Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another clear blue sky start to the day this morning, no sign of any frost around this way.
Today, usual shop for essentials , one thing with the lockdown, I do not know about others but I have the odd snacks ,and my weight goes up .
My hair trimmer arrived it does not due much, so looked at others online and no stock , so there maybe containers coming in with items from where they make them ,as the demand for grooming hair at home as grown.
take care
Mick

Not yet, we can meet up with one other person out in public, not even in their garden. I called my MP and said my DD always comes with a 1 year old attached and she said that’s ok as long as we stay 2m apart. No huddles, no playing with GC at the moment.

Marydoll Fri 15-May-20 08:09:30

Good morning all from a cool and cloudy Glasgow. Dithering about whether to put the washing out or not.
That's probably the only important decision I will make today!

Mick that's a shame your trimmers didn't live up to your expectation. I'm awaiting a hair trimmer from the long river company for DH, (terrified to try it), along with an oximeter, recommended on here.
I thinned my very thick hair and fringe yesterday. I was surprised to experience no disasters, apart from a sliced thumb! I hadn't realised thinning scissors were so sharp! Ouch! ?
It looks OK and DD noticed it did look thinner.

I want to thank all those on GN, who made my birthday very special with their good wishes and participation in the virtual school birthday bash, started by Pantglas.
It was probably one of the best birthdays, I have ever had.
Who would have believed it, given the circumstances?
What was amusing, was that every single person included a bottle of non-alcoholic fizz in my gifts, knowing that I can no longer have alcohol!

I haven't seen one of my sons for seven weeks, as he and his fiancée are chronic asthmatics and were self isolating, working from home.
I couldn't believe it when they arrived in my back garden last night. I'm afraid there were a lot of tears yesterday, but tears of joy for a change! blush
My future DIL's mum and sister have been working in ICU with Covid patients so it has been an extremely stressful time for all of them.
Number 2 son looks like an extra from Braveheat, his bright red hair and beard need cut. His hair seems to have reverted back to the carrot red of his youth!
My other son organised a family video chat yesterday morning and DH had a terrible time, stopping me from Elder son has the blackest hair and beard and it looked so odd, seeing one red headed brother and one very dark haired in the video.

A very gentle day for us and we have a Tesco delivery, what exciting lives we live!
DH was saying he would even look forward to hospital visit in the rush hour, if it meant we could legitimitely get out of here!

Norsat, chicken and chorizo is on my menu for next week, not had it for ages.
So glad to see Dragonfly posting again, but missing Auntieflo.
Hoping to hear better news from Susan and Gilly.

I'm going to welcome any newcomers in advance and wish those with a birthday, a very happy day.
I have things to catch on and may not be back for a while.

Take care all.

Psyching myself up for my weekly treat of a trip round Tesco; never thought it would be something to look forward to.

After our clap for carers session we played neighbourhood bingo outside, suitably distanced. Surprisingly good fun, especially as the winner was the most cerebral person in the road. I have promised not to tell her children!

Good morning from East London , just woken up to what looks to be a sunny day . I hope it’s warmer. I plan to put up the climbing bean sticks . I will need to stand on some steps to reach to tie them! I’m meeting my daughter in the local park today for a walk which will be lovely .

grannysyb Fri 15-May-20 08:13:35

Lovely day here, but chilly. Going to walk to the allotment and weed and water. It's a mile there so walking both ways will fulfill my daily exercise quota. Lovely news Scentia, something to look forward to. Hope Gillybob finally gets help from Barclays. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from a beautiful Suffolk coast. Makes you glad to be alive.

We clapped last night with 2 neighbours - there are t many of us here. Followed by a couple of glasses of wine in neighbours garden. A bit chilly but we so enjoyed it.

Talking of crows Ginny42 - we were having our dinner last evening, when there was a sharp rapping on the kitchen window and it was the big old crow trying to
to get in. Frightened the life out of us. He also has pecked at our neighbours car wing mirrors. Apparently they are attracted to the rubber or glue surround. Horrid thing!

We should have been going to a wedding today. A young lady who I looked after along with her two brothers, . Her mother had died when she was 6 and dad had to go back to work, so I was a surrogate mum for 10 years. The first week I was with them I went home and told my husband ‘ I’ll give it 6 weeks and then I’m off’ . They were so badly behaved. They are the most wonderful people now and I’m so proud of especially Caroline. She has postponed her wedding until December and she’s asked me to be her witness. Watery eyes!

Have a lovely sunny day everyone. ?

gillybob Fri 15-May-20 08:17:51

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a cold and grey start to Friday . My little Friday girl is so desperate to make an appearance but I think she understands things aren’t quite right .

