Many of us are very good at hiding the fact and don’t share that not all is well with our lives at the moment kitty but I thought, considering all gilly is still having to endure, support and understanding as opposed to a nasty insult to add to her stress wasn’t the best tack.
I am simply looking at this from both sides.

Good Morning Wednesday
(90 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another bright blue sky this morning over Brackley.
It is also less windy as well at the moment.
Any way yesterday , I did attempt to scan some photos, of my late Father.
We have a Facebook page dedicated to Memories ,and the ones I eventually managed get into the right area , posting 3 items on the page .
Today ,small shop, and see how the day develops.
My hair trimmer as now arrived at a courier in UK , so will be interesting to see when I arrives.
Take Care
Mick
Good morning from a sunny and bright East Midlands. I got the washing out this morning and even managed to water all of the plants before 8am! So chuffed. DH out on our weekly food shop and the fridge has been washed out ready for the new supplies. I haven’t been too good for the last couple of days but feel a lot better now. Wicked heartburn though and nothing seems to be shifting it.
Stay safe and sane and have the best day that you can.x
@gillgran...spot on it is Sandringham...they are a picture at the moment. I was being a bit coy, goodness knows why, daft twit
See all the support here, gilly, you are among friends.
I worry a bit that all is not well with eazybee to react like that. I hope she/he is ok and will let us support her if it helps.
Good morning everyone from a warm but grey S of ?? France.
Brilliant idea, BladeAnnie, much more fun than being sad and, as you say, if that’s the worst that happens.....there’ll be another time for another celebration. Really happy for your planned wedding but meanwhile enjoy your Unwedding Day. ?
Appalled to hear about the protected trees, Marydoll, the wrongdoers and the contractor deserve heavy fines.
For all those who can, I hope you’re finding some comfort in some relaxing of the lockdown rules. Apart from the ‘confusion’ which seems to have been created as the Govt struggles to create a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, there remains the thorny problem of not being able to pick up on life exactly as before. That’s going to take a lot of hard decisions, trial and error, major changes and annoyances in our lives. And the cost of all that ?!! Most of us can embrace change if we have choices. In this it’s becoming increasingly obvious that some hard decisions must be made and everyone will have to accept them. Life can’t be the same...and I struggle with that ?.
Had my day of freedom yesterday. ( The first real day out we cancelled due to rain stopping play! ) We needed to collect some shrubs we’d ordered last week. Glorious day, glorious display at garden centre. Could I stop and browse? Mais non!
Customers wearing masks, not too busy, everyone keeping their distance. Staff wearing masks or plastic face shields.
Then I spotted a selfish elderly couple, no masks, no acknowledgement of others, what social distancing? He was really good at talking to his constantly moving partner from the middle of each walkway, doorway, and constantly making people move away. Two other women, 50 maybe, no masks, separately ignored floor markings at cash desk. One was seriously told where to go by a customer upon whose shoulder she was almost parking her rose tree. The other one attempted to stand next to me and was told loudly to get away. All this happened in the indoor section of the centre! What should have been a lovely little trip after 7 weeks was spoiled.
The shop was so wrong in not making the rule for all. The French need rules, even though collectively they can revert to pre-Revolution times if they all decide to protest, but yesterday was simply a case of a few spoiling things for the many.
Hope that life is getting better for Dragonfly and Dexter. Keep soldiering on, Gilly but whatever you say or do, remember not to criticise those helpful people at your bank .......Barking at Banclays is not the thing to do. On this thread, you must never show any real emotion and, above all, never be uncouth!!
Take care and to everyone stressed, distressed or unwell, let’s all try to help each other for as long as it takes. Stay safe and have the best day you can. Bises/Kisses from France ?
Good Morning from an cloudy, chilly, N.,Cambs.,
I got excited when I saw Hermia46 mention the rhododendrons in bloom.
I hope to get to see the ones near Sandringham, on our day visit to the N.W.Norfolk coast, in the next couple of weeks.
I saw no problems yesterday, your virtual friends support you Gillybob,
.
Good wishes to you all.
Good morning from a breezy Market Harborough.
Another day of this lockdown. Stay safe and sane. X
Good morning Mick and the GM team, from grey east London.
Before I say anything else, I must add my voice to the myriad others encouraging gillybob to continue to post and vent, in whatever manner is most useful and comfortable.
We are all grown women (and men, of course) on this thread and can absorb some colourful language from one of our number. Reading the thread at any time, it’s clear the support for gillybob and her family, in the face of unbearable challenges, is widespread.
