What will you MISS when the lock down ends??

I know what we all miss with the lock down- seeing hairdresser ( 1st priority) DGC, clothes shopping ,yoga class, coffee with friends etc. but will there be something you will miss once we get back to normal?
I know I will miss sitting on the sunbed ALL afternoon with a Kindle full of books.
I will have to get up earlier again as DH will (hopefully) be going back to work.
I will miss going round a nice quiet supermarket as we are only allowed a certain number of shoppers in at the moment- I won't mind the queue outside but TBH you do get to chat to some interesting people.
I will miss the total lack of urgency for anything to be done too.
There have been good things come out of this- I know every neighbour in our cul de sac now as we all chat after 'clapping' & have had several 'street parties' where we all sit outside our own houses & walk up middle of road talking to each other. Lovely to see the children playing.
I have actually enjoyed my daily walk too instead of jumping in the car all the time.
I know our cats will miss not having a convenient lap available all day.
There have been positives in all this madness.

The peace and quiet and clear air. I am finding breathing much easier. It's a shame that we can't have a 3 months lock down every year but without the horrid reason.

I'll miss the relaxed routine I have just now!! Not having to rush into town 'cause I have forgotten something - I just have to be patient and wait for my weekly shop and hope it's all intact!!

Birdsong without the traffic noise. Probably the good weather, because I get it will disappear once we are able to choose what to do. The long walks-I know we could still do them but I wonder if we will find time once work and visiting are the daily routine again.

Procastination - oh, I can leave that until tomorrow. Bliss.

I will miss no clock watching, not that I did much. I have so loved just being able to get on and do what I want with no interuptions and distractions. DH and I have worked in harmony in our idyllic setting and the gardens and veggie patches are magnificent. the house is tidier, lots to chuck out. I have done a lot of creative stuff as well as working outside. Utterly exhausted!

And of course even greater peace and quite in this beautiful valley. Quite frankly, apart from not being able to be with my family, I have loved the lockdown and would be quite happy for it to go on longer!

I could go on a rant here about the Geriatric Snowflake generation, but it would probably get taken down anyway. still come back to how, particularly in France, our parents and grandparents survived a dreadful wartime 5 years with stoicism that is sadly lacking in many older people's make up. Need I mention Anne Frank again?

I will miss the no routine (usually work part time) and not setting the alarm each day. Will miss the being able to do what we want at home as and when. I am making the most of the precious gift of time I dont usually have.

Nothing!

The peace and quiet, and empty roads.

There is nothing at all I will miss. I am stuck in a flat with no garden and with DC and DGC hundreds of miles away. I am waiting for a so-called urgent hospital appointment. If I read one more 'so grateful for the garden' or 'DC popped round with my shopping etc' I think I will scream.

I shall miss the quieter roads too

I will miss the peace and quiet..... I think ‘noise pollution’ is the biggest threat to people’s mental health...I hate, hate ,hate the noise of the modern world. I don’t fly and dont drive.... I hope these activities never return to ‘normal’

I will miss the beautiful birdsong of early morning which will slowly be drowned out when everyone is jumping back into cars and rushing off to work.
The slowed down pace of life and how people have been more pleasant and relaxed and many people just saying good morning and good afternoon when people start getting busy they forget to say things like that.
I will miss the peacefulness and the quiet roads with less cars. Unfortunately the roads started to get busy again from last week so horrible.
I did not want the world to get this virus but it has cleared and cleaned the planet.

I too will miss the beautiful blue skies we have been enjoying, the birdsong , working in my garden most days for several hours not having to look at the calendar and not getting up in time to be 'somewhere'. I have said before my priority in life will change. Family, good friends and only a couple of my social groups will be important from now on. Several of the social groups i belonged too i dont think will reopen anyway As long as i am healthy, can go for walk to keep fit, i will chill as much as i can. I will miss having my shopping done for me too, dread the thought of stepping into a supermarket again.

Isn't it interesting how many of us are enjoying the lack of pressure at the minute. I am starting to feel more relaxed than I have felt for years. I will not be going back to things as they were. I'm enjoying how I feel.

Hattiehelga Thu 28-May-20 14:35:02

Probably the wonderful weather because I think the lack of pollution on the roads and industry not operating has given us this bonus. I wonder if the grey skies will return when they do ?

I will miss the social distancing. I was doing that way before it became fashionable?. But, like others, I will miss the peace and quiet, the new patience that most people seem to have adopted, the clearer air, the birdsong and the sunshine because you bet your bottom dollar the minute it is over the weather will turn!!!

Theoddbird Thu 28-May-20 14:42:57

My life hasn't changed really. I have learnt a lot which I will carry forward. I also discovered the joy of cluck and collect so will carry on with that.

We havent lock down, but I will miss not having to rush to apointments, and not having "must do " things, otherwise life will carry on much as it does now for us.
One thing I wont miss are the travel restrictions,I am longing to get to the UK.When can I fly?

Candy6 Thu 28-May-20 17:08:13

My son and husband when they go back to work. I retired early due to my son’s ill health and thought it was what I wanted at the time. Been having difficulty finding something else and I imagine it’ll be worse now there’s a recession. Will need to get my life sorted.

c6girls Thu 28-May-20 17:49:26
