Showing my ignorance again Marydoll and others but what is tablet?
WORD PAIRS -APRIL 2026 (Old thread full )
Air Conditioning units ,any advice please?
Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight here in Brackley looks like its been wet at some point.
Yet another day of self isolate , this morning looking at essentials I need to get to last me in the toiletries area.
I like using Brut as anti persistent , but i am using some other stuff I have as I am not going off on buses .
maybe play CD`s watch TV , cycling sport wise check to see what repeat is being shown.
Mick
Showing my ignorance again Marydoll and others but what is tablet?
Hi Megs Tablet is a bit like fudge but with a harder more crumbly texture . Delicious ?
A late good morning from the Shropshire borders.Dull and cold here today.
Decorating today and delivery from the local deli.
Gilly,my brother who can go months without contacting my mum is suddenly phoning her every couple of days?she said he must be bored!
Dragonfly, hope you got everything sorted out yesterday.
Welcome Susie, sorry for the loss of your DH?
Hope you feel better as the day goes on Mary.
Have the best day you can everyone and stay safe if you need to venture out.
Good Morning from a dry Bristol.
Bed clothes in the washing machine and then some ironing and a walk that's about all today just like everyone else.
Keep safe all
Cherry, hope you and WP feel better as the day goes on.?
Oh Marydoll did you have to post that picture ? I mean really ?
Mmmmmm I could just eat all that Marydoll DH is good at making tablet, I must get some extra sugar when I go shopping ,that's if they have any .
The thing is, Gilly, I may have to break my own rules and have a piece, (just a tiny piece) after my breakfast.
I think I deserve a wee treet if I have to thole 12 weeks of incarceration!
Calm down gilly there’s a queue here !
Very tempted to try that , Marydoll but I’m having to hang on to my tin of condensed milk for a DH birthday treat soon in lockdown....Banoffee Pie. All I need now is BANANAS
Marydoll
?
Marydoll and all, yum.
Another day of lockdown ahead for us all. The sun keeps making an effort to put in an appearance here in County Durham, so we shall live in hope.
Bedrooms to be completed today with lots of cleaning, tidying and sorting. Bulging charity bags ready to go into the loft, all ready for the day they can be safely deposited. I have tried to be as ruthless as can be regarding clothing etc.
My exercise routine will continue with my dance routines providing much needed stress relief.
DD 2 still on a school rota. My social worker DD1 is working more from home but will need to go out into the wide, wide, world as and when necessary. On the plus side DS company has closed it's doors and will only be called out for emergency work in hospitals.
I am so relieved 3 of my GC are not in school now (key worker places). They only went for one day as their parents decided they wanted to minimise their risk, so reorganised their work patterns to fit. Money will be lost, but health is what matters the most.
I am such a worrier but these are indeed worrying times. I pray for anyone working within NHS at this time. How frightened some of them must feel.
Take care all and I hope you find some sunshine today.
What yummy tablet Marydoll. X
Ooooh Marydoll that looks like what my Mum used to make, but she called it Helensburgh Fudge
Good morning Michael, Annie and all.
Mick, I just loved your anti persistent!
Know it was a typo, but made me laugh, thinking of you warding of all the Covid bugs with your Brut.
We had a lovely Face Time yesterday with GD and GGS. I had sent GD a photo of the Tiger Beanie I had made for GGS, and they popped up. He is only 2 and a bit, but said " is that for me?" Did you make it? Will you make a Gruffalo?
When he gets it, he has said I can have a photo of him wearing it . Can't wait.
Went out for shopping, and left robot vac, doing his thing, and came back to a clean lounge. But he doesn't like feathers, so ignores those. Our cushions tend to leak feathers every day, and if I don't have at least one stuck to me, something's wrong.
Marydoll, I love tablet, but have never mastered making it. Good job I don't live near you, or I would be pestering for some.
Heard this morning, that one of our Church members has broken his hip. He is quite frail and elderly, and not the best time to be in hospital. Just hope he pulls through.
It is so much colder here these last couple of days, but still bright and sunny, which helps the spirits.
Nice for our daily walk round the block.
No baking today, but may clean the fridge, and wash the kitchen floor. Oh joy. Got to keep thinking of things to do.