Wonderful news about your new “lockdown baby” Scentia I think there might be quite a few of those smile

I slept a little better last night although I dunno why. Nothing’s changed much. Those of us being treat very badly by Barclays did get a little mention on Martin Lewis’s money program last night so fingers crossed they get their act together soon. My DH got a letter from Imperial College London yesterday asking if he would be prepared to take a CV test which has sent my son’s conspiracy theory's into overdrive. He remains convinced that my DH had the CV at the end of last year but they didn’t understand what it was then. hmm

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible .
Love

Gillybob x

Thanks Puzzler61 it's an 80 mile drive, a long way for a walk in the park. You didn't mention (private) gardens, so I guess they aren't included in the current instructions.

Mythbirtthedragon Fri 15-May-20 08:21:19

Good morning from east London, sunny, blue and not as cool as yesterday. Choir last night was really enjoyable, we did ‘Careless Whispers’ , 1920s style. Today I am back on the tennis court, playing singles and observing all guidance. Probably last about half an hour. Have a good day.

GabriellaG54 Fri 15-May-20 08:21:47

No. You're right on the money Puzzler61

Good morning from a sunny but cold Colchester.
I have ironing to tackle and a bed to change, but otherwise nada as per.
I am purposely not buying snacks but DH insists on baking and eating the results.....

Gingster Fri 15-May-20 08:26:46

GILLYBOB - I know quite a few people who are certain they had the virus December and January. My son, for one, who was travelling on trains to work. Had all the symptoms quite badly but for only a couple of days. Just thought it was a touch of flu.

NotAGran55 Fri 15-May-20 08:28:15

Good morning from sunny West Berkshire.

I’m in snail ? mode this morning, usually ready for the day by now but not showered yet . I’m sure there must be something interesting to do today but it hasn’t come to me yet . More of the same I guess.

Mick you can set up an email alert on John Lewis for out of stock items and do a ‘ click & collect ‘ the next day from your Waitrose branch . Works very well in my experience.

Fingers crossed for Gillybob today .

Congratulations to Scentia on your family’s happy news .

Happy Friday one and all .

GabriellaG54 Fri 15-May-20 08:28:57

Gingster
You must be so pleased and proud and what a lovely person you are for doing what you did. ?
It's thanks to you that Caroline grew into the delightful person you now know.
A sad story with a happy ending. Respect. ??

Lins1066 Fri 15-May-20 08:30:41

Good Morning Mick and all from the S Welsh coast where there is a cloudless blue sky.
Less people out for the clap last night in our cul de sac.
Wishing your husband a very Happy Birthday NannyT ??
Hope you will get somewhere with Barclays today gilly
Stay safe everyone.

brook2704 Fri 15-May-20 08:30:52

Congratulations Scentia on your lovely news ! ❤️?

Lins1066 Fri 15-May-20 08:32:08

Great news about Dexter dragonfly. xx.

gillybob Fri 15-May-20 08:37:31

Gingster your son probably did have CV.

My son always said when my DH was on life support at the end of last year that they didn’t have a clue what was wrong with him. They tried every antibiotic known to man . Huge cocktails of stuff that had the most senior microbiologist in the country completely baffled . Kept saying that whatever it was mimicked other virus’s . I’m starting to wonder myself and why suddenly this letter ? hmm

On a lighter note, on opening the letter my DH announced “I knew I shouldn’t have had that Chinese takeaway last October.” grin

NotAGran55 Fri 15-May-20 08:40:39

Gelisajams How are going to be able attend the birthday celebration when the guidance is only to meet ‘one to one’ in a park or open space ?

It is my MILs birthday next week and we can’t get together as we would normally do .

Greyduster Fri 15-May-20 08:45:27

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A bright start I’m South Yorkshire; not quite as cold as yesterday. We had to take a trip to the bank yesterday, so nipped into the butchers next door for one of their legendary steak pies and then across the road to one of our lovely parks for a walk. We took a small flask of coffee and a couple of pieces of fruit cake and sat on the grass in the sun for a while. Lots of family groups doing the same, but acres of space so no problems. Far less stressful than trying to avoid people on our usual local paths. We noticed on the way home that two of our three garden centres were open and judging from the car parks, very busy. I have some plants I have raised to find space for today, and that will be the last of our planting. Have a good safe day folks

Gingster Fri 15-May-20 08:47:31

Thankyou Gabriella for your kind words ?

Gingster Fri 15-May-20 08:51:32

GILLYBOB . It must have been the virus! Makes you wonder doesn’t it!

JenniferEccles Fri 15-May-20 08:57:17

Is your husband going to have the test Gilly?

I am sure a lot of us have spoken to so many people who now with the benefit of hindsight are convinced they had the virus last year before it had allegedly arrived in Europe.

If that’s the case it could mean millions of people here could already have immunity.

Mapleleaf Fri 15-May-20 08:59:10

Good morning,

Another lovely bright morning though breezier than yesterday.

I've got a bit of weeding to do in the front garden today and the bedding to change and wash, but otherwise, not a lot planned! My goodness, we won't know what's hit us when we are allowed to go about our everyday activities. By the time we are allowed, we might have forgotten how to do them ! ??

Lovely news, Scentia. You must be thrilled. ?

Take care, everyone.
