen when they think they have something profound to say, but then they switch to hating us if we do take an interest. The faux public cries for privacy: thats not how you go about obtaining privacy, if thats what you really want.

It STINKS of Diana

Thank goodness Harry is not the older son. The grace of William and Kate and their lovely family is a blessing, but I feel sorry for William in the future because whereas when Charles becomes King he will have Anne and Edward (not Andrew!) to help carry the burden, and indeed has done whilst waiting to be King, William will have no one.

I think Harry and Meghan have made a selfish and self-centred decision, and have handled it appallingly and disrespectfully. Thank goodness the Queen is a resilient and strong person but at her age and with all that she is coping with at the moment, they could not have picked more thoughtless timing. Would it have hurt them to wait another 6 months until perhaps Philip was better?

Look at the extraordinary outpourings of grief when she died.

My impression is that most people were prepared to give Meghan a chance but it quite quickly became apparent that this was a manipulative woman used to getting her own way, and look at how callously she has cut her father out of her life.

I don’t entirely blame her for this latest development though.
Harry must be in agreement, but the announcement was very badly handled.

There was plenty of nastiness about Diana from monarchists when she decided to tell all and give interviews about her eating disorders and marriage to Charles. There has been plenty of bitchiness on on here. I was sad for her and what she had to put up with from the emotionally cold "firm". and who can remember 12 year old Harry walking behind his mother's coffin alone without anyone holding his hand or putting an arm round his shoulders.

No wonder the poor lad has emotional issues.

In my opinion both of them stepping back from Royal duties would be for the best.
Neither of them have appeared very happy when mingling with the other Royals and there is one particular photo on the balcony when Harry looks positively surly.
In my opinion Megan has spoiled the Harry we loved and changed him into someone we don’t recognise.

I do realise that Meghan is getting a lot of criticism on here, some of it quite spiteful.
To be fair to all, she has asked for it.
I remember posting in the early days on this forum that she looked like the cat that has got the cream, she has never altered, we never see her without a triumphant smile on her face, look at me, look what I have, look what I have achieved.

I think it was completely out of order to announce this to the world without discussing beforehand with William, Charles and the Queen. Can you imagine in an ordinary family if someone wants to cut off their mother they announce it on Twitter/Facebook and let her find out that way.

Well quite, but the non working minor royal path is too well trodden for them to quietly opt for that! That wouldnt be special enough for them!

I liked Diana. I don’t like Meghan. I’m not particularly Royalist, but have found the series “ The Crown” very moving. None of us would want their lives if we’re honest. I know God allows these people to be in this position. In fact, even to the point the Church believes it is a ‘calling’. However, I don’t like supporting those ‘ hangers on’ as my mum used to call them. I think more of them should step down, and put taxes to much better use.

There is awful footage of them being shown around an art gallery, Harry nodfing and smiling at least, Meghan is ignoring their poor guide and looking around her like a bored stroppy school kid.

They are doing what is right for them and their family and good luck to them. Harry did not ask to be born into the RF - he did not choose to be brought up by this emotionally constipated crew. Or to see his own mother crucified by the media.

So he wants to distance himself from all that rubbish and try and bring his family up in his way and free from these emotional retards.

As to the money - he did not choose to be in a family that is awash in money; nor did he choose to be a "celebrity" and need protection. This is what being a part of the RF brings with it, and that is generated outside of them.

All this stuff about them wanting the limelight is nonsense. This is the first I have heard anything about them for months. But then I do not read trashy papers.

If we want to ditch the RF so none of them get a bean from public coffers, then so be it; but on the whole the public have shown that they want a RF, so folk like Harry will continue to be scrutinised by the media and funded by the state - again, this is not their choice, it is simply what he has been born into.

The fact that William and Kate toe the line is fine - their choice. The fact that Harry and Meghan want something different is also fine - their choice. They are free to make choices, just as we all are. Being a royal does not mean they have to forfeit that right.

Let's just give them a break and concentrate on the good things they do charity-wise. They use their celebrity for good things.

I really do not blame them for wanting a bit of normality now that they have a family. Good on them. Harry is trying to protect his little family and has that as his priority; as we all do.

Frogmore doesn't belong to them so, unless they pay the going rate for this refurbished 'cottage' I see no reason why they should keep it on as a pied-a-terre for visits over here.
Perhaps someone else can be persuaded to rent it and we can recoup some of the money!

'Usual round of hysterical nonsense in the press this morning; they may be 'forced' to pay rent for Frogmore - don't the press love the word 'forced'? It's all specualtion and hot air at the moment , but if they are choosing to lead different lives to the conventional, good for them. I imagine Harry has a decent fortune of his own - Diana left her sons millions apparently - and he is so unlikely to become King that this seems a wise move, rather than stand about handshaking and smiling for the rest of their lives.

I think people on this forum can be very judgemental and harsh. We simply only know what we are told and who can tell if that is correct?