I am running out of wool in my stash, but have lots of books. The last bit of my jigsaw is so hard, all sky, mostly white and creamy, with a bit of blue, but the colours are so similar.
Gillybob, sorry to hear how distressed you DD is, but it is lovely that she and your GD can see you to speak to, albeit remotely. You are one strong lady.
To all who are struggling, worrying, or poorly, love and prayers.
Take care and stay safe one and all.
Good Morning All x
Cloudy with a touch of brightness now and again, but dry so far. Doesn't feel too cold though.
Will have to go to the corner shop though could do with going to Asda but won't risk a taxi and don't feel like walking the 1/4 mile to get there either as no buses stop there from here .
It's all very well having special times at supermarkets for the elderly, but it's getting there, isn't it and defeats the whole object if you have to get a bus/taxi there ? ( rolls eyes )
Ah well, never mind, I've just been to the corner shop, no Lurpak so I've had to settle for Kerrygold but I've got what I need for now and the freezer's not looking too bad so far.
Won't be doing so much today, as is usual for most I suspect. I leave a bit of dust about to give me some immunity
Hope all are managing to stay safe and well. xx
Good (mid!) morning Mick and everyone. As somebody said above, a good night's sleep certainly energises - I had a very productive day yesterday and even took up jogging!! Well, it was 100 little jiggy joggy steps - don't laugh ? round the garden paths. Grammaretto you're right and I'm so glad I took up tai chi. I did actually take up yoga first but it just wasn't for me, whereas tai chi just clicked from the first move and it certainly has that feel good factor. I do one full set (108 moves) each day and it is so calming. Marydoll I wish I was your neighbour - tablet is my all-time favourite! I have never made it purely because I'd devour the lot!! In one go! ?. Well, in the time it's taken me to read and write here the day has gone from grey to blue skies and sunshine and back to grey so I must wander off and do something in readiness for the next patch of sunshine - ever the optimist. My usual ? ? to all who are poorly or in pain, and a whole flock of ????? to all x
I remember your tablet now. Mum used to make it but can't just think what she called it. That and her treacle toffee as well.
Coconut macaroons were another favourite. We didn't need to buy cakes and sweets, just a couple of tins of condensed milk.
Victoria Woods and her step exercises, hilarious. What makes it all the funnier for me is that I know someone like that
I went on to watch the whole series of the Dinner Ladies----Anne Reid has hardly changed over the years, a remarkable person.
EllanVannin thank you! A reason for leaving the dust!
My part of the world is fighting the virus with chocolate if the empty display in the local co-op is any guide. Better than booze, I suppose!
Another day full of things I ought to do but can’t generate the enthusiasm for. Hope this feeling passes soon and a bit of get up and go returns. Otherwise I will be discovered at the end of this like Miss Havisham, surrounded by cobwebs.
Good morning Mick and All.
Bright and breezy in South Bucks.
Welcome SusieB50 so glad you made it here. I told you what a lovely bunch they are on this thread.
Sorry you have been feeling unwell Mary and Jan plus others. I’m about to pop some painkillers as my Polymyalgia is making me ache, but this is nothing in comparison with others, I just needed to moan. ?
Because I am washing my hands so much the skin feels sore so I am lathering on heavy duty hand cream. DH says I should do this at bedtime and wear gloves in bed, what a sight !
Keep going folk. ?
Just returned home from a bike ride with my pooch attached to my bike. She is a professional and I just wonder if she has done it before I rescued her as she has taken to it so well. It has really brightened my day as I was feeling so low after doing our factory month and year end figures earlier.
My DH is still in bed and I am getting worried about his mental health as our business is on the way out. I have this morning applied for a job to help out a little with the regular income. Let’s hope my skills are still in demand 15 years after my last proper job!!!
Scentia that is so worrying for you (yes, I'm still on here, but I'll be away in a minute). Will the new government help for businesses help to keep you afloat? Oh, and your taking the dog for a walk while you cycle brought back memories. One of my teachers from school used to drive very slowly along the West Sands in St Andrews with his dog lollopping along beside the car. Called "walking to wheel" I believe. Thanks for the memory x
