Good Morning Tuesday

Love to everyone who is struggling, from North Cornwall today. Sky cloudy but no rain - so lovely.

Grandmafrench, it very nearly did split the family as my GD was castigated for not being a proper mother but sadly wasn't getting the help with the child when it was so badly needed especially during the times when the child's dad was ill, before he died.

We can honestly say that the family were let down in the past when my GD struggled on with a sick partner and a child who didn't know how to behave and who used to keep the other children awake at night with her tantrums and shouting. No wonder her mother had a breakdown and had to part with all the children in the end because she wasn't coping.

The 3 youngest are still in foster care and my D who is the children's nan, the mother of my GD ( mother of the children ) , are doing well. Three older ones are with my D who is coping well.
It has been remarked at how lovely the children are and well looked after----which they were until their dad became very ill and their mother, my GD, just folded.

GD had been staying with my step-D having counselling and various health visitors, but it's still early days as it's only been 4 months since her partner died.
Everything has been fast-tracked it's hardly given us any time to think straight at what's happened, though we feel very lucky that everyone from every direction pulled out all the stops----maybe realising that help should have been there a long time ago ?

It doesn't seem possible that one child can rock the boat so much as to cause a family explosion as she had done. It was like attention-seeking on a massive scale of destruction as well as fear for the younger ones safety with her. Yet butter wouldn't melt to those who didn't know her.

So yes, any treatment is definitely welcome before she eventually joins her siblings. She is medicated of course but to what extent we don't yet know ,as her mother will be told of this rather than grannies.

To me personally, it's as though the child would have been happier being " the only child ". She is fine with both my D and myself and very loving but we don't know and can't see how she is with others. We do know that the school she was attending here was no good for her because she was copying their behaviour which was bad and also constantly swearing so we've told the health visitors that we don't want her going back to that type of school.

Of course this virus hasn't helped, it appearing at the wrong time---if there is a wrong time for a virus.

It's the girl's 12th birthday on Sunday so D and the children and their mother will be heading off to see her. That'll be 4 birthdays that I've missed seeing the children this year. Another one next month which I'll also miss. Don't know about November yet.

Good Morning all from grey Harrogate, at least it's dry and very soon I shall be putting a wash out, then baking biscuits until lunch time. After lunch we'll take the dog out, then I shall have to figure out another way of using up Sunday's Gammon joint for this evening! Probably cook it with pasta and sauce!

Grandmafrench lady after my on heart, I hate ironing & will do almost anything except clean the oven to avoid doing it.

As I've got as far as I can paining my Lounge until DD can come & help me move some furniture today is putting things back in their proper places & housework.

Weather is unpredictabele, cloudy, windy but warm & sun is trying to fight it's way through.

Lovely to be able to follow your news via DD, Ellan. Whilst it's far from ideal that a family has to be separated and sent on outward bound journeys just in order to keep in touch and be a family, it must be something of a relief that finally action has been taken, there seems to be a plan and she has a diagnosis. All that must be a great relief.

After the 3 months, hopefully you will all have some of the tools to deal with the ongoing difficulties. All the time she is "under treatment/surveillance" now will hopefully stand her in good stead, allow her to learn to find some focus, give her some peace of mind whilst she grows and - please god - becomes manageable enough not to tear your family apart.

You all need to get something out of this. It's started and you must be so relieved. Yes, it probably does cost a fortune but think how many people need and are waiting for such help. Funding needs to stop being wasted and funnelled to the places where it is so badly needed. Wishing your little one and her Mum so much better than they have had and a better, more peaceful life which you all need.

Yes am enjoying the weather but it got a bit silly yesterday at 35 in the shade. No point in being burnt to a crisp one day when we get 300 days of sunshine a year ! Today I am ironing.....which is precisely why I keep posting on this thread!!

Our DD2 lives in Harrogate-as you say a lovely town-although The Stray was badly damaged after heavy rain before the Tour de Yorkshire. Can’t imagine when we’ll ever see her, her DH and 2DGC ever again! Her DHworks with Covid patients so we feel we have to keep away from him.

Another day of heavy cloud and I think we have it for the rest of the week according to the forecast. Although it's not cold, it feels it because it's dull.

