Evening all!

Well, I'm part of the way there!

As I wasn't able to go to the salon for waxing (facial, anything "down below" can damn well wait, not that I bother much anyway)

I can't see well enough without my glasses to do my eyebrows, so they will have to continue on their mission to win a Dennis Healy lookalike competition, BUT!

The facial hair removing cream has been delivered!

To be honest, it was a bit of a toss up between ordering that or some moustache wax, and experimenting with either the Hercule Poirot or the Salvador Dali look, but I think that may have been a little de trop for our village confused

So, tomorrow morning, the bathroom door will be locked, and hopefully I will emerge looking fit to be seen in polite society, not that I can actually go out, and even if I could, not sure I would ever qualify for "polite" society, especially after what happened on Friday blush .............

Doodle Sun 12-Apr-20 21:25:25

Err what happened on Friday Phoenix? Do tell.?

EllanVannin Sun 12-Apr-20 21:47:04

Hilarious !

SirChenjin Sun 12-Apr-20 21:48:45

Do not do it - I cannot stress this enough. I ended up with chemical burns on my face that we’re weeping and required antibiotics after using facial hair removing cream - and the 2 weeks of a scabby face. Worst thing ever shock

Unless of course you’ve used it loads of times - in which case ignore me!

ExD Sun 12-Apr-20 21:52:16

I have a friend who swears by some little exfoliating gadget called something like NO. I'll ask her about it and post details.

Chewbacca Sun 12-Apr-20 21:55:41

Hmmm, I've had some near misses with hair removal creams myself SirChenjin and so I too would advise caution. I was walking like John Wayne for a fortnight.

phoenix Sun 12-Apr-20 22:05:03

Chewbacca if I end up walking like John Wayne after doing my (ahem) upper lip, of the facial variety, I will sue!

Doodle, I can't possibly divulge on here, suffice to say that with the application of Bach Rescue Cream, it's healing quite well blush

Chewbacca Sun 12-Apr-20 22:07:37

I started off doing my face phoenix and then progressed. Just sayin.... be careful....

SirChenjin Sun 12-Apr-20 22:12:48

Vaseline if you’re heading downstairs...

GagaJo Sun 12-Apr-20 22:13:56

Ditto with chemical burns. Hence my wax, slash and turn technique. I could never time hair removal cream right. Too long, chemical burns. Shorter time, not all hair removed.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Apr-20 22:17:13

I've just given up on finding something that works and is acceptable, and taken to shaving my face.

phoenix Sun 12-Apr-20 22:17:14

No, no, no, just the moustache fine, barely noticeable hair on my upper lip!

MiniMoon Sun 12-Apr-20 22:21:13

I have a little shaver that I use for my upper lip, and peach fuzz. I wouldn't dare use any cream on my face.

phoenix Sun 12-Apr-20 22:29:56

I had one of those, MiniMoon left stubble blush and then it fell down the loo.

Doodle the occurance on Friday had nothing to do with hair, facial, body or otherwise.

It was more of a "dancing" incident.blush

Chewbacca Sun 12-Apr-20 22:30:16

Why do you think they call that shaving thingy the No!No!? It's for a very good reason!

phoenix Sun 12-Apr-20 22:38:22

I tried one of those twisty things...............once.............

Luckygirl Sun 12-Apr-20 22:38:37

I have a little device that whizzes round and pulls the hairs out.

Callistemon Sun 12-Apr-20 22:50:21

Oh! I was thinking of sending for said cream

Perhaps not

SirChenjin Sun 12-Apr-20 23:01:51

Don’t do it Callistemon!

I had to spend two weeks telling my work colleagues I’d had a bad reaction to some home chemical peel I’d done. Thank god I’d done it to my whole face so could get away with the lie, as opposed to just my moustache blush

M0nica Sun 12-Apr-20 23:16:28

I just use a man's razor, face and legs. Luckily I had hair cut, electrolysis, and eye brows done within 10 days of the lock down, pure luck , no planning, so I am hoping that will get me most of the way through the lockdown. I have a hair appointment booked for the end of June already, beauticians will follow in a few weeks - and they can be moved if necessary.

Chestnut Sun 12-Apr-20 23:24:47

With hair removing cream do a patch test first on a small area behind the ear, like hair colour. Time it carefully. If no reaction in 24 hours then you can proceed the following day. An alternative are the little face wax strips, which I think are better. Veet and Nair do them and you can purchase online.

maddyone Sun 12-Apr-20 23:27:42

I use a lady razor for legs, I normally get my eyebrows waxed and trimmed, but they are sprouting very long hairs at the moment, and I normally use facial wax strips at home for the upper lip, facial lip.

SirChenjin Sun 12-Apr-20 23:43:32

I did a patch test Chestnut sad

It was weird, the chemical burns were in patches right across my face. The nurse I saw at the out of hours said that patch tests can’t be relied on 100% and my experience certainly bore that out.

Chestnut Sun 12-Apr-20 23:54:50

The reason I prefer the wax strips is because my face is a bit sensitive to some lotions anyway. Back in the 60s or 70s we were told how great Johnson's Baby Lotion was for removing make up. Well it nearly burnt my skin off! I was red and sore afterwards. I think it was the 'pink' colouring because I had the same with Oil of Ulay moisturiser and that was pink. I don't think either of them are pink any more.

I used the cream many years ago and like Sirchengin had really bad burns.i then spent around £2000 on laser treatment which was great ... until I stopped the sessions ! I have heard the laser is better now but I'm not spending that amount again ,just in case . My doctor gives me a prescription cream called Vaniqua now and my excess hair is no longer to be seen. One tube every 3 or 4 months .I wouldn't risk the cream again. It was around the start of the menopause so maybe thats whats causing your hair problem Pheonix
