And I'm ashamed to say it's "bone idle" combined with more than a touch of CBA blush

Yes, I clean the kitchen, bathroom, Hoover etc, but have I sorted out the spare room? Have I buffalo!

Have I used this extra time to up my non existent "beauty" regime, by applying moisturiser after my shower? Erm, judging by the dinosaur skin on my arms and legs, it would appear not.

Have I sorted through that drawer full of photos, or the one with various odds and ends of make up, or that glass pot on the dressing table full of earrings?

No, no and no again!

I am hopeless!

Thank you phoenix. this thread is great!

Purplepoppies, I love "My get up and go got up and pissed off". That describes it exactly grin

I also like your idea of employing a team of cleaners if this ever ends - just what I was thinking this morning when I was making a feeble attempt to remove a stain (of what, I wonder?) on a kitchen cupboard door. As I realised that it was far too tough for me, I thought of a local cleaning firm which I had thought of trying before. The only trouble is that in this town you are not going to get anyone who is a complete stranger, which might be embarrassing. On the other hand, by the time it might be possible to get them to come, they would be unlikely to be able to get in at the door because of the mountains of dust, so maybe the problem won't arise.

Oh dear, over-thinking again. Better go and lie down.

Well that's me nearly passed out with exhaustion. Today I had to take a meter reading then upload it to my energy supplier's website. That's 2 jobs really. As if that's not enough I almost emptied the dishwasher but, luckily, the impulse passed.
Soon be time for a cup of tea and fistful of M&S extremely chocolatey mini rolls.

Harris27 Wed 22-Apr-20 15:46:36

It’s funny reading this I always thought “ if only I had the time” now I have seem to do less with it!

Esspee Wed 22-Apr-20 16:05:39

OP. I’m with you all the way.?

123kitty Wed 22-Apr-20 16:55:26

I don't drink and I'm enjoying a glass of wine in the garden

phoenix Wed 22-Apr-20 17:06:04

I changed the head on my electric toothbrush!

(phoenix imagines a round of applause similar to that for an Oscar winner)

Oldbutstilluseful Wed 22-Apr-20 17:17:12

So sorry Phoenix, but I can only manage one round of applause a week and that’s on Thursday. I will however raise an eyebrow in recognition of your supreme effort

Grandmafrench Wed 22-Apr-20 17:53:12

Yep, huge round of applause, Phoenix
This afternoon I have, between little naps and some very light reading :
Re-plugged a bedside lamp where the toothbrush charger stood.
Put salt in the dishwasher
Both tasks required much awkward bending. After some tea and a sit down I put clean towels in the cloakroom.
Found marker pen and sat down to write clear instructions for delivery tomorrow on a sign for gates which says, Please place parcel over gates, sign for parcel, ring bell, don't wait. Thank you.
I really CBA to shout in French to a driver who won't hear because he will have retreated at lightning speed to the rear of his van.... thus my "charming accent" will only be heard by his backside which will be sticking out of the rear of the vehicle.
I have just been asked to empty the bedroom waste basket as dustman day tomorrow (3 collections a week). I will finish my G & T before attempting this. Soon be bedtime? I am plum tuckered today but will make another list tomorrow - maybe.

Our local council is on our side! We got a notification today asking people to NOT clear out houses and garages unless they have room to store the rubbish until the tips open again. (I do have room for storage but I’m ignoring that bit.)

Iam64 Wed 22-Apr-20 19:40:19

SueDonim- all is lost. Our council has opened the tips again, in response to significant pressure.

I do hope though, the tips opening reduces the fly tipping. that is the one growth industry around here (Other than the evil empire of course)

Want2Help Wed 22-Apr-20 20:02:41

I love this and am following the advice ? ? ?

SueDonim Wed 22-Apr-20 20:17:20

Iam64, those aren’t the rules of the game! How dare they sabotage our enforced idleness? grin

I agree that the fly-tipping is dreadful, though. angry

phoenix Wed 22-Apr-20 22:05:50

I'm ashamed to say that today I have also started another thread!

(I did have a lie down afterwards)

Owlfoot Wed 22-Apr-20 23:17:07

So glad I'm not alone. Was getting so despondent at reading how much others were getting done and thinking that I was the only one who wasn't doing anything productive with my time off. Procrastination should be my middle name!

boat Thu 23-Apr-20 04:58:32

When I write a To Do list I always put "make a list" at the top so that there's at least one thing I can cross off.

SueH49 Thu 23-Apr-20 08:19:43

Glad to see it is not just me that CBA, it is very strong here "downunder"

In spite of moving house five weeks ago and being surrounded by boxes full of stuff valuable items that need unpacking or sorting I've managed to do SFA for the majority of the time we have had restrictions. Our restrictions are not as severe as yours are but we are still encouraged to stay at home so really is it a matter of CBA or one of just obeying orders?

It's a shame OH wants to eat a regular meal that needs cooking and as I need to eat as well I would prefer to cook it myself than let him do it.

Laughterlines Thu 23-Apr-20 09:40:29

Marmight. For future reference sleep between two flat sheets no need for duvet cover. If you ever feel like changing the bed just change bottom sheet, top sheet becomes bottom sheet and fresh sheet on top. Simples.

Witzend Thu 23-Apr-20 10:17:08

Dh and I will have to empty our garage very soon - because someone trying to park drove into the back brick wall (garages in a block) and made such a massive hole in it, a builder who came to quote actually laughed and asked who’d driven a Sherman tank into it! The whole structure, inc. the up and over metal door, is damaged so we have to clear it for the builder.

God knows what on earth the driver was doing, but luckily damage costing £££££ will be covered by her insurance.

Dh was going to rent a van and put the stuff in storage - luckily not mountains of it - but has decided against because of potential virus contact.
We now have to make room indoors - good job no guests will be coming to stay any time soon!

Jane10 Thu 23-Apr-20 10:40:32

Oh no. My glasses need cleaning. Can hardly see to post. What next! angry

Marmight Thu 23-Apr-20 10:47:33

I fancy growing some sunflowers. DD says to take from the bird seed ....none. So this morning, as eating my Jordans muesli, I’ve been hooking out (sucking & spitting actually) a few seeds. Do you think they’ll work - I’ll wash them first!
So, apart from that and blowing furiously at a cobweb half way down the stairs which infuriatingly just wafted back & forth, that is the sum of my morning’s activity. Still half a day to go so may search out the feather duster later, but need a rest first ..

Marmight Thu 23-Apr-20 10:52:03

Thanks for the bedding advice laughter. I don’t possess flat sheets! I like to wrap myself up in a snuggly duvet. Its all back together now - lovely crisp white cover and new squishy pillows from Soak & Sleep (would highly recommend!)

GrannyLaine Thu 23-Apr-20 12:15:23

I'm with you Marmight, duvet cover is a must.
Hides the coffee stains on the duvet where I nodded off

Callistemon Thu 23-Apr-20 15:38:00

Marmight grin

A bit of spit might soften them and help them germinate.

I think someone asked for advice on growing sunflowers on another thread (or was it this one) and I did say that none of the ones I nurture seem to germinate, the best ones are the selfsetters found all around the garden from birdseed.

I've been very busy today, talking to my non-germinating seeds, planting pea seeds and picking dandelion heads. Cleaned the fridges.
Exhausted now, having a rest before the online shop arrives at 10pm tonight.

phoenix Thu 23-Apr-20 15:40:57

It was me, Callistemon but on the " gardening" thread!

Callistemon Thu 23-Apr-20 15:42:46

Oh, yes thankyou phoenix

It's a good thing one of us is with it!
They are still not through but I do have a stray tomato peeping through the soil.