I find it utterly ridiculous that she should be branded ‘uncouth’ and feel discouraged from joining in Mick’s lovely thread. In fact I think it’s a load of sh*t - there, that’s me in the ‘uncouth’ corner too.
Gillybob pay no attention to your detractor, who is massively outnumbered by your Good Morning friends. We will always welcome you here, in the best spirit of our favourite thread.
So, good thoughts to all, have a nice day and ‘let’s be careful out there’. ?
Good morning all from a beautiful a sunny day in Glasgow, still a nip in the air though.
I must be uncouth too gilly but no one has been petty enough to bother when I have used the odd swear word over the year’s on GN. Silly bugger.
Have a pleasant day all.
Good morning all , weather here in Devon this morning is sunny but fair bit of cloud & windy again
My washer/drier decided to pack up late last night, tried to book engineer on line but gave up at about 1.00 am. Started again this morning, finally success, booked for next Tuesday.
On a brighter note, hopefully a day in the garden battling the weeds or sitting in the sun
Good morning from the Shropshire borders where it’s another chilly start.
Another day of nothing planned but am quite enjoying having a restful few days.I have nearly finished the book gilly recommended, have really enjoyed it and have a few more books lined up to read.
BladeAnnie, enjoy your day tomorrow and I hope it won’t be too long before you can have the wedding and honeymoon you had planned.??
Gilly, please don’t stop posting. We are all here to support you and like many others admire the strength you have shown dealing with everything you have had thrown at you.Don’t let one person keep you from the support of all your friends here on the good morning thread???
Have the best day possible everyone.
Very late good morning from East London . I gave up last night and took one Nytol , and slept well until 8.30 this morning . Feel hungover though !
Big day today I’m meeting my son in the park with a flask of coffee . The twins will also be there riding around on their bikes . I think the government information is very ambiguous - my daughter can apparently go back to having her after school club ( she’s not though) but can’t see her extended family !!
Good morning from a bright Morecambe Bay where the easterly wind continues to blow cold air.
It’s 12 months to the day since DH had major surgery for cancer. What a nightmare that day was and the complications which followed. It seems an eternity away from that now as he is doing so well, and virtually back to full strength.
I’m in a dilemma what to do about meeting DS2. It’s his birthday on Monday but as he’s been in work throughout lockdown I’m reluctant to meet up even though I desperately want too.
Thinking of poor Gilly. ?I think my language would be choice if I had to put up with all she has too and for so long now.
Some gardening later and our ‘gym2’ exercise routine. Yesterday was yoga, but I couldn’t face it! Hopefully will do better today. Stay safe and take care everyone.?
Good morning all from mid-Notts - seemingly changeable weather so far this morning. Bright sunshine one minute followed by dark cloudy skies. Today we should have been travelling up to Gretna Green for mine and DOHs wedding tomorrow, followed by a leisurely 3 week drive around the North Coast 500 taking in all the beauty of Scotland. So sad this has had to be put on hold but in the grand scheme of things if this is the worst that happens for my family ..... So tomorrow is our "not wedding day",!! New pjs (for a pj day), buttonholes, tartan bunting, champagne and a meal delivered in from a local pub. Making the best of things and we didn't want the day just to pass and we will look forward to when we really do it properly (not in pjs!!) & become Mr & Mrs!! Bedding to change this morning and macaroni cheese for tea tonight. Stay safe everyone and may Wednesday be kind to us all x
I am surprised the tree surgeon didn’t check ownership and status of trees. Round here they always ask about tree preservation orders because they don’t want the legal hassle of doing the wrong thing. Hope the culprits are fined heavily but I bet they aren’t.
Gilly, if you can’t share here then where can you? Please just be yourself. Better than keeping it all in until you burst. A hug from me.
marydoll what a kerfuffle with those trees. Thank goodness your neighbour put a stop to it. I’m surprised the tree surgeon agreed to it, no matter the sum involved.
@Marydoll, sounds like your neighbour is not a lady to be messed about. Shame about the trees. As they come into full blossom they are looking lovely around here. We are lucky enough to be near a royal residence and the purple rhododendrons are a picture at the moment. Don't panic not out illegally, an essential hospital visit meant a drive into town.
Goooood morning Mick...
It's a bright start here in Yorkshire but chilly, I've flung my windows open and replaced my tee-shirt for a jumper hahaha.
