Resent all you like, I care not a jot what you think.

GN is quite poisonous at the moment.

Crossed posts Callistemon

Callistemon Sun 12-Apr-20 22:27:40

Thank you GrannyLaine

Sometimes I am in bits thinking about them at work and to read this kind of poison makes my blood boil

Callistemon Sun 12-Apr-20 22:28:54

It's probably best to give GN a break at the moment I think.

Anniebach Sun 12-Apr-20 22:31:08

Agree Callistemon there is much poison, yet there is caring
too.

I didn’t know they had named the doctor who treated him

JenniferEccles Sun 12-Apr-20 22:51:59

Boris most certainly was seriously ill, and in fact he said it could have gone either way.

I imagine he recovered fairly quickly once he came out of intensive care because he wasn’t on a ventilator or any intrusive form of delivering oxygen.

He sounded so grateful to the staff didn’t he?

What a massive relief for his family.

maddyone Sun 12-Apr-20 23:18:51

I’m glad that Boris has recovered sufficiently to leave hospital, but he clearly needs rest and recuperation now, as will any Covid patient who is lucky enough to leave hospital alive. Our NHS staff do not differentiate, they treat each and every patient in the best way possible for the recovery of that patient. I have two family members who work for the NHS and I also resent the suggestion that some people are treated more favourably than others. To suggest otherwise for political purposes is not only incorrect, it’s unpleasant.

JenniferEccles - spot on. He was extremely ill at one point but did not require a ventilator. He said there were two nurses who watched him round the clock and that careful monitoring is possibly why he didn't go to the ventilator stage. A ventilator is very intrusive and debilitating to the patient but he has avoided that experience and maybe that's why he has recovered well.

heath480 Mon 13-Apr-20 00:19:25

Labiak,ALL patients on a ventilator have there own Registered Nurse,it is 1:1 ratio.

Patients who are less ill it is 1:2.

That is the specially trained ICU Nurses,as well as those there are Registered Nurses of a lower grade.

I doubt Boris was treated any different to the other patients,it is not how our NHS operates.

Your comments are uncalled for.

heath480 Mon 13-Apr-20 00:21:24

I am a Registered Nurse,Registered Sick Children’s Nurse and Registered Midwife. So know a fair bit about our NHS.

Anniebach Mon 13-Apr-20 08:15:23

Labiak you said the PM had ‘one of the best specialist doctor’s in the world’

Who is this doctor ? Does he work in that hospital full time
or was he brought in just to treat the PM ?

surfsup Mon 13-Apr-20 09:07:07

I believe the two consultants overseeing his care, including the Italian dr, both work at the hospital. It would have been the nursing staff seeing over his care for the most part and I doubt his care was any different to anyone else's.

Anniebach Mon 13-Apr-20 09:40:44

Thank you surfsup

It is posts such as the one from Labiak which makes it impossible to believe much which is reported

Calendargirl Mon 13-Apr-20 10:47:53

I for one am extremely glad he was well enough to leave hospital, and gave sincere and heartfelt thanks for his care.

Chewbacca Mon 13-Apr-20 11:20:47

Thank you for some factual information heath480 and not some made up twaddle that's been conjured up to fit your agenda.

notanan2 Mon 13-Apr-20 11:28:20

ITUs at the moment are actually staffed 2 nurses per patient not the usual 1:1. Tasks are harder with all the PPE. One person jobs now take 2 people so they pair up and switch who is the "runner"

notanan2 Mon 13-Apr-20 11:33:47

And he had one of the best specialist doctors in the world.

He did but I dont know that there are any ITU consultants who wouldn't be described that way.
It's one of the most prestigous specialities. You do actually have to be the "best" just to make consultant. Just making it as far as an ITU registrar takes some doing!

maddyone Mon 13-Apr-20 11:36:08

Yes, thank you heath480 for the factual information. I already knew that patients are treated individually and according to their need, but it’s useful for it to be pointed out from someone who knows this absolutely.
I did see that Boris was admitted to hospital via a back door and obviously most patients aren’t. However this was very obviously to protect his confidentiality; at the front there would have been press waiting to photograph him. That is probably why he went to hospital in a car rather than an ambulance, as an ambulance outside number 10 would have caused speculation and been much less private for him. The public were kept informed via press releases, the PM deserved to have his confidentiality protected just as much as anyone else.

notanan2 Mon 13-Apr-20 11:40:28

There are different entrances for different things as they try to zone hospitals at the moment. He will have gone in a "red" door (there may be more than one) and not a "green" door as green entrances are now for non CV patients who still need hospital treatment

maddyone Mon 13-Apr-20 11:42:48

Well I didn’t know that notanan, thank you.

Anniebach Mon 13-Apr-20 12:20:28

Thank heaven for factual information

Whitewavemark2 Mon 13-Apr-20 13:50:55

In fact the whole hospital is divided and if you enter our university hospital you can’t get into the “covid” area without a card key, and everywhere there are warning signs.

Callistemon Mon 13-Apr-20 13:51:02

The parents of the New Zealand nurse who cared for Boris said that they are exceptionally proud of her.

Jenny McGee's parents said:

"... it doesn't matter what patient she is looking after, this is what she does"
"the same level of care she would have given anybody else the week before or next week"

And the same will go for all those wonderful doctors and nurses, no matter who the patient.

JenniferEccles Mon 13-Apr-20 14:01:30

That was a point well worth making Callistemon

I just knew there would be some comments claiming that ‘of course’ the PM had special treatment because of who he is, which is so unfair on the doctors and nurses caring for the general public.

SueDonim Mon 13-Apr-20 14:09:33

I agree, Callistemon. It’s outrageous to suggest hospital staff treat some patients more advantageously than others.
