.........to be broadcasting the announcements about coronavirus measures.

We know him as someone with scant regard for the truth and his manner of delivery is bumbling. He lacks gravitas. I wonder if some of the idiots who have ignored all the rules just dismiss what he is saying because it is him saying it. There are strong feelings about him.

Might be better if the CMO were to deliver these rules.

Those of you with the political arguments, GIVE IT UP! We are way, way beyond that. BJ is our PM. The government we have are the ones in charge.

This is the biggest crisis of any of our lifetimes. No party politics should even enter your heads. IF they are, you need to think yourself lucky you have nothing else to worry about.

Urmstongran Tue 24-Mar-20 17:52:23

? back at you lemongrove!

Oopsminty Tue 24-Mar-20 18:14:20

He's doing fine

Take a break from pointless political garbage

Greymar Tue 24-Mar-20 18:46:21

You like that silly little picture don't you Opal?

Nobody is bothered about him. We are concerned with the here and now. A friedn has just told me a PRU in a very deprived area had 27 children attending. Do you think they were all up to date with handwashing and tissues?

Washerwoman Tue 24-Mar-20 18:55:38

A young relative who despises Boris posted on FB a picture of Churchill .Then a comment that Boris is loving his moment of war time spirit.Good job she lives at a distance and we don't speak very often.I don't think for one moment he's loving this awful situation. And frankly I'm sick of politicised and divisive comments at this time.

GagaJo Tue 24-Mar-20 19:45:24

It’s not the anti BJ voters that are making this political. We could have a communist chip at the helm as long as they do a good job, for all I care.

Keep our NHS workers safe.
Be firm and send the police/army in.
Ramp up the number of NHS staff.
Sort out access to essential supplies for key workers.

GagaJo Tue 24-Mar-20 19:45:47

Not chip! Chimp

Greymar Tue 24-Mar-20 19:53:37

What exactly is in any shape or form in the link between BJ and Churchill?

Daisymae Tue 24-Mar-20 20:03:26

I believe that Churchill is Johnson's hero. I think it's a tragedy that he is PM in today's circumstances.

Smileless2012 Tue 24-Mar-20 20:12:28

I wonder if some of the idiots who have ignored all the rules just dismiss what he is saying because it is him saying it

No, I don't think so. They're either idiots or just selfish thinking only of themselves and wouldn't listen regardless of whose saying it.

Now people are being urged not to stock pile medications from pharmacists. Those of us who wouldn't do so or stockpile groceries don't need urging, and those what will, will do so regardless.

merlotgran Tue 24-Mar-20 20:20:00

Exactly, smileless, There was a comment in one of the newspapers today that it will serve them right if, when they get their massive credit card bills, they won't be able to pay them because they've lost their jobs.

Greymar Tue 24-Mar-20 20:29:37

My hero is Maya Angelou, doesn't make me Maya.

Chewbacca Tue 24-Mar-20 21:17:50

Brilliantly put Smileless, you're right there. Police in our town moved a group of people who were sat on the grass, drinking beer from cans, in the cenotaph gardens today. Judging from the state of them, I doubt very much if they even know who our prime minister is!

Calendargirl Tue 24-Mar-20 21:31:04

now people are being urged not to stockpile medications from pharmacies

Stickpile what exactly? Surely for repeat prescriptions it should be what you normally have, i.e. one month, two month, whatever, if people demand more, sorry, you can’t have extra as it will leave us short. If it’s other meds, i.e. paracetamol, cough medicine, limit it to one each.
The queue at our local GP pharmacy has been a two hour plus wait all this week, tiny premises so only one in at a time, fair enough, and only two or three staff, due to staff shortages.

For merlotgran - and anyone else who doesn't understand the voting system:

' Turnout in this election was 67.3 percent, meaning that around 32 million Brits, or under of half the entire population, voted. Of those 32 million voters, 43.6 percent or nearly 14 million voted for Boris Johnson.'

trisher Wed 25-Mar-20 10:25:07

The continuing situation about construction workers shows how inadequate this government is and what its priorities are. The economy and profits must be protected. So in London the tube remains packed and Sadiq Khan's efforts to close down the city are undermined, putting NHS workers and essential staff at risk. And some say Boris is wonderful!!!

henetha Wed 25-Mar-20 11:01:25

Whether or not Boris is wonderful doesn't come into it.
The fact is he won the election by a good majority and is our leader. Now is the time to forget party politics and try to pull together, stand by each other. How about a bit of loyalty, a bit less of whinge whinge whinge. How about using common sense and trying your best instead of endless grumbling.
He isn't perfect, but what leader is? And anyway, he's doing his best under difficult circumstances. And he's doing ok in my opinion.

trisher Wed 25-Mar-20 11:15:37

henetha if he had followed the advice of the experts and shut down all except safety construction work perhps I would feel differently. As it is he hasn't and isn't doing so. He is effectively saying that making money is more valuable than workers' lives and quite frankly I can't agree with that. You obviously feel it is OK can you explain why?

henetha Wed 25-Mar-20 11:20:53

Because I think you are wrong. He is not effectively saying that at all. He is guided by experts, as are all leaders, and has done what he thinks is right so far. How would you like to be leader at this dreadful time.? I wonder if you would get everything right? I certainly would not. It's so easy to criticise when it's not us making the decisions.

trisher Wed 25-Mar-20 11:23:31

The experts say close down. Scotland has done it. It's Boris's responsibility. The bodies are at his door.

GrannyLaine Wed 25-Mar-20 11:58:02

henetha in any crisis situation there are those who do the right thing and crack on, and there are those who try to make themselves look better by their "know better" attitude which is all very well when they have absolutely no accountability for the overall situation or the outcome.

trisher Wed 25-Mar-20 12:26:11

There are also those who just accept and blindly follow and then complain when things are worse than expected. There is nothing wrong with criticising especially when other countries and leaders have handled things better. This is about protecting the NHS, slowing the transmission rate and dealing with the virus rather than protecting the economy and profit and that is why criticism is valid. Sadiq Khan has effectively done his best to protect London but has been undermined by this government from the very beginning.

GagaJo Wed 25-Mar-20 12:29:37

I don't always agree with you trisher, but in this case, I do. 100%

Labaik Wed 25-Mar-20 12:58:16

And Johnson wouldn't even allow Sadiq Khan to attend the first COBRA meeting [you know, the emergency one that had to wait because he wanted to announce his baby/engagement that weekend...].

lemongrove Wed 25-Mar-20 13:05:08

You are wrong trisher and Khan is too!
By cutting trains on the tube he has forced workers to cram together, what a fool the man is.
We need more trains so people can spread out on them, so hope the government puts this right.
