Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea .
Yesterday evening we watched the world's biggest container ship sail down the Estuary on it's way back to Singapore. It was huge, and there were a lot of people taking pictures. After we got home we could see it go out into the North Sea from our lounge window.
Nothing planned today. I have a pile of ironing that needs doing, a jigsaw to be getting on with and I may watch an episode of The Crown, I'm on Series 2 at the moment.
Have a lovely day and stay safe everyone xx

Urmstongran Tue 16-Jun-20 08:25:14

Fantastic news Marydoll! We will all be sitting in the virtual waiting room on Monday, wishing you well. x

Susan56 Tue 16-Jun-20 08:25:28

Good morning from the Shropshire borders where another day of storms and rain is forecast. At least the water butts are full now!

We are taking the car to be serviced this morning. We haven’t been anywhere apart from visiting family since lockdown so am feeling slightly nervous.

I am trying to pluck up the courage to go to the supermarket.Won’t be today. We really don’t need a delivery every week so am hoping a delivery one week and then just a top up shop for milk, bread and veg the second week.Apparently the local Lidl is very quiet around 6pm so when I feel brave enough that is where I shall go?

Wishing everyone the best day possible today.

Did you hug that unusual tree NannyTopsy ??

Susan56 Tue 16-Jun-20 08:29:01

Good news Marydoll.x

Greyduster Tue 16-Jun-20 08:31:32

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a grey but dry South Yorkshire. Not going far today; I have a pile of ironing to tackle and DH is cleaning the car so he won’t want to let me take it out and get it dirty again! I wish the library was open - I hate reading books on Kindle - but whether I would have the courage to use it is another matter! Have a good safe day folks.

Good Morning from a dull and foggy Fife. Another miserable day here. Marydoll - such good news, bet you've been running about living room jumping with joy wink Had a sleep last night so did DH. Another quiet day for me. Hoping today is good for all Take care.

Good morning Mick and all. It's a very grey day up here in the north but when I got woke up my bedside Amazon Alexa Show device was showing 19 degrees! I had a pretty stressful afternoon yesterday installing a new BT hub to accommodate switching me to a "super-duper" fast fibre broadband which I didn't ask for but the old system is shutting down in our area so I had to go with it. However I managed to get it sorted including changing the settings for the TV and was quite proud of myself but of course forgot the Alexa is connected to broadband and that was what caused it to go haywire (it is now 12 degrees here) so had to deal with that this morning. I am now having a strong cup of coffee and going to join the many who will be wishing "Marydoll" well for her hospital visit next Monday. It will be a long week for her and all our thoughts will be with her and I can well imagine how anxious the family will be. Coffee now doing the trick and going to make the most of today after losing yesterday due to brain fog. Can't believe 30yrs ago I had the first stand alone computer installed for me in a busy accountancy practice and after a short course just loved it. Yesterday's experience with BT showed just how much I have slowed down!!

Good morning all. It's overcast and heavy here in Central Scotland. I've had a quick walk this morning and now I'm waiting for the fish man who toot about nine. Then I'll take some fish and chocolate muffins which I made yesterday to my daughter and grandson this afternoon. He's 16 months and is adorable but always on the go! It'll be nice to see them. A WhatsApp video chat with friends later on and that's my day planned. I'm doing a Cross stitch Christmas decoration so I'll do some of that. Have a decent day everyone.

Nannytopsy Tue 16-Jun-20 08:46:41

Yes Beechnut! 7 year old DGS gets grandpa’s jokes but DGD (4) saw the obvious, a grandpa who wasn’t hiding! Good luck for Monday Marydoll.
I have just heard our cuckoo again smile

Good morning from an overcast NE.
The weather improved yesterday, went from fog to full sun but too late to enjoy being out and about.
We have a click and collect at Sainsburys today with only one substitution and an apology for a short date on the melon, not a problem they will be eaten this afternoon.
Life seems to have returned to normal around here except for the school in the next street, not seen any pupils yet.
Take care everyone.

gillybob Tue 16-Jun-20 08:50:41

Good morning from the NE coast where we have another miserable, grey day on the cards .

I’ve got Evie Buttons today and have an appointment for her to get measured for some desperately needed “noo shoos” .

