Good morning everyone,

It's a rather dull, grey morning here in South Yorkshire. I haven't checked the forecast yet so not sure if it's set in for the day or will brighten up like yesterday.

That's excellent news, gillybob and so kind of grandmafrench to advise you. It's about time you had some positive news coming your way. Another plus is being able to see little Evie and to take her for some "noo shoos". ?

Marydoll, good news for you, too. I'm sure all GN's here will have everything crossed for you on Monday.

I've just had an enjoyable 10 minutes watching the fledgling sparrows lined up on the fence waiting for their parents to return with seed from the feeders. I'm sure they are now bigger than their parents! They are so amusing to watch, fluttering their wings, beaks wide open as if to say " come on, hurry up, feed me"!?

Today I plan to put on the next coat of wood
protector/varnish on the wheelbarrow planter. It looks a bit patchy with just the one coat as the wood seemed to just soak it in. I think it will need at least this one more coat, possibly a third. Still, it's keeping me out of mischief.

I might also venture out to the butcher for some fresh meat. The car really needs a run out, before I start the varnishing.

Take care and enjoy whatever plans you might have for today.

Good Morning to you all from a bright, sunny, dry & very warm N.,Cambs.,
dragonfly, belated Birthday wishes, sorry I'm late.
Long day out yesterday, (therefore no internet/wi-fi).

We went to N.W.Norfolk for the day, to our little "home-from-home", at the coast. There was a sea fret until lunchtime, then a lovely warm day, with a welcome breeze from the north sea in the Wash.

DH did his strimming & mowing, we did a bit of a tidy, (it was nearly 4 weeks since our last visit.)
On the way home, there was a sprinkling of rain, & a rainbow.
Hopefully next time we go we will be able to stay over, as is our usual routine in "normal" summers.

May I join the rest of you, thinking of Marydoll & wishing you well. flowers

Gillybob, nice to have a bit of good news for a change, so pleased for you. ( & well done Grandmafrench).

Take Care Folks.

Good Morning from Durham - another grey day, but it might brighten up, as it did yesterday.

Just a day of ‘jobbing on’ here - usually send ironing away, but getting used to doing it myself.
Chap due to cut grass today - there’s a lot of garden refuse here, but he doesn’t have a permit for ‘the tip’, so I’ll have to take it myself when it’s less manic. He’s a lovely young chap, but limits himself to grass cutting and tree pruning, but he’s been a Godsend, as illness prevents my DH doing it. I hate gardening and we’ve a biggish one - but I do the pots, tubs, hanging baskets, etc.

Not planning to dust off my credit card for the shops just yet - friend rang me at 8.30 yesterday morning to say she was on her way to MetroCentre with both her daughters and their children!! Glutton for punishment?

Pranged my car last night - my fault, no excuses!! Reversed into our wall!! Rang Keith’s bodyshop this morning to see if I can take it there, rather than go through insurance and he’s unexpectedly retired! Not important in the great scheme of things, so it’ll have to wait. Annoyed with myself though!

Hope everyone has a good day and Evie Buttons gets her shoes. I think my grandson George will need new ones soon - first day back at Nursery tomorrow - only been offered 2 days a week for now.

Good morning all.
I am not going to read and run this morning when there is better news to comment on.
Marydoll what a boost for you that your treatment is going ahead 3 months before you expected it and Gillybob some small victory for you, not before time.

I am very well apart from my hip and both knees stopping me from doing almost everything.
I cannot imagine how difficult life would be without my GD.
She does almost everything for me, I am so blessed with her in my life.

A very dull day here, looks like rain but still very warm.
Last night about 10:30, the rain was so loud, it was drowning out the noisy but necessary fan when to my absolute astonishment someone started a firework display, loud and very colourful.
“Nowt so queer as folk”
Have as good a day as you can folk and stay safe.

I've just sat down with a cup of tea, after doing a mammoth pile of ironing, to finish reading what everyone is up to today.
I'm sending very best wishes to Marydoll for Monday and a pat on the back to Grandmafrench for helping Gillybobs. I'm so pleased that there is a small ray of sunshine in your turbulent life. Enjoy your 'shop' with Evie x

Good morning to you all from a very grey Gower, total contrast to yesterday.

My visit to the coast yesterday wasn't the best visit I've ever had ?. As the weather was glorious there were far too many people around for a shielder like me. We didn't get out of the car, hey ho. We'll pick another day, perhaps when rain is forecast ?.
I'm not at all ? Urmstongran ?. If I'm honest I'm actually very pleased for you considering how difficult it was for you until recently ?

Marydoll, wonderful news that your treatment is scheduled for Monday. We will all be on tenterhooks and wishing you well ?. In the meantime please take extra care of yourself .

On gillybob fantastic news. I've been wondering how it was going with the Pension Regulator and had my fingers ? for you. You so deserved that outcome. Grandmafrench you're an absolute star ?.

Good to see you posting here again on *Mick's thread Susan. Your trip to pick should be okay if you go at a quiet time of day and only for one or two items that are not out and out needs.

Glad you had a pleasant birthday dragonfly ?

I will probably finish my jigsaw today as it's almost complete. I really want to dye my root hairs but maybe not today.

