Their wealth and income did get them the best medical care. According to "The Crown" her father had a lung removed. How many people could have such treatment in the 1940s? Of course there are exceptions to the rule but more affluent people generally live longer lives. Poverty kills.

Interesting read. The queen and Charles always travel with a doctor. The very fact of knowing you are so well cared for for would lessen the stress of taking ill tremendously. Stress is a big factor in illness. None of us have this level of health care.

Rosina it was common practice in those days for doctors to suggest smoking as a way to calm the nerves. King George VI, as we know, was a nervous public speaker because of his stammer. My MIL's GP suggested she took up smoking when my FIL was missing on WW2. Thankfully she did give up several years later.

My daughter knows the physician to the royal family when they are at Balmoral and he certainly isn’t kicking his heels in the heather around the castle. He’s busy working in the NHS, the same as any other doctor.

If Prince Charles had had a severe case of Covid nothing and nobody could have save him, regardless of who he was.

So Buck House and 2 fee paying schools have their own GP surgeries whilst others in the country struggle to register with a GP or have problems getting an appointment with a GP. and there are still some people saying privilege is OK? Really?!!!

I cannot understand the desire to replace a benign, relatively inexpensive monarchical system , admired around the world with a presidential system at probably greater cost.
The monarchy performs its functions supremely well without interference in our politics although sometimes I do wish HM would!

If HM has private healthcare I presume this is paid for by private money as do many ther people.

It is reported that the royal family only use the NHS in an emergency, otherwise their healthcare is privately funded.

I suppose that is wrong too, as Gransnetters have found if the dared to admit such a thing on here.

Calistemon do you think that the President's household staff would have special healthcare as well? Because that's what is happening at Buck House. I would have no problem with a private doctor touring with the Queen, but an RN doctor? If she wants special care she should pay for it.

Of the Queen. She’s done an ok job at what she had to do but was well looked after along the way. I definitely don’t feel any actual love for her as I don’t know her !

Yes I'm sure a President would have every luxury he or she demanded and the taxpayer would be expected to pay for everything. In addition hey may not have any private wealth therefore their private life would be paid for by the taxpayer too.

RN doctors - they look after families of RN personnel too.

Admiration is what feel. She has done a sterling job.

I doubt any president could have done half as well and the frequent changes and upheavals would be disturbing in a constantly changing world.
I like the thread that runs through, the continuity, the sense of stability despite changes of government.