A little spark of good news yesterday when I received an email from the Pension Regulator saying that “having taken into consideration my evidence etc.” they are cancelling my penalty and £400 fine ! All thanks go to GrandmaFrench who pushed me into sending a huge pile of evidence proving that my DH was critically ill at the time and my mind “wasn’t quite in the job” I was worn down and about to give up and pay the fine on my Credit Card but she insisted I go for a further appeal and review . Thank you again wonderful lady smile

Glad to hear that you are going to be having your treatment soon Marydoll I look forward to hearing that you are feeling much better. smile

Keep enjoying the sunshine Urms . I do wish you could send some over here, where it’s cold, dark and damp .

I love watching the huge ships going in and out of The Tyne Sar53 it amazes me how some of them manage to stay afloat and those huge containers piled up look like they could topple in the slightest swell don’t they ? My DH has an app on his iPad and gives me the full low down on everything due in and out grin

I hope everyone has as good a Tuesday as possible .
With love Gillybob x

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Mythbirtthedragon Tue 16-Jun-20 08:59:38

Good morning from east London, sunny and warm today; if it’s like yesterday, the predicted rain won’t appear. Garden shed is finished but don’t think DP would appreciate launching it with a bottle of fizz. Next step is having the trees pruned (we disagree on how much, I’ll be shouting ‘more, more’ while he tries to gag me). We’ll let the experts decide and then we may get the lawn back. May do a food shop today and have a walk later. Have a good day.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 16-Jun-20 09:06:15

Morning all from an overcast but warmish South Notts. Great to hear good news for gillybob and Marydoll and hope this continues. Basically it's good to be alive but sometimes these trials and tribs can wear you down.

Nothing much to report here. I'll continue with reading and sewing which I love. I must get on with the neglected housework though as I may get a visit today from my sister but I can't recall if she is allowed in the house yet - I expect she will remind me as and when.

Hope all is well with everyone.

GrannySomerset Tue 16-Jun-20 09:09:13

What an excellent morning, with good news from Marydoll and Gillybob. Couldn’t be more pleased for both though we will all be anxious until we know that Marydoll is OK.

Sticky but sunny morning in North Somerset. Wonderful cleaner is at work so must get DH ready to face the day, though no idea what to do with it. Am desperate for some stimulating company - DH can no longer supply it - so might ask next door neighbours in for a cup of tea in the garden.

Puzzler61 Tue 16-Jun-20 09:11:10

Bravo gillybobs for the u-turn by the Pensions Regulator. You have been due some Good Luck for a long time now ?
Persistence does pay off (most times). ? for you.

EllanVannin Tue 16-Jun-20 09:11:43

Good Morning All x
Again, for the 3rd day yesterday, we ended with heavy storm clouds and rainbows too. Very muggy and still so no breeze to take it out to sea. I'm not very partial to this weather at all sad
Anyway, it didn't amount to anything but it's remaining to hang around today !

More moaning---I was also up and down like a fiddlers elbow last night and couldn't settle at all. I rarely look at the time when I have one of these nights as it only worsens things. A thousand and one things going through my mind.

Just the fruit and veg shop today. I fancy a fresh fruit salad. At the moment I'm wading through a galia melon ( with ginger on it ) and it's lovely to keep the mouth fresh so extra fruit would go nicely with it, after a salad of course.

Speaking of fruit, I have lovely memories of Spain and their huge oranges, the like I've never tasted since. I don't know if you're an orange lover Urmston but they were the best on earth, my friend and we really made a meal of them, sitting on the sea wall covered in juice smile They were even sliced in the hotel salads. However, make the most of your lovely stay x

I actually heard a plane yesterday for the first time for ages. May have just been a local flight with the mushrooms aboard coming from Ireland, included with the passengers.

How sad that two of our citizens arrived in NZ carrying the virus. Australia has closed us ( UK ) off until September so perhaps NZ should have erred on the side of caution too. We can carry the damn thing and not show any symptoms ourselves. It's hanging around like a bad smell.

Hoping to get the hoover on the carpets today if the cats get out of the way, as they're scared of it. I've noticed one or two clumps of fur from the part-Persian cat as she grooms herself. It's about all I'll be doing in the way of housework grin

Take great care everyone and remain safe however you spend the time. xx

Good morning Mick and all x

Blue sky here just up the estuary from Sar53 I am being a lazybones, reading GN still in bed!!

Marydoll good news that your treatment is going to start, I expect you are overjoyed but with a niggle of nerves ?

Gillybob finally something in your favour, enjoy your day with little Evie, the excitement of noo shoos is a big adventure for a little 2 yr old.