Well, today I am taking all the patchwork drawstring bags to my friends ( gloves on, bag dropped at doorstep and a conversation on the doorstep) I am then going home to make a cake... I think chocolate .... (( she says as her mouth is watering haha)) well, as from today we are allowed out to zoom about the countryside, I for 1 am doing it.... but that's another topic altogether... so I say enjoy your day everyone whatever you do, take care and we WILL GET THROUGH THIS
The tree surgeon did stop, after a one hour stand off with my neighbour. No-one messes with her! ?
It's a shame, as the the trees look awful. It was part of the enjoyment of living here. There was an air of calm about them.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good Morning Everyone x
Not a bit like summer out there, it's perishing ! I let the cats out first thing and a blast of icy air came inside and I immediately felt miserable.
Then I put the news on
, hysterics by then. Normally when I've felt like that I've got myself ready and gone out shopping to get rid of the " black pig on my back " as mum used to say.
Must get myself motivated today as my feet swelled up last night with doing too much sitting----not good. A bit of a catch 22 really because if I work myself up to a sweat which you're supposed to do the A/Fib kicks in so you can't win
I don't know which is worse.
Anyway, whatever happens I'll be doing a peppered steak today for the eating of,.so that'll cheer me up.
Still haven't got my shredder yet so Ebay here I come and some " proper " light bulbs too.
Speaking of which, my next-door neighbour knocked at teatime yesterday, in a panic that her electricity had gone off so I shouted to her what to do and which switch wasn't the right way up----sorted, so she got on with her cooking.
I wish the cats would lose themselves for a couple of hours because I want to hoover around and they're scared stiff of it. I feel so cruel if they see me wheeling it in, silly me.
Gillybob, many's the time I've sworn down the phone believe you me. x After I'd sworn spoken to someone at one time I carried on cussing after the call and hadn't replaced it properly on the cradle
my friend was here at the time and was in a heap laughing.
Me and incompetence just doesn't gel. I don't do dozy.
Just looking up from typing, I've still got 3 Mother's Day cards on the mantle-piece from my girls, yes, you've guessed, I haven't dusted it
. I hate house-work, much happier cooking/baking.
Anyway, take care to those who are " free " and commiserations to those who aren't but whatever you do stay safe and well xx
A grey good morning here on the Suffolk coast. No bright
blue sky today!
How horrible of those people to order the destruction of the trees, MARYDOLL. who do they think they are? Let’s hope they get their come- Uppance. Did the tree feller stop after your neighbour intervened?
Might do a shop today. We’re not desperate but need birthday cards, toiletries and disinfectants.
Hopefully we’ll get to the local forest and have our walk to see the rhododendrons (still can’t spell it) as we didn’t get there yesterday.
Have a gentle day all ?
Morning all don’t often post but thought I would today. Gilly today’s a new day- so sod ( is that an uncouth word? if so apologies in advance but it’s how I feel) what happened yesterday and continue to be yourself and post.
We are all virtual friends on here, or should be, ready to help each other if we can which is what matters in not just these difficult times.
Things get on top of us and heaven knows, many would have crumbled long ago without a listening ear and advice from the grans.
We are all human, we are all different we are all susceptible to being hurt and rejected. We all need to remember that- including me which is why I rarely post in case I inadvertently offend by something I’ve written which could be misunderstood.
Have a good a day as you can all.
Morning all on this bright, sunny morning, it's a little cold but that will pass I hope. Just been down doing my shopping at Morrisons, unfortunately did not get everything I wanted but the kind baker behind the counter sold me some of his plain flour {for his bread} so I was very chuffed. Just got to put the shopping all away now. Gilly - thinking of you. Marydoll you seem brighter today but shame about the trees. Hopefully it will get sorted out and action will be taken on the culprits. Well looking forward to my day, just about to start all my housework, didn't even make my bed before I went out so not like me but think I'm settling into the fact that I have all day on my hands. Have a nice day if possible, take care and chin up.
Good morning everyone from sunny West Yorkshire.
Marydoll serves them right. I hate, hate seeing trees being chopped at. I imagine it must distress them. Daft, I know.
Big cat has not surfaced yet. I gave her a gentle prod and she is fine, just sleepy.
I got some tablets, the ones my husband called Irene’s little helpers yesterday. I feared that my GP wouldn’t give me any without seeing me, but it was not a problem.
I do hope that everyone who is seeing loved ones today has the loveliest time. It’s been tough for so many.
Do take care and special thoughts for those ill or troubled ?
