When was your last cuddle?

When did you last have a cuddle, and be held tight?
I was just thinking, I'd love my husband to hold me tight and make me feel safe from the world. He won't, not because he doesn't love me, he does, but because he's not a 'cuddles' person. Neither of us are physically demonstrative, we missed out on the cuddles as children, and grew up two damaged souls. Just occasionally, I really wish I could be held tight, not in a sexual way, but just a 'let go of all my worries', way, to feel that I don't have the world on my shoulders!

Granny wanny
What a lovely song. I will have that tune in my head all day!

I am not really a huggy person, not brought up to be. My darling husband sometimes gave me a hug but he's gone now. I occasionally get a hug from my son on special occasions, such as birthdays and Chr...mas. Not from my daughter, but occasionally from my grandchildren, also on special occasions.

Last night and every night. I can't understand love that doesn't was to be demonstrative. We all need cuddles.

DH isn't a cuddler either. If I hug him then he reciprocates but he never hugs me first. (Unless hes feeling frisky!! )

This morning shorts arri in the post fire my teenage son. He’s having a lie in so I put them in his room and went to leave and his big long arms came out of the bed for a big cuddle. He gives lovely tight hugs. DH and I hug every day and I must say I’d feel very lost without it. I hope you all get a hug very soon...

micky987 Fri 03-Jul-20 11:01:46

Sorry, arrived and for, not arri and fire lol

Bijou Fri 03-Jul-20 11:24:47

Real cuddle, 1987 the night before my husband died. We were very close. My son does embrace me but it is not the same.

I still have the odd cuddle with my husband as pass in the kitchen but since we bought an Adjustamatic bed (don't ever bother with them as they are soooo uncomfortable) we have a 6" void between us at night where the mattresses slip apart.
The cuddle I miss most is from my first born son. We have a big bear hug when he arrives and another as he leaves. He pointed out a couple of weeks ago that this is the longest time we have not been able to cuddle and he misses it too. He also said that he had assumed that when I was ready for my wooden overcoat that he would be grown up enough to handle it but this pandemic made him realise that he will always want my hugs. I pointed out I wasn't going anywhere yet but I was really touched.
My youngest son tolerates my hug when he is going away for any length of time but he is not a snuggle bug. My daughter would deck me if I so much as touched her; I gather she is more or less the same with her husband!

This morning with DH in the kitchen ! I just felt the need and was saying how I would hate not having someone to cuddle.

Marmite....I could have written your response.. Cuddles from GC & occasionally one or other of my sons, but not the reassuring, loving hug from my soul mate now no longer here.
It’s a good job we have lovely memories to hold on to.

I ask for hugs and over the years as a couple we hug more than we did. I sat down one day and said how much a hug means to me so we have learned to do things that now come naturally

SusieFlo Fri 03-Jul-20 12:28:49

Can’t remember!!!

I was bought up in a very tactile and huggy family, and I loved it. The man I married 50 years ago was from a family who couldn’t be more different. However, I’ve managed to knock him into shape and he will occasionally instigate a hug.

There’s an old saying that three cuddles a day are good for you - keep you happy, lift depression and therefore prolong your life! I take as many cuddles as possible from anyone, including the dogs?. You can even buy little wooden cuddles to send to nearest and dearest these days,

dirgni Fri 03-Jul-20 12:40:31

I don’t think that people were so demonstrative when I was growing up!

Stoker48 Fri 03-Jul-20 12:46:09

Thank you, Miss Adventure, for your honest reply. Could you explain why it makes you feel anxious? Would it be the same whoever it was that hugged you?

grandtanteJE65 Fri 03-Jul-20 13:05:44

A kiss and a hug every morning to say good morning.

Thinking back, I started it and if I hadn't DH probably would
have held back.

This is the second cuddle of the day, as the cat comes up into my bed for his morning cuddle, after he had had one from DH, who is always up first.

Purplepixie Fri 03-Jul-20 13:07:25

This morning from DH then just now from my youngest son. Ah I love cuddles just wished I could cuddle my 4 grand kids. The day will come.....

Willow500 Fri 03-Jul-20 13:23:00

Jan 28th when my son went back to NZ after Christmas - he is the only one of us who gives proper cuddles. Also their little boys as they said goodbye sad

Jennyluck Fri 03-Jul-20 13:42:57

We’re not a cuddly family either. Much to my regret. Both bought up that way. My daughter won’t let me cuddle her either. So I cuddle my gs.
But like everyone else, I’d love someone to give me a lovely big hug.

Kim19 Fri 03-Jul-20 13:56:19

Couple of weeks ago with GC when rules relaxed to permit this. Interestingly one bulldozed and the other resisted (and me irresistible!) and that was fine by me. Hugs are wonderful but not essential. Knowing the love is there is all. I have one son who hugs enthusiastically and the other one does a quick peck on the top of my head then moves back (in case I respond?!!). Vive la differance in any situation. I think we may have become OTT huggy in recent years. Not sure but it has entered my head sometimes before Covid, of course.

NanaPlenty Fri 03-Jul-20 14:12:59

We are an extremely highly family - lockdown has been extremely hard because of this. My hubby wasn’t so much of a hugger til he got involved with me? he will often give me a hug for no reason ?

Juicylucy Fri 03-Jul-20 14:18:18

Why are you waiting for him, just walk up to him open your arms and say I need a hug. Break that mould that you’ve told yourself we are not cuddly people.

Happysexagenarian Fri 03-Jul-20 14:47:57

This morning when I woke up, and every morning, usually accompanied by a lovely cup of tea made by DH. We often hug or kiss when our paths cross through the day. We also snuggle up on the sofa while watching TV. We treasure those special moments even more as we get older.
