Q.E.D
Anxiety over gc going on days out
Have you stopped buying papers?
Retiring and living frugally in money from downsizing after years of stress
Hello all, extra good wishes to you all.
Well, the newspaper (only once a week) needed to be collected from the village shop, so Mr P asked what else we needed. There were things that he had been unable to get from his supermarket trip, so I jotted them down, in clear, large print, giving additional verbal instructions suggestions.
(The village shop now has a "non browsing" policy, and have set up a counter in the doorway. Shoppers are encouraged to arrive with a written list, which they give to the staff member.)
His first attempt was aborted, he was
to see the queue stretching 200 metres back down to the village square!
He came home, but said he would go back in an hour or so.
So, we had a light lunch (cheese on toast) and off he went.
I was planning to make creamed cabbage to go with the chicken hot pot for Sunday, so my list included a small green cabbage, and some cream.
I had actually said to himself "Don't get a white cabbage, it won't work, and if they don't have green cabbage, we won't need the cream, and we can just use the extra broccoli that you bought that we didn't need yesterday. He looked at me and nodded, as if to say "Roger! Willco!" and off he went.
The bit regarding "If no lettuce, get mushrooms, we will have to have steak, chips & mushrooms instead of our usual steak, salad & jp's" (Not as healthy, but needs must
) seemed to have been taken on board.
However I'm now the less than proud owner of a very large white cabbage, and a large pot of cream
.
I will list the white cabbage on the village FB page, there must be someone with a large family who can use it! (Can be left in a bag on our doorstep for collection) and I suppose I could make creamed broccoli!
Before anyone castigates me (big word for a Saturday) I really do appreciate the fact that Mr P does get the shopping, this post is meant to be a bit of lighthearted stuff!

Q.E.D
GrannyLaine I am an innocent! Whatever can you mean? I'm supposed to be guilty of misandry?
Just not your humour Grandad - which is why this forum really isn’t for you, as you have no idea or insight into the lives of women from their perspective. You’re not going to change the behaviour of the women on here, regardless of how many times you cry ‘misandry’. All you seem to do is derail threads and come across as rather controlling. Are you like this in other areas of your life, I wonder.
In regard to your post @19:04 today, you were stating on a different thread a few days ago that you felt many men had little respect for women in terms of treating them in equality.
Do you believe that any man reading this thread and holding the above views is likely to change such a perception?
Do you believe I actually care if a man with misogynistic views who doesn’t understand the meaning of equality from a woman’s perspective and who’s on the wrong forum is likely to change his perception?
Hint: If you do then you’d be wrong.
SirChenjin it is yourself who constantly in this thread and others has raised the spectrum of misandry.
I will leave it too other to draw what they wish on that.

Grandad1943 You clearly missed the rare treat of the thread when phoenix had Campylobacter
And an awful lot of other amusing threads too
You do that - I’m sure we’ll be just fine.
SirChenjin and now you raise the spectrum of misogyny.
I wonder what else will be forthcoming.
I did type a response, then took the advice given on another thread and deleted it before posting!
It was quite cathartic! ?
Creamed cabbage, lightheartedness amongst women and stories of husbands who get the shopping wrong hopefully.
Can anyone tell me if Grandad1943 has ever actually started a thread, or does he just specialise in derailing/spoiling "joining in" on threads and singing his usual song?
MamaCaz, perhaps the opening poster or others can then tell us of their hilarious stories of their own cock ups and mishaps while shopping in this thread.
Oh dear - yet again a " controlling" male has taken over a much needed lighthearted thread - I suggest, as others have done, that we just ignore his comments and continue in this humourus (spelling wrong but not sure what's right) vein which is much needed by some of us, particularly me!!! Love my OH to bits but these are difficult times and a little light relief is needed - I've had enough lectures from ACs to last me a lifetime (however long that is)
so Grandad 1943 find another thread to have a go at !! Please
Not on this thread Grandad - start your own and ask the question there.
phoenix, I have launched several threads since becoming a member of this forum.
Excellent - then go and launch another one and ask your question there.
Jomarie I will be remaining on this very poor humour thread for as long as I care to post.
What are getting out of being on a forum where you have little, if anything, in common with the majority of posters? Is no-one paying you any attention at home?
SirChenjin, as stated above, I will be remaining on this thread for the time being. ?
Marydoll Very wise! Could have been another of your cock ups
That’s no what I asked. Come on - tell us what you get out of being on a forum where you’ve got little/nothing in common with most of us? Does your wife not pay enough attention to what you have to say?
SirChenjin it is the attitudes of forum members such as yourself that ensures I shall remain on this forum and very regularly posting in contradiction of such attitudes.
Still not going to answer my questions? Come on, don’t be shy - I’m all ears.
Well in our house there are things my husband excels at: anything to do with computers, finance, pensions, banking, the cars, plumbing, electrical problems, moving heavy item - just to mention a few, all of which I am rubbish at. But conversely, there are things I excel at that he is rubbish at: cooking, organising, booking holidays, English grammar, English literature, foreign languages, ironing, not getting annoyed, and last but not least - shopping! A few years ago I had an operation on my foot and obviously couldn't go out, so off he went shopping. In addition to things on my list came home with the largest jars of pickles and red cabbage I have ever seen, I am talking catering size. We don't even eat either of them, no idea what he was thinking of. He also added such delicacies as a huge bag of raw frozen tiger prawns which cost an arm and a leg, a pack of pearl barley, which I have never cooked with and wouldn't know what to do with, a bag of curly Kale (I really don't like curly Kale), tins of butter beans (yeuck) and a pack of ox liver, which as you all know is nowhere near as nice as lambs liver! He also piled the trolley with all kinds of alcohol, mainly different beers and lagers, despite us having a garage full of the stuff! Still, I suppose I should be grateful that he actually did get all that was on my list, just a pity that he bought a load of other stuff too ☺