Had a visit from D yesterday morning after she'd dropped the children off for school so it was an all day job catching up with everything until it was time to collect them at home-time.

D had got a phone-call on Friday afternoon to say that the child who was in the Lakes had been taken to Darlington to another privately run therapy residential home and will be there for 3 months. We knew that the Lakes was for 28 days but had been slightly extended, possibly because a vacancy became available in Darlington. We believe that there are 7 children in this place whereas there were only two at the one in the Lakes. Another country area in pleasant surrounds.

Her diagnosis is autism though she doesn't show all the signs that they'd expected, but as I've said before, her memory is " faulty " which is why she hasn't/isn't learning anything because nothing's sinking in so at this place they'll be focussing more on education although they still have the usual psychologists/psychotherapists in-situ.

This is over a 2 and a half hour journey for D now and one which she'll have to do or the child won't see anyone.
This is the 5th or 6th move since the beginning of March and although we think it unacceptable, we're also grateful that those in charge of her mental health have treated her as an individual and have shown concern when there are many who are in need of such help, on waiting lists.

It doesn't make things any easier for us though thinking she's there further away.

I couldn't put my mind to anything else much for the rest of yesterday. What happens after the 3 months we don't know !
Anyway, she's safe in a lovely place with plenty of trained staff---and it will be costing this council a fortune most likely or whoever funds these places as they're like hotels .

I notice a few of you aren't feeling so clever . I think that the state of the nation is getting on everyone's nerves now, coupled with the poor weather.
However, Urmston,Pantglas,Grandmafrench and Bellasnana won't be complaining about the weather Enjoy it, that's all I can say.

I don't blame Mick for looking forward to going to Harrogate. I loved the place years ago when dad used to take me to toy fairs held in February I think for the following Christmas. Then someone mentioned Betty's tea rooms which friend and I visited on a few occasions plus the fabulous floral displays in the town. You'll enjoy the place Mick, lovely eateries, just a nice place.

Love buzzards, NannyT we had a buzzard tree in our field - so high, but dangerous and we eventually had to lop it. The arborists then showed us it was almost 80% hollow! When there’s a group of birds circling ? above the countryside, the calling that you hear is the young communicating with the parents, apparently! I saved two which had concussed themselves - carried them to safety and later released them. They are big - and have fearsome talons....I do own a thick and hefty pair of leather gauntlets, though. ?

After all the patience and time DH spent constructing the greenhouse we have discovered the door, the last piece to put into place, isn’t a good fit. Sod’s law and back to the drawing board.

We have a mountain of cardboard in the garage which I will flatten today ready for a trip booked for the tip. Deep joy!

This morning the bin men came as usual, but didn't replace our black recycling bin, so had to go in search of it. Turns out it was only next door, but hidden by her big car. Why can't bins be put back from where they have been taken? It does have big painted house numbers on each side.
Had a lovely day with a friend from long ago work days, yesterday. She stayed for about three hours and we had such a lovely catch up in the garden with coffee.

This morning I am expecting a couple of Freecyclers to collect things. Doesn't it make a difference when the people requesting an item, do so politely?
Hoping that Marydoll is feeling a bit stronger today, and that Gillybob, gets her order.

Maw I hope the vet gives you good news about poor Hattie. Our cat Ollie had a urinary infection a month or so ago. He had blood in his urine too, which was really worrying. Metacam sorted him out but it took a little while. He’s fine now but it’s such a worry when they’re ill.

My digestion is quite upset, by the mix of meds I have to take, so an easy day for me.

I heard from HMRC that I am due a tax rebate of £685. Yay! But I had to log on and go through quite a rigmarole to prove my identity and request the rebate.
It’s their error, but I have to request my money back. Of course nowhere in their lengthy letter is there an apology for over taxing me, in the first place.
It was still a nice surprise. I’ll put it in my savings account until I find something I need/want to spend it on.

As I am shielding I can’t imagine having any holidays this year. Those we had booked are of course cancelled.

We’re watching an interesting three part series on BBC4 called ‘Being Beethoven’. The poor man had an awful life and wrote such beautiful music. It’s very interesting because as well as musicologists talking about his life and work, musicians and conductors who actually perform his music also comment and there’s a psychologist offering some analysis.

