Just that really.

First pictures of the Queen outside since she went in to lockdown at Windsor Castle.

Out riding on a pony this weekend, enjoying the sunny weather.

Not bad at 94.

If I had to choose who was bitter or nasty on this thread it would not be Paddyanne

Bluekitchen192 Tue 02-Jun-20 14:05:58

Resentment surfaces often on this thread. Tall poppy syndrome. Not everyone is equal.

GreenGran I saw them too, it was lovely. They were holding hands and had a little kiss.
I hope they can have a proper celebration and some hugs from their family before too long.

Callistemon Tue 02-Jun-20 14:29:13

trisher if you can get to Lidl in Greek week they sell Cretan olive oil and other goodies.
I'm drizzling it on my salads. Lovely.

The soap I'm using came from Elounda a couple of years ago.

I'm sure the Queen has had the very best in healthcare - but that didn't help her father; he was about fifty two when he died. That said, I don't suppose his smoking habit helped much either!

Callistemon Thanks, wish I could have Greek hospitality as well!!!
JMarion wherever did you get the idea that education leads to wealth? If there is one thing I hope we have learned from this crisis it would be that monetary recompense seldom matches the value of the work done. Without the carers, cleaners and support staff the hospitals wouldn't have functioned and they are amongst the lowest paid. Nurses seldom earn huge sums. And even senior doctors don't make what bankers do.
Just because something is difficult to achieve, or even impossible it doesn't mean you shouldn't try to do it. Poverty is an evil we should have eradicated long ago instead the numbers of children living in poverty is increasing and that can't be right.

Lidl have a variety of olive oils on offer this week. We hovered between the Greek and Italian for quite a few minutes. Not quite the same as sitting in a restaurant on a warm night listening to the crickets.

Communism doesn’t work at all because the more equal pigs trample the other pigs out of the way murdering and making dissenters “disappear”.

Much prefer to have the monarchy, flaws and all, than a politically appointed figurehead whose clawed their way to the top. Almost without fail the presidents then position their own children to inherit the riches and titles they’ve acquired.

I scroll past the posts of the eternally angry mob. Read one and you’ve read them all. Tedious and boring in their repetitiveness.

HannahLoisLuke Tue 02-Jun-20 15:10:01

I think the Queen is great, and before lockdown was completing nearly 400 engagements a year. I'd be bored stupid but she does it with grace and interest. Great that she can still ride out, wish I could but I do wish she'd wear a hard hat.

On the whole JMarion is right. Better educated people usually earn more than those who have not had much education, footballers and actors and singers apart.
Talking about homeopathy, it is a stupid idea. One drop of a homeopathic remedy in a swimming pool is enough to cure you of almost anything!!! How weird is that! The BMA debunk it completely. My neighbour believed in it and went to a homeopath for many years and drank his prescriptions. She paid a lot for each visit and for the prescriptions. When he died and she could no longer see him, she saved a lot of money and is no less healthy than she was before.

Bankers make more money than doctors, doctors make more
money than plumbers, plumbers make more money than bus
drivers, .

Annaram1 Tue 02-Jun-20 15:45:28

By the way, Harry fell in love with Megan and she with him. People who complain about his choice should go back to the bad old days when the aristocracy arranged their marriages with other titled people. I think the H and M love story is lovely. They did not have to get married and they must have known that people would criticise, especially racists.

My mother was a single parent, lived a healthy, active life to the age of ninety. We never had any money, she worked incredibly hard to pay for me to go to Grammar School, three jobs at a time, you don't have to be rich and privileged to be out and about at ninety four, sick of the sour grapes from the odd poster!

trisher Tue 02-Jun-20 15:55:02

Anniebach I wouldn't be certain about those statements some plumbers make a lot more than some doctors. As for the bankers well everyone knows how essential they are to keep society running hmm.
Annaramia lot of very highly educated people work in the public sector and certainly don't earn more than some people with a lot less education.
It's not Communism to think that those providing valuable services should be properly rewarded.
a politically appointed figurehead whose clawed their way to the top. Almost without fail the presidents then position their own children to inherit the riches and titles they’ve acquired
Much as our Royal Family have!

Anniebach Tue 02-Jun-20 16:01:32

The Queen did not claw her way to the top, like her father it fell to them , they didn’t campaign, have a huge campaign
team, they were ‘just born’

trisher Tue 02-Jun-20 16:05:00

They inherited Annie the 'clawing' was some time ago. It involved killing anyone who had a better or equal claim.

Anniebach Tue 02-Jun-20 16:11:46

trisher. My g g g grandmother’s cousin was transported
to Australia,

Oldwoman70 Tue 02-Jun-20 16:15:26

Wow - when was the last time an English monarch killed someone to inherit the throne?

My ancestors were dock workers who would have worked on unloading ships for slave traders (not unloading slaves - just goods bought with the money from the sale of those unfortunate people) - does that mean I am responsible for their actions? (although at the time they were merely trying to earn enough money to feed their families)

oldgimmer1 Tue 02-Jun-20 17:06:46

Oldwoman I think it was Henry 7th. Killed Richard 111 at Bosworth.

Greciangirl Tue 02-Jun-20 17:06:52

Trisher.
What you say makes a lot of sense.

I am going to order that book and brush up on a bit of history.

Anniebach Tue 02-Jun-20 17:23:50

Henry 7th ? The Queen should hang her head in shame

BlueSky Tue 02-Jun-20 17:46:22

Surely the Queen is not the only nonagenarian still fit and active?

Bluecat Tue 02-Jun-20 18:30:06

Judging by all the name-calling, there are some rude people on here and they are not the republicans.

Oldwoman70 Tue 02-Jun-20 18:42:02

Henry VII ! Well that was only over 500 years ago so of course republicans hold the Queen responsible!

Anniebach Tue 02-Jun-20 18:42:55

Judging posters ?

Sparklefizz Tue 02-Jun-20 19:19:35

SaraC I use a great deal of homeopathy too and have read that both the Queen and Prince Charles use it. I have heard that both of them always travel with a full kit of homeopathic remedies.
