Your son is amazing soop.
Pleased your DH is improving syn.
Just heard a young friend, a physio, has Covid-19.
My Sainsbury delivery does not include eggs or baked beans! I suppose eggs are a cheap staple.
I was worried yesterday as my DH had a telephone appointment with his consultant but all was well. I didn’t want him having to go to the hospital again.
We still have DD’s dog which is our pleasure but my DD is missing him so much. It is good for DH as he takes him out every day. I am confined to barracks.
I made some cheese scones which I left on the side for elevenses!

Soop's welcoming kitchen for the sharing of...
(1001 Posts)Hello my lovelies. At last I can open up and prepare for a wee buffet to celebrate our new refuge.
Welcome!
Can I have my elevenses early, please dragonfly as I’ve been awake since silly o’clock. It will be time for lunch in an hour
. I do love a cheese scone, sadly mine always have the look of a well cooked digestive biscuit. Hope your friend will recover quickly.
Many congratulations to your son soop.
I’m off to potter in the garden. Sun is out now, I’m so grateful to have outside space
Be careful out there everyone.
The current situation (please forgive if this is upsetting) had me thinking about the war artists such as Paul Nash and the later Peter Howson. I wondered how art would reflect the time we are living through at the moment. The visualitions Nash et al presented to the world were often uncomfortable and always thought provoking. Of all the genres I studied, it is these and other such artists that have had a lasting effect on me. For anyone in Nottingham Peter Howsons ^Bosnian Harvest^ is a difficult but profoundly moving piece of art in the gallery there.
I shall now spend some time with my art history books and reflect.
Have just been talking to my DD on messenger. They started weaning Henry last week and he is having allergic reactions to everything. He has had an emergency referral to a paediatric dietician, all Drs appointments by email and phone.Overnight he had even become intolerant to breast milk.Am typing this through tears.
I will come back later and read everybody’s posts.
So sorry Susan and what a huge worry for you all.
I hope the medics can find an answer quickly.
He looked such a Bonny baby in the photograph you posted last week.
Hello the kitchen. Day two of lockdown. The tunnel digging is not going well; I bent my tablespoon when we ran up against an underground drain, so will have to work our way around it somehow! We did surface at one point (I was never very good at map reading) but were spotted by the searchlight in the tower at the end of the road.......
Izabella, I am greatly taken by the work of war artists, too, and we had an outstanding exhibition here last year of works by, among others, Christopher Nevinson, Paul Nash, Eric Ravilious, Edward Ardizone and Dame Laura Knight. I also greatly admire modern artists who work in theatres of conflict; Linda Kitson’s work during the Falklands conflict and Matthew Cook’s luminous watercolour sketches from his time in Afghanistan, stand out for me.
Susan I hope they manage to get young Henry back on an even keel very soon - I can well imagine how upsetting that must be for all of you.?
Corner I don’t have a very good record with scones either but I do love a good cheese scone - John Lewis do excellent ones in their cafeteria. Going to be a long time before I get one of those again I expect!
We had a gardening day yesterday, and I was delighted to find a little plant that GS bought me last year, and which I thought was dead and gone, has reappeared healthy and much increased in size. I’ve no idea what it’s called but I think it’s a little rockery geranium. In fact, several “lost” things have come to light but now they all seem to be in the wrong place. Plants have minds of their own, it seems, about where they want to be (pretty much like people?). Everything is so dry now. It doesn’t seem to be five minutes since DH was having to keep emptying the water butts to stop the water backing up into the gutter!
Well, I will look in later when I have had my fill of trying to find interesting things to do! TOYA.
Thank you Ann,he was such a happy, healthy boy this time last week. The difference in him is heartbreaking. The dr thinks the referral should result in a telephone consultation quite quickly so hoping that is the case.
Thank you greyduster.
Susan56 sending you a virtual hug (((-))), one of our sons had allergies and our old school GP recommended goats milk and it worked a treat!
GrannyGravy thank you. Will message my daughter now.x
I am so sorry to hear your news Susan56 A very stressful time for all the family. All these things happening in the world when we cannot hug and console our nearest and dearest.
Virtual hugs from the Shire.
Susan I have pm'd you.
Susan I hope they get little Henry sorted out soon.
I have pottered around and not sure what I have achieved? Mr.GG has replaced the handle on our tumble drier which ^just came off in DDs hand^
, swift delivery from Bosch.
I am now going to compile a list for an online order to our local Garden Centre which is doing home deliveries, it has lifted my spirits to know that we can grow our veggies/salads as usual and that I can plant out my numerous pots.
Our garden borders are all shrubs/trees which need little attention, I enjoy changing the colour scheme in the pots each year, no decision has been made yet.
Good morning kitchen x
Susan I hope there's better news about Henry.
Izabella, a glorious post as always.
Have I missed any posts from panache in the last day or so?
soop, gorgeous picture! You are quite a gal! Xxx
For the first time since we married in '76 I have no fresh tomatoes. DH lives on them. I'm sure I bought two packs of Bio Toms yesterday at Carrefour. They're not in the boot of the car. Who knows where they might be. Only went shopping yesterday for the first time in ages so won't be going outside for another seven days. However, only commenting on my ineptitude. Not complaining because I know the struggle for shopping dear kitchen friends are having to struggle with. Have two tins of toms so will make DH a tomato pasta dish and tomato and herb soup during the week to keep his tomato desire satisfied!!?????
Today I will be making another blackberry and apple pie from last year's freezer goods. It will slice up nicely, plenty for all of you lovely kitcheners.
Stay safe, sending love and TOYA xxxx
CherryCezz ???
GrannyGravy, posts have crossed...any chance you could spirit some tomato plants seeds my way??xxxx
Maw...where are you?
Well now...how long do you lot think I shall need to catch up since yesterday? Answer...a very long time.
Before I settle down to read all your posts, I would like to send my very best wishes to Susan's wee grandson, Henry. Please update us.
Hurrah. Hurray oh frabjous day! I’ve managed to get a shopping slot at Ocado for the 14th April.
Do you think it might be OTT to put out bunting and flags and blow bugles when he arrives?
Synonymous You are doing the right thing by referring your concerns for your elderly friend's welfare. Those so-called caring visitors are beyond stupid.
Dear GrannyGravy My son, Matt, is climbing Ben Nevis (via his staircase) as I write this . 1345m - up and down the staircase 538 times - 7,532 steps. It must have been another of his team that you saw on BBC Breakfast News. I know of one who was intending climbing Everest. I trust that my son has his inhaler in his pocket. I am forever nagging him to carry it everywhere. I shall know the result of his attempt later today.
Galen Tyke!
I am breaking for a wee while. I shall be back a little later. It appears that I have much catching up to do.
soop - your son is indefatigable. Well done him.
Susan such a worry about little Henry and I do hope there is a resolution soon.
I felt quite motivated yesterday and after my government allowed walk did some batch cooking but today I am struggling to get going at all. There's lots I could be doing but I don't feel in the mood and I can't decide whether to give myself a shake or just go with the flow.
I'm looking forward to the promised improvement in the weather as a bit of sunshine does lift the spirits.
A mum's brag-moment. Ta dah! My son, Matt Warren, has completed the long climb up and down his staircase and has reached the summit of Ben Nevis . He's apparently "cream crackered". The latest sum raised for Medecins San Frontieres is £832.

Well done soops son, apologise for my earlier mistake soop my brain seems to be functioning well below par at the moment perma fog
