Hi all,
I have decided to start a treat yourself society here on GransNet as I feel as we are trying to be kinder to one another, we also need to be kinder to ourselves, especially in times like these. Who’s with me?

I’ll start, I treated myself to three tops and a beautiful pair of pyjamas last night (my mother gave me some money to treat myself).

I also thought it might be a good idea to encourage our loved ones to do the same.

So, let’s have a lovely thread, a lovely time treating ourselves and a lovely treat.
Take care,
FlyingHandbag x

Actually, now you've posted, the thing I want most of all... is a Flying Handbag! Where can I get one?

Juicylucy Sat 16-May-20 10:34:52

I’m seriously considering buying a second hand bike as well.

LuckyGirl a relative ordered from there and said it’s brilliant so I ordered stuff two or three days ago, will update when it comes. From what I’ve heard, the stuff comes from the states not China. It takes about a week and a half or two weeks to arrive but the clothes are so cheap and beautiful I think it’s worth it. I hope I’ve helped x

Video games! (Yes, I like gaming and I'm 63) and dvds and books. Those are my treats to myself.

I treated myself to this skirt from Thought Clothing. During my weekly shop at Tesco yesterday I bought myself a Swingball to amuse myself in the garden. Yes my husband did roll his eyes and sigh loudly when he saw it.

Your Robert Welch ladle has many years of excellent use ahead kittylester. 10 years ago I came into a small inheritance and I decided to invest it in a set of good kitchen knives, cutlery and utensils and I chose the Robert Welch Radford range. They're all in use daily and get chucked in the dishwasher and look as pristine now as the day I bought them. A bit more expensive than some but they're excellent quality.

Making masks I have been considering a new sewing machine. I have one 58 years old which is basic but terrific for heavy materials and another 25 years old has a few attachments but just doesn't seem to be consistent at even straight sewing. Heck, I have convinced myself I need a new machine!

Nortstat how lovely! I have a few Ridley bags my downfall is handbags. The week we went into lockdown I bought a new ted baker bag for work and it’s sitting looking at me !, I will use it eventually and be proud that we returned!

I’m going to treat myself to a lovely meal at my local country pub.

A few weeks ago I sent all 3 members of my family some chocolates and sweets, having ordered from the internet. Then another week I sent 2 M&S fruit boxes and some Prosecco. This week my daughter surprised me with a box containing a lobster and a kilo bag of shell on prawns. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer gift. It’s good to treat others and yourself. You’ve got nothing else to spend your money on if in lockdown.

I have barely spent a penny since lockdown, except bills. I ordered some new silks for my cross stitch project, to keep me busy and I felt guilty doing that. Living on a boat stops to much ordering as my post can’t come here

Just looked at TrustPilot reviews for Shein and they are mixed - it is indeed trading from China.

I treated myself to some pyjamas from JL and I needed to spend a bit more to get free delivery. I have wanted a nice ladle for serving at the table for ages, so had a look.

The pyjamas didn't fit but the Robert Welch ladle is beautiful.

Excellent ideas! I am trying free motion machine embroidery for the first time and debating whether or not I need some lovely new embroidery threads.......

FlyingHandbag - is Shein legit? It always seems to be on pop-up ads online; and I got stung by one of those - it turned out to be a company in China who are well-known for not actually coming up with the goods, but taking your money.

I've been treating myself to a cake here, a sausage roll there and a packet of crisps, etc which is obviously why I've put on weight during the lockdown. The trouble is that I want that cake, those giant white chocolate cookies, that quiche, that trifle etc. Oh dear.
My latest purchase on the clothes front was a nice pair of pyjamas but I'm too thick to post pictures.

Treated ourselves to some new plants and some solar lights for the garden. It’s lovely to look out in the evening when they glow.

I read that lots of shops are selling off summer dresses at half price and so had a good browse yesterday. Ended up ordering this dress from Monsoon, can't wait for it to arrive, although goodness knows when I can wear it!

I should have gone on holiday at the end of April and had treated myself to a travel pack of rather expensive toiletries/skincare products. I decided to use them anyway , it felt a bit indulgent but they were really lovely and have definitely helped my dry skin during the period of lockdown. We all need a treat sometimes

inishowen Sat 16-May-20 09:30:08

I'm spending money on the garden. That cheers me up.

Ngaiol, thank you I have heard of Brandalley, but have never bought anything from them. I will have a good look now.

I bought my bag and purse in the Mulberry sale. ??

FlyingHandbag Fri 15-May-20 19:02:39

Has anybody else been treating themselves?

FlyingHandbag Fri 15-May-20 17:47:15

Ngaio1 I don’t believe I have. It sounds very good. I used a website called Shein to order my clothes. I wouldn’t normally buy from there but a relative did and said it is great for the price, so if my items are agreeable I think I will get a lot from there. Your bags sound beautiful!x

Ngaio1 Fri 15-May-20 17:32:54

Nortsat. In case you were not aware, Brandalley does deal with Mulberry and many high end sales. Just a thought.
