We all have different views and personally I would much prefer Corbyn to be in charge. However we have Johnson whether we like it or not. People say he is doing his best but quite frankly his best just is not good enough. He acted too late, we do not have enough equipment although they knew about this in January , and he has changed the message several times. I dislike his presentation style but that is purely personal and the audience for his broadcast is actually quite low so not really having an impact.
They need to find a better way to get the distancing message across via social media and postal leaflets.
Anyone who has seriously looked at the financial support or tried to use it would find that it is all smoke and mirrors and is almost impossible to access.
In my view he has a long way to go before we can say he has been a success.

Perhaps you'd prefer Philip Schofield or maybe Ant and Dec to tell the nation what's going on?! I think it's pathetic to fixate on Boris's communication style and conflate it with the hard work going on behind the scenes. FFS he isn't single handedly making every decision. ?

His communication skills are in my opinion poor. I was quite suprised whem I heard him speak as I was willing him to be something different. I can think of many people who are so much better at speaking.

However, I would assume you wouldn’t believe them either, as you shouldn’t believe any media in that case. This is a crisis of gigantic proportion. When will some people realise that a lot of us who dislike Johnson [not just because of his personality but because of his lack of professionalism] are not 'left wingers']. However, the strange thing is that a lot of the policies now being enforced are socialist ones.

They are not doing their best. Every decision they've made is too little and too late. They've had 3 months to prepare the country for this and nurses and doctors are having to protect themselves wearing bin bags. A phlebotomist friend of mine had to wear the same face mask for a whole day; her husband [a NHS motor bike delivery driver] is high risk. I will refuse to say this government are doing a grand job when things like that are happening.

endlessstrife sorry if you felt it was personal it was a general comment about the media who have torn other people to bits for mistakes, but don't mention a major decision.
I don't see why I have to say who should be leading but it would be nice to see some sort of agreement and unison instead of Johnson introducing policies which other people have been advocating several days after they were first suggested. Leaders aren't supposed to play catch up.

I am finding Boris Johnson's manner when delivering extremely serious messages to the nation lacking in gravitas, which is dangerous and disappointing.

Not everyone who wishes we had a more statesmanlike PM is an "aggrieved left-winger". I am worried for our country, and personally concerned about the safety of my brother who has come out of retirement to work as a doctor again, despite his partmer being immuno-compromised. He is taking risks to save others.

I don't want to listen to BJ speaking about "squashing the sombrero" when describing the need to flatten the curve of increase of this deadly virus. I would like our PM to speak like an intelligent adult at this crucial time.

I am not left winger, I am not a hater as so many critics are called, I just don't trust Johnson. I will criticise the lack of reliable figures from this government. Just take ventilators.......On Monday 22nd March Matt Hancock said on BBC radio "We've made serious progress on that, there's now over 12,000 that we've managed to get. We started with 5,000 so we've been buying ventilators and we've also been engaged with companies who are going to turn their production over to ventilators" Business minister Nadhim Zahawi conceded there are now 8000 ventilators available to the NHS despite Matt Hancock's earlier claim of 12,000. What happened? Did we lose or sell the other 4,000 or do they not exist at this point? On 11th March Johnson claimed testing was ramping up to 10,000 then 25,000 then 250,000 tests per day. Despite this promise the maximum number of tests was 8400 on Thursday 19th March. Since then the daily average figure has been 4573, as of the 23rd March. Falls massively short of the target again. Is this government innumerate? Or are they deliberately misleading?

Janipat, I think deliberately misleading is probable. It must be so lovely to have faith that they are hard at work, behind the scenes, organising and preparing everything.

I tend to think it's desperate damage limitation. We just don't have the resources (and can't increase them fast enough) to deal with the looming disaster. I blame everyone who voted for the destruction of our safety net, the running down of services, the shrinking of our police force - for what? Oh, yes, to pay a little less tax!
