The American woman is at it again. Not satisfied with destroying tea she's turned her attention to scrambled eggs grin

I can't make my mind up whether she's being serious or these are spoof cookery demonstrations.

Does anyone remember Delia telling us how to boil eggs? Not with sugar though grin

Callistemon Mon 22-Jun-20 10:30:18

vq she'll be better off than any of us, that's for sure, with her daft videos!

vampirequeen Mon 22-Jun-20 10:32:09

So true. That's why she makes them. Tbh I posted it to give everyone a laugh. Seems I've opened a massive can of worms

It isn't ridiculous, it's spot on- And considering your history, much doubt it will be the end of!

your history
confused

British history?
Gransnet history?

Callistemon Mon 22-Jun-20 10:34:36

They're very funny, vq, carry on.
My only reservation is that we're adding to her wealth but if it doesn't cost me anything that's fine.

I bet she didn't eat them herself, all that sugar and cream, not to mention the amount of salt for one egg!

My history

What do you know about my history?

vampirequeen Mon 22-Jun-20 10:44:44

Maybe she means English history rather than Scottish, Welsh or Irish history. After all a lot of people (including a lot of the English) think that England is the UK grin

Buffybee Mon 22-Jun-20 10:49:09

Well, I love America and the people are the most welcoming, polite and cheerful of any country I have visited.
Although, I have to agree the lady in the video is definitely not making 'British' eggs or tea correctly.

Have you ever watched those Facebook posts of "Five incredible food hacks" and so on? Someone demonstrates some wondrous combinations of ingredients, which are meant to pep up you meals ( most of them disgusting) or makes a series of what they call "simple" desserts, or some such thing, which magically produce results that you would pay pounds for in a restaurant.
A selection of these "hacks" were tested by professionals. They found that most of the videos were cheats. Some had invisible breaks in the action, where something essential and complicated had been done off camera that they omitted to mention. Others were potentially dangerous, or ended with pans irrevocably damaged. None of them got the results claimed.
I'd class her video with this - amusing, perhaps, but not "cooking". Made with one eye on click attraction. Both eyes. Not worth getting hot under the collar for, Rosecarmel. Are you a bit sensitive at the moment with all the slavery/Trump/trade-deals publicity showing some of the US in a bad light?

Chewbacca Mon 22-Jun-20 10:59:52

rosecarmel you've given me the best laugh today! Thanks for that!

I'm thinking of messaging the American woman to suggest she makes Scottish porridge, Welsh Laverbread and Irish Colcannon. Should be fun grin

MawB Mon 22-Jun-20 11:33:24

This thread is sinking into pure farce!
To think we have been told there will be no pantomimes this Christmas sad (cue “Oh yes there will!”) this is funnier than any.
I do not know what bee has got into what bonnet, but please god don’t anybody offer me tea or scrambled eggs à la YouTube - I will not be responsible for the consequences gringrin

The egg-making video is obviously a piss-take!

Where's our renowned sense of humour hmm

Welshwife Mon 22-Jun-20 11:47:54

She could also try Welshcakes! A most delicious item when home made - I never quite got the hang of doing them but my DiL makes great ones and sometimes even Glamorgan sausages!

Oopsminty Mon 22-Jun-20 11:59:57

Just seen this discussed on the Jeremy Vine show. They think it has to be a spoof but aren't sure!

The lady concerned actually lives in the UK

It's just not particularly funny though!

If she lives in the UK maybe she's taking the p out of her fellow Americans. A lot of them think we eat and drink weird stuff so maybe she's playing to that audience and hoping that some won't realise that she's winding them up and actually try her recipes. If an American takes the p out of other Americans does that mean she's an anti-American American or even anti-herself?

quizqueen Mon 22-Jun-20 12:30:21

She put in more salt than I would use in a month and probably my week's ration of sugar too. I would, however, cook scrambled eggs in the microwave as there's less mess afterwards.

Ugh, ugh, not laverbread!!

Welsh cakes, yes. Or Bara Brith
But Wales is in England, isn't it?

SueDonim Mon 22-Jun-20 15:12:36

She’s making these videos to wind people up! Looks like it’s working. grin

Callistemon Mon 22-Jun-20 15:21:42

Ive just watched the tea video and I think it's all very funny.

She's enraged the British whilst at the same time sending up American cuisine
grin

I also make scrambled eggs using my microwave but strangely I leave out cream and sugar. I do add cheese every time.

The only time I ever add sugar to anything is to strawberries with cream about twice a year. My teeth are still intact.

Callistemon....The English don't really hold with there being any other country in the UK. They don't really see Wales, Scotland and Ireland (North or South) as being countries in their own right. They're just large counties with some bolshie citizens....a bit like God's own country where I come from grin

I don't hate Americans, I have been to America many times and always found them really welcoming and those we met very nice. Now I've got that out of the way, they do put a strange spin on food, "French Toast" or eggy bread, well it isn't really French because I've never found it in France. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so that's peanut and jam to us and then salad bars also with jelly (jam) as one of the components of a salad??? There was also something called "English muffins" when I was there last, nothing particularly English about them imo, muffins were once crumpets over here when I was a kid. Then there's "grits" a sloppy semolina type substance alongside other breakfast fare like bacon, which is often ingested with Maple Syrup. Some restaurant tried to get us to try grits in South Carolina, we tactfully refused.

Now this! people over this side of the pond don't scramble their eggs this way shock

….it's not all bad though there is Key Lime Pie and Banana Cream Pie, food of the Gods imo.

Actually, it's what I get informed when I go to Australia!
'You from England?'
'Well, actually, I live in Wales'
'But that's in England, isn't it?' confused