I am watching the Salisbury Poisonings didn't intend to, but I am really enjoying it.

Nothing planned, as I finished the ironing mountain yesterday, and I have my cleaner tomorrow so it will be a pottering day.

I have had notification from my gym on their Covid precautions and reopening date (unless Government guidelines change if we have a rise in the R) I feel nervous but I know that I have to put on my big girl pants and slowly get back to the new normal

Enjoy your LWW Urmstongran , mines a nice crisp cold cava please ?

scentia I feel, exhausted just reading your posts, you are such a busy lady.

Keep safe and well folks.

Good Morning Everyone - pretty hot here, but some clouds have appeared in the S of France. Are we downhearted? Mais non!

Loved that salad recipe Beechnut. Very tempted as I have all the ingredients - although my pomegranates are only flowers at the moment ?; but would have to remove red onion from mine. Love it, but the aftertaste........yuk. I’d have to use ras el hanout for the spice, but no major taste difference I should imagine. We’re still working through 6 bottles of Sainsbury’s balsamic glaze, bought in the UK back in the day when travel was permitted! Little treats!

Today I need to contact the most wonderful English florist and order 2 posies for Nursing angels who cared for my Mum until a year ago this week. Want to mark the occasion and remember how upset they all were. A French friend - my dear cleaning lady for 10 years in Normandy - must have birthday flowers ordered too. Flowers are so important here - even small villages have a florist or 2. Also dog groomers and endless hairdressers.?

Speaking as a Covid-anxious Annie, Susan don’t be be too worried to take those first steps. Go when it’s not that important, so if you see problems you can go home. Fear for me, when caused by the bad behaviour of others, always makes me angry and then makes my DH quite concerned as to what I might say or do....?. But I was alone last week when I was forced to tell a woman what I thought of her selfish actions. Not something I really want to do, being an immigrant. But I’d so longed for my first browse through the garden centre. All staff were in masks, customers in masks, a huge sign in the middle of the entrance actually saying masks were obligatory, when she appeared near me without one. The only person! Anger and disappointment is always going to spoil the day, but I wasn’t going to ignore her and just seethe, like everyone else!

I almost fell over when after my telling off, the b&#*h (with a face like an angry weasel) actually fished in her bag for one and put it on! FGS ! ?

So, big important day Monday, Marydoll. Now you HAVE to stay safe and well until then. We’ll all be on thorns for your post Monday novella.

And now I’m really going to start the day, which I’ve been threatening to do for too long this morning. Happy day to everyone and positive thoughts to you all, especially if you’re sad, anxious or in pain.

Hugs ??? ☕️

Delighted with your news Gillybob. x About time you had some luck, it's well overdue.

dragonfly46 Tue 16-Jun-20 09:15:30

Great news Gilly it is wonderful when us grans can help each other out. You are a star Grandmafrench.

Susan56 Tue 16-Jun-20 09:24:02

Thank you for the advice Grandmafrench.Thats a really good idea.I may pop into Lidl on the way home from the garage. We don’t need anything but as you say then it won’t matter if I feel I need to leave.

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 16-Jun-20 09:24:29

Good morning everyone from a beautiful Oxfordshire, warm and sunny but a bit damp underfoot after the torrential rain yesterday evening which has flattened the veg and knocked most of the Petals from the flowers, still it was much needed.
Have a good day everyone and best wishes to all who have troubles.

Nortsat Tue 16-Jun-20 09:25:10

Good Morning Mick and the GM team, from a sunny east London.

I have put pork, vegetables and red wine in the slow cooker, but it may be too hot for that today. We may end up with pizza and salad for supper tonight...

I love Beechnut’s Middle Eastern Salad. I have chick peas and cous cous in the cupboard but would need baharat (I have never used it) and a pomegranate. I will add those to my grocery list and try the salad next week.

We have been watching the Salisbury Poisonings too. It’s interesting because it happened so recently and we all remember it. I like the fact that it is taken from the point of view of the Director of Public Health and that she is shown as a woman rising very competently to the challenge but sometimes feeling overwhelmed. It rings true, to me ...

Gilly I share the fascination with large container ships. We were once on a ferry going to the Isle of Wight and an absolutely huge container ship passed us. I watched it, mesmerised. My partner missed the whole thing, he went to the loo and then to get us a coffee. By the time he arrived back, the gargantuan vessel had passed !

Have a good day all and special good wishes to those who need them. ?
