Do you buy presents for your AC birthdays Xmas

I give my AC a present but at Christmas the whole family do a Secret Santa makes life so much easier and cheaper for those who don’t have a lot as only one gift to buy. I do buy under 18s a gift or money.

Would be quite happy if they didn’t give us anything, not necessary, Christmas and birthdays vastly over rated nowadays.

Yes, we do. Our 2 sons (and partners when they've been in relationships) always get presents.

Yes but everyone has agreed a £20 limit for Xmas. Except for our Grandson’s present the the sky is the limit! Birthdays I give son and daughter in law some money to buy something for themselves.

Yes, of course. My mum is in her 90’s and still gives me a birthday present each year and at Xmas sends money for all the family. I’ve repeatedly said she doesn’t need to but she gets pleasure from doing something nice for other people.

I always buy for my three for Birthdays & Xmas surprises that I know they wouldn't buy for themselves such as their favourite perfume or aftershave those top of the range ones that they can't justify buying for themselves.

would never cross my mind not to buy presents,they're my children regardless of age ..I do tend to go over the top a bit and birthdays can last for a couple of weeks ,I buy something and give it early( my mother was the same) then buy something else for the day and find other things that would be perfect after the event so they get them too.Christmas is the same according to my son it lasts from October to february ,at least that what he told his partner when he first met her .now she agrees .I love buying presents

Good lord yes. I can't imagine ever thinking of not buying gifts for my AC. Gosh, fancy deciding 'not to bother' buying for your own children, what a very strange idea . I always spend a huge amount on ours because I love buying them things, and I shall go on indulging them for as long as I am able.

If AC is short for children , then of course we do. Why would we forget them?

We (or rather I!) do, but I do know families who now only buy for children. Must depend to some extent how big your family is. We have just 2 ACs and only one has children.

I always ask whether there’s anything particular they’d like - a dd recently asked for a really big saucepan/stockpot and a pancake pan! - the other asked for a particular dressing gown from M&S. I never buy anything fairly major without asking, and we always give cash, too.

I’m a big present buyer. I try to buy something I know they want on birthdays and some surprises. At Christmas we go mad and everyone gets a lot. We all make lists and presents are bought from that so it’s things people want but We do go “ off piste” a bit and buy things we spot as well. I have 2 children 2 grandchildren and a SIL so it’s not a big family, although I buy for god children (2) and friends as well. It gives me a lot of pleasure why would you not just because they’ve grown up?

I send money to the ones overseas as postage has become prohibitive, luckily the DD enjoy shopping.
I've come to dislike going to the shops more, but do buy presents for all the family as I enjoy giving them gifts, usually checking beforehand what they'd really like.

Absolutely yes. I love buying gifts for them even though they are middle aged men. They are still my children.

Yes for birthdays, but we do a Secret Santa now for all the adults at Christmas. Unless there’s a special request, we tend to go for consumables (special perfume or whisky, etc) or things to do (a meal out or theatre tickets with babysitting) rather than more stuff. Never cash for adults, unless it’s to buy something specific.

By AC I take it you mean Adult Children? I’ve given up buying actual gifts as they have everything and never wait to buy things! Plus they live 300miles away. The GC have actual cash given to them to use as they wish and likewise with their parents. My husband and I do not exchange gifts either but will go on holiday or to theatre etc. I have always hated celebrations since childhood.

I always buy gifts for the adult children and partners. We do a present list to ensure everyone gets something they want. Obviously the GC get more. When younger we bought for siblings and nieces and nephews but stopped that when the children grew up.

DD get a good cheque but DS who has children told us to miss him and give to the children . They end up with money in the bank they never see plus lots of Santa gifts. I did send a good cheque to DS for his 50th. birthday . We normally have a no adult gift rule .