Take care everyone ❤️

Good Morning all from cloudy Harrogate (the weather hasn't made up it's mind quite which way it's going. Hope it remains dry - I have a wash to put out.
I have only got baking, sewing walking the dog and making meals today, much like a lot of days!

hollysteers Tue 16-Jun-20 11:40:56

Gluten Morgen, I’m the damp squib here, you all sound sensible and busy...I’m fed up and come back to bed with the cat. Worried about my son being furloughed and possible loss of job, my caravan site is closing down so that’s the end of my “second home” in the country, I have shingles on my left side, my cancer/statin medications affect me, I’m fed up being alone in this family house after being widowed and don’t enjoy the garden visiting messing about. I love my family staying, Every social activity and holiday, day trips stopped and after a good start at the beginning of lock down, clearing rooms, drawing etc, I’ve lost my mojo. Yes, it’s up to me to arrange things I know and I will, but for today, forget it..
Phew, feel better for that.

hollysteers Tue 16-Jun-20 11:42:17

Guten Morgen lol?

hollysteers Tue 16-Jun-20 11:50:03

And the freezer has packed up?

cornergran Tue 16-Jun-20 11:54:38

gilly I’m more than pleased for you.

Goodness Hollysteers no wonder you’re unhappy with the world. Pull the drawbridge up today, tomorrow will seem better. flowers.

Gelisajams Tue 16-Jun-20 11:57:50

Just catching up with all the posts after returning from my bike ride just ahead of torrential rain, which has put my plans for today on hold! It wasn’t supposed to come in till mid afternoon.
It’s really pleased me to read that Marydoll is getting her much needed treatment and Gilly has finally had some good news to report. Here’s hoping the tide in the NE has finally turned! Take care, stay safe.?

Lins1066 Tue 16-Jun-20 12:03:10

Good news Marydoll ?

Grammaretto Tue 16-Jun-20 12:10:16

Good morning, just, from the Scottish Borders. The 3rd day with this wretched Haar! It's warm but the sun is nowhere to be seen.

I am so pleased to hear that Marydoll is getting seen very soon. Yay!!!
I am also pleased that Gillybob is sounding 100% happier with some good outcomes.

I had to do yoga on the stone floor on my hall today as that was the only place I could get WiFi! I kept seeing the dirt when I should have been deeply meditating.

DH has a scan at the hospital today so that will be exciting/scary.
I hope the set up is better than the last visit when nobody was taking much notice of distancing or hand cleaning.

Stay safe everyone and enjoy your day.

Kalu Tue 16-Jun-20 12:19:20

Good morning from Glasgow. Internet was down and I feared a day without my connection to the world wouldn’t be possible, disaster!?. Anyhoo, it’s a bright grey day but warm and calm.

So pleased to hear all is in place for your long awaited treatment to go ahead on Monday Marydoll. Positive thoughts will be with you all the way.

Good news for you gilly and a huge well done Grandmafrench. GN at its best.

Such lovely news reading about those of you taking small steps giving you a bit of normality back.

Hope everyone has a pleasant day and best wishes for a better day to those of you who are struggling.

Marydoll Tue 16-Jun-20 12:20:40

hollysteers all of us on here have had days like yours and similar worries. Some things we can't change at the moment and have no control over them.
However, the trick is to try not to make it every day, or it will overwhelm us and drag us done even further.
I don't think there is anyone on this thread, who hasn't had some kind of wobble in the past three months.

I hope you feel better for find a listening ear and being able to unload her and that tomorrow is a better day for you. ?

Daisyboots Tue 16-Jun-20 12:48:21

I dont often post because its so late by the time I surface and have read the GM posts but today theres some good news.
Good news Marydoll that your treatment will be going ahead on Monday and I hope it will make such a difference for you.
Lovely to hear that the Pensions regulator has withdrawn that unfair fine gillybob . It must be a big relief for you. Grandmafrench you are a star with your advice. How lovely to be going 'noo shoes' shopping with your DGD Evie. That will be fun. I used to love that when mine were little.
Happy birthday for yesterday dragonfly46 flowers
flowers for you hollysteers as I know how you are feeling. I had an awful day at the hospital yesterday and was there for 6 hours instead of the usual 3 because of problems. I always feel bad on the day after but feel even worse today. But I try to feel positive by thinking tomorrow can be a better day.
Grandmafrench our Portuguese villages and towns are very much like yours in France and florists are always very busy and surprisingly much cheaper than in the UK. But then flowers arent sold in supermarkets here. As for hairdressers we have 4 in our village yet they all seem to be successful although they dont all employ others and just run the salon themselves.
Have a good day everyone.

Marydoll Tue 16-Jun-20 13:19:15

Thank you all for all your good wishes, they are very much appreciated.

I am apprehensive (as are my family) , going on past experiences with starting new medication, but I can't live like this any more! I WANT (stamping my feet) my life back!

Onward and upward and the bonus is that I will get out of the house after fourteen weeks of incarceration! I may even put on some make up, just in case my new consultant is a fine and handsome man!!! wink

Marydoll Tue 16-Jun-20 13:20:43

Oh I meant to add, Grandmafrench, you are an absolute ⭐, helping our Gilly.

mrswoo Tue 16-Jun-20 14:08:29

I'm very late posting but have had a bit of a hectic morning and have only just sat down to read this lovely thread.

* Marydoll* that's such good news about your hospital treatment. I'm sure we will all be thinking if you on monday.
Gillybob I'm so glad the Pensions Regulator has turned out to be human and has withdrawn the ludicrous fine - and well done grandmafrench for your help and advice.
Its dull here weatherwise but the good news on here today is a little ray of sunshine.
