Yes indeed Merlot, thank you for that link. I don’t know how she has the brass nerve to behave like this when Harry is in the UK trying with the royal family to sort out the mess she has caused. Words fail me!

I feel sorry for Prince Harry
(1001 Posts)After looking at all the news reports etc I have come to the conclusion that Harry is really stuck in the middle of his wife and the RF. Meghan married Harry very quickly, which can cause difficulties in ‘normal’ families, but with the emotionally constipated RF it was a disaster waiting to happen. If someone like Diana, who had experience of royalty couldn’t cope with the way of life or the hold the courtiers have over proceedings, how could a feisty American. Catherine has only managed it because she and William took a very long time to get her settled into the RF.
Moving to a new country, getting married, having a baby and trying to fit into the RF is a heavy burden, and then being bullied completely by the press is enough to make anyone crack. The daily mail is still dredging up anyone they can to slate Meghan and Harry.
Harry is trying to protect his wife, and according to recent reports, has tried to initiate changes but has been rebuffed at every stage. I would think that seeing the photos on the Queen’s desk didn’t show him or Meghan or their son was hurtful and an indication that they no longer counted. The further photos of the 4 reigning/next in line would surely have pushed home that point.
Harry has slumped down the line of succession, the same thing that happened to Andrew, Anne and Edward. But they had each other to share this change of status and that surely made matters easier.
I think Harry feels very alone and impotent and is trying very hard to change things for his wife, but has had to make a huge fuss to get anyone to listen. If you add in his own personal problems then I am very surprised that he is still trying to go forward instead of just giving up. Perhaps now the RF will abandon their stiff upper lip and treat Harry better than they did Diana.
Sorry for long waffle.
trisher I have my grandmothers wedding band, my great aunts engagement ring, my g great aunt’s china collection, my g aunts crucifix, my mothers eternity ring, it’s what families do. My wedding band will be given to my younger granddaughter, it’s what families do.
It’s definitely true and there’s pics of her wearing it. It’s 18ct AND diamond whale tail. The RF aren’t allowed to accept freebies. It’s forbidden as it’s seen to be promoting certain brands. All their clothes are paid for.
They receive gifts from each other and from members of the public but most is given to charity. They receive gifts from other countries and heads of state but they are not allowed to accept freebies from designers, clothes or jewellery or furniture, cars etc.
The fact that she’s accepted this necklace and been pictured wearing it has shown she has total disregard for the RF and the strict rules they have to adhere to.
Yes, that should have been made plain but perhaps she didn't think a gift would be forthcoming.
Correct SirChenin. But there’s no way that Meghan is going to not accept gifts. This is what she wanted all along, fame and money.
Trisher You are really confused here. The RF are not celebs. They aren’t allowed to accept and thereby promote goods given to them.
And also correct Tickingbird. Our royal family is being brought into disrepute by this woman.
Of course maddyone - we all know that. In Ms eyes though, she’s empowering the gift givers
It does matter trisher matters very much. A gift from a designer v a gift from a family member.
My grandchildren will be given jewellery which was their dead mothers, I find it so offensive and distressing that this is
seen as greed.
Of course accepting gifts or inheriting from family members is not greed.
tickingbird read about Kate and the results of what she wears or has been given. In my opinion it is all greed but if someone can explain to me exactly why anyone needs so much money, so many homes and so many possessions as all the RF have I will try to appreciate it. Until then I remain committed to the idea that greed is wanting more than you actually need and all the RF qualify.
They have stated they want to be financially independent. For me, that would mean working hard and earning my own living.
Because he is Royal, they are in demand and it is very different for them. They will have people queuing up to offer them deals. That gift of a necklace is just the start and a drop in the ocean I'm sure.
They have been allowed to stay for free in the fantastic mansion on Vancouver Island. Not sure if that is going to be their permanent base for several years until Trump goes, or if they will move closer to Toronto.
Obviously they are going to accept any freebies offered from now on, hence the cultivating of all the wealthy, influential and powerful "friends. "
I am glad they have gone now, and hope we can get on with life post M and H. I don't think "part time" Royals would work. They need to go and make their own life, and pay for it. I just hope that being "financially independent" actually means they pay for their own security and staff, and do not sponge off Charles and the Duchy of Cornwall anymore, as that would be so hypocritical. They have a few million between them, so they can afford it.
The gift is no doubt to promote the designer's profile. If it had been presented to Meghan at a fashion event I wouldn't have found it questionable but at the offices of a women's refuge??
Greed is wanting more than you actually need ? Millions of greedy people in this country in your opinion trisher. I am
one. I don’t need a TV set, I want a TV set, I don’t need an iPad and a laptop, I want them.
So inheriting from a family member is "greed"? Really trisher? So when I inherited some of my mother's jewellery, you're saying that's greed? When I leave my jewellery to my granddaughters, that's greed? I've read some rubbish in my time, but that's right up there at the top. Utter bulls**t.
It is just human nature.
Without wanting more than we need no-one would ever strive, try to give their children a better future, they would just tell them not to bother to get an education or to work hard as you don't need more than what just suffices.
Meghan has been a recipient of quite a bit of Diana’s jewellery. I wonder what she’ll do with it. Sell it to the highest bidder?
Trisher this thread is about Harry and Meghan, not greed.
Of course firms make money when a member of the RF wears or uses one of their products but the big difference is those items have been bought and paid for. They have to wear something. Meghan didn’t buy this necklace.
Have you got more than two sets of clothes trisher
Because you only need one set on and one being washed. Perhaps three if it's difficult to dry them.
One pair of summer sandals and one pair of sturdy shoes is enough.
Anything more is want therefore greed.
Absolutely Callistemon, we always encouraged our children to do their best, work hard etc. I’m sure that all the grans on here will have done the same. We wanted them to achieve well and hopefully have a better life than we had, not that we’ve had a bad life at all, but like many others, we did struggle in the early years.
Opal I haven't said inheriting anything is greed. But the dictionary definition is a very strong wish to continuously get more of something, especially food or money:
And perhaps we are all guilty of it. I certainly am as far as chocolate goes. By the way I didn't bring greed into this simply pointed out that it isn't confined to MM.
Also trisher all these homes you speak of belong to the state. You don’t seriously believe that all these castles and estates are private property surely?
Actually they are the property of The Crown Estates so belong to the monarch tickingbird. They cannot be sold but can be used at the monarch's discretion. If Frogmore Cottage should be given to the homeless let's give them Anmer Hall as well, After all Charles has Highgrove he won't need them.
They don’t belong to any individual. Your arguments don’t stack up. You’re a republican obviously. This thread isn’t about that. Why don’t you start another thread along the lines of ‘Should we abolish the monarch?’