Went out last night to see if I could spot the comet, no luck, but DS had posted photographs he had taken the night before.
He drove into Weardale whereas we are on the edge of town with lots of street lights.
Sorry to say Urmston that I find the doll creepy too but each to their own.
Had a long chat with my widowed sister yesterday, she is managing way better than I thought she would. She has all her paperwork sorted and everything is in order, something I could not see myself doing in four weeks.

Sadly he has had it so long that while the ulcer starts to improve, something will upset the rest of the skin on his leg and off we go again. He has allergic reactions to many of the products used. They find a good arrangement and then the manufacturers “improve” something!
The day is brightening up here in Suffolk and I can hear the buzzards.

Waiting in for new garden furniture to be delivered and then a walk to find a local "mask tree" to buy masks for shopping. We have one each but will need more now and the money goes to charity.

Good Morning everyone from the French Med', where it's a little cooler (it's still early!) and there's a breeze.

With the cooler morning comes my inability to avoid the ironing pile! There's 2 of us - who actually wears these clothes? Must do some this morning. DH off to buy a pump (another necessary pool thing - ours is not working properly).

Bit sad that there will be so few Bastille celebrations possible. Normally we would look forward to an evening in the Port, supper and wine in the sunset and sharing tables with friends and strangers. Then when the darkness finally arrives, the music starts along with the fireworks - almost half an hour of spectacular displays over the water ....fireworks getting bigger, more elaborate and louder every minute. All controlled by computer. From the deck of our friends' boat, the display is almost over our heads and like a re-make of Star Wars ! We can also see miles along the coast to other villages in the distance where similar displays are visible. Such wonderful times to share. We pay - a lot - in local taxes but a fair bit is spent on entertainment and facilities for the residents, so the fun is not usually begrudged.

So pleased to hear about the masks. At. Long. Last. It won't be properly policed, I'm sure, and people won't be fined - but worth it. Everything possible should be done by everyone to prevent the infections increasing.

You seem to be in the right mindset, Marydoll. Try to sit it out - it will get better, you'll see, and you'll be back on top of your game again and in Novella mode!! Hope little Hattie is more perky today, MawB; and that the DD's of Scentia and Kitty are feeling stronger.

Gingster. I need to say I have medals for cowardice and so our lovely comfortable electric scooter is driven locally and very slowly. We move at the kind of speed which would leave old gents in bathchairs, pushchair controllers, and ancient milk floats aghast.

NannyT just in case I can get some helpful info, I am going to ask those who cared for my Mum when she had a leg ulcer, how they managed to cure something that we were all told would be permanent. If they have any good suggestions, I'll pass the info onto you.

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a bright start to Tuesday .

We didn’t manage to secure a order yesterday Susan56 but we haven’t had a definite “no” either so there’s still a little hope.

I was at “that place” until almost 6pm yesterday and then went straight to DD’s to “help her” fit a new bath panel. Ended up giving her bathroom a thorough clean and stayed until little Miss Buttons was ready for bed .

My DDiL has a lovely memory bear Urmstongran made after her beloved grandfather passed away .

I had a similar “Happy Memories” bear made for my DD for her first Mother’s Day . We used all Evie’s little first baby-gro’s and bibs. It’s so sweet.

Off to “that place” in half an hour . Will see what excitement today brings .

Glad to see you back Bellasnana . Thinking of BlueSapphire, CrazyH’s grandson and anyone else with worries or poorlinesses.

Had a lovely Clanging session in teachers garden yesterday. The sun shone and we had fun . Lovely coffee and walnut cake too. Simple pleasures. ☺️

I’m not sure about the memory dolls, Urmstongran. It sound a lovely idea but dont think I would want one. ?.

I find having a new TV a nightmare. We couldn’t set ours up and after many hours, called our son who did it 10 mins. Just not the right generation for all this technology. I used my DVD player the first time with new TV and lost the Tv channels. ?. I’m frightened to use the DVD player now. I just want to plug it in and switch on. Simples! Too clever for its own good. kittylester hope you have more luck. Do get the man to set it up for you.
