.........to be broadcasting the announcements about coronavirus measures.

We know him as someone with scant regard for the truth and his manner of delivery is bumbling. He lacks gravitas. I wonder if some of the idiots who have ignored all the rules just dismiss what he is saying because it is him saying it. There are strong feelings about him.

Might be better if the CMO were to deliver these rules.

more trains? er no, I don't think so

Parsley3 Wed 25-Mar-20 13:53:07

Khan has said that there are so many rail staff off sick or self isolating that it is not possible to run a full service.

Boris has now refused an EU offer of help and equipment. Really! Brexit is more important than lives? www.linkedin.com/pulse/covid-19-uk-turns-down-eu-help-supply-medical-equipment-jon-danzig/?fbclid=IwAR38O3C72G0uifQzHrWDdDYumk5YWbfzy2_WRLtvqJZ8CZgpRDM173Ro5k4

Could this be fake news? I cannot believe he would do this. It cannot be true.

trisher Thu 26-Mar-20 10:43:33

It's true! In the Independent as well www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/coronavirus-boris-johnson-medical-equipment-eu-brexit-a9424631.html
Never underesimate the duplicity of Boris.

Luckygirl Thu 26-Mar-20 10:45:11

Yes - I have just looked it up and found it in the Independent too.

Change.org might be a platform for people to challenge this.

Summerlove Thu 26-Mar-20 11:36:22

I’m curious how people will defend this

Labaik Thu 26-Mar-20 11:48:31

It was refused ages ago. I mentioned it over a week ago but was shot down for saying it....

Ngaio1 Thu 26-Mar-20 11:51:19

I have never been a Boris fan but think that he is doing a very good as PM whilst this crisis is happening, I thought poor Theresa May had a Baptism of Fire when she became PM but that is as nothing compared to the current crisis.!

Let us stand firmly behind Boris when he is in the centre of a dreadful crisis. Could anyone have been better?

Ngaio1 Thu 26-Mar-20 11:51:55

Apologies for over use of the word crisis!

Summerlove Thu 26-Mar-20 11:53:39

Should people stand behind a Prime Minister who is making choices that don’t appear to benefit the public?

trisher Thu 26-Mar-20 12:09:43

Apparently because he is PM we should unquestionably allow him to screw things up. Really!!?? Is it OK to refuse help? Is it OK to keep construction sites open?

endlessstrife Thu 26-Mar-20 12:56:21

On the surface, it does sound strange he would refuse help, particularly as it would do so much damage for morale and his government. However, he has commissioned Dyson to produce 10,000 ventilators, and is hopefully on the case with other equipment. I would find it hard to accept something that the offerer may need themselves. We have to trust him, we have no choice.

endlessstrife Thu 26-Mar-20 13:02:13

As an afterthought, we’ve been listening to all BBC news, on the radio, and tv, for the last month, and haven’t heard this at all.

trisher Thu 26-Mar-20 13:19:58

Isn't that funny endlessstrife you might almost think we had some sort of right wing bias in the media which kept us from knowing nasty things about Tories but that's just silly isn't it???

Whitewavemark2 Thu 26-Mar-20 13:49:50

?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 26-Mar-20 14:05:33

Johnson is refusing to make use of the EU joint procurement agreement here in the U.K. despite urgent and rising need absolutely lays bare his plan to put ideology above lives.

We have a narcissist who holds high office to the U.K. ‘s detriment.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 26-Mar-20 14:10:56

Brexit do or die seems very apt in describing Johnson’s actions.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 26-Mar-20 14:12:35

Another real and potentially disruptive issue are the amount of farmers calling for help with the harvesting of fruit and veg.

Brexit do or die policy will see it rotting in the fields.

Hetty58 Thu 26-Mar-20 14:19:22

Let's face it, Boris is not a good speaker, looks like a clown and seems out of his depth.

I actually feel rather sorry for him. He seems to be doing his best - but his speeches, along with the government's half measures just don't inspire confidence!

Barmeyoldbat Thu 26-Mar-20 14:34:35

Well bringing in the harvest could be done, as it used to be done, by students who are not at college or uni. Also why are we still allowing flights into the country of people from all around the globe. If that had been stopped weeks ago we might well have saved a few deaths.

Jane10 Thu 26-Mar-20 14:42:59

Boris isn't a natural public speaker. That's all. He's a politician not an entertainment professional. He's also only one person and he defers constantly to national experts. There is a whole cabinet and working groups behind the scenes I think he comes over as a quite straightforward front man for a whole lot of people working together in our interest.

Greymar Thu 26-Mar-20 14:46:22

I have mentioned this before, the front man/woman in my opinion needs to be articulate, concise, empathic and tough.

If BJ is not projecting the right image, let him be of use elsewhere with his phenomenal intellect.

I saw Matt Hancock this morning on TV, sounded fine to my ears.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 26-Mar-20 14:48:54

Johnson's policies are what alarms me. His burbleburblewafflewaffle I simply find ridiculous and irritating.

May7 Thu 26-Mar-20 14:51:09

I agree with you Greymar
