Doodlegrin

Still walking, although I suppose tomorrow will be judgement day!
Sight pain in my upper back, sort of the back side of where my ribs are, iykwim?I

Knees together, currently not a problem!

Although, without wishing to boast, Lyn, the nurse at our GP surgery is often impressed with the ability with which I can "adopt the position" for a smear test, ankles together, knees apart! On a good day, I can get them practically flat on the couch! (The knees, that is blush)

Now if you’d done that last week phoenix you could have joined us all in the Argy for our Friday night Western themed barn dance. I arrived on Dobbin curtesy of Farmer Giles. ?
Please post again tomorrow to let me know if you can still walk and whether or not you can get your knees back together ? but other than that, well done you.

Oh, lucky you, Phoenix! I'm very jealous. It's years since I've been on a horse and never one of my own. I still feel cautiously comfortable around horses. I was never much good, mind you, my forté being falling off at anything faster than a trot rather than dressage!

Bluesky I would only qualify one one count!

Phoenix thought you joined Tinder for the Elderly and Beautiful! grinwink

Still walking, grannylyn65! But feeling a bit "twingy" in my back.

As we led the horses out I had a bit of a hmm moment, as I felt he had quite a bit of "action"

10 minutes into the ride, I said the the instructor " Is it me being out of practice, or does Troy have quite a bit of "movement"? "

Was quite relieved to be told that no, it wasn't me, he was indeed a horse like that, even at walk!

The person riding behind me said that he swung his rear like a salsa dancer!

No wonder I felt like I was getting a full hip work out! grin

An exhilarating way to spend a few hours phoenix, it’s great that you managed it. You’ve probably never forgotten how, a bit like riding a bike.
I hope you’re not “saddle sore” tomorrow! ?

I wondered whether or not to look at this thread grin

Well done, I haven't tried to get my leg over for years but a horse ride through the forest sounds delightful.

Well done Phoenix - my dad has always said ‘If you stop doing what you’ve always done, you won’t be able to do what you’ve always done’. And he’s right..... keep getting your leg over......?

grannylyn65 Wed 22-Jul-20 17:57:01

Last time I did that I couldn’t walk for 3 days ?

Thank you all!

Used to be quite proficient years ago, a bit of competitive dressage even!

But very rusty and unfit, as I discovered!

Planning to do it again though, may even have a couple of lessons!

You are brave Phoenix. I was wondering about The 'leg over'bit but relieved it was a horse!

TrendyNannie6 Wed 22-Jul-20 17:01:28

Oh this post has made me really laugh! I wasn’t thinking about a horse, I love your posts Phoenix, well done you, I haven’t ridden for years

mary51 Wed 22-Jul-20 16:59:18

That made me laugh and quite envious too, that you can ride a horse.

The first few lines I thought you were simply going up some steps!

{smile}

merlotgran Wed 22-Jul-20 16:58:15

grin grin

I do envy you, phoenix but I wouldn't dare risk my knees now.

A passable rising trot would finish them off.

phoenix Wed 22-Jul-20 16:54:19

Well, I admit it was quite a struggle, even with assistance. The steps helped a bit, but I just couldn't seem to get it high enough. I think the footwear didn't help, or perhaps the place it was supposed to go in was too small? confused

Anyway, it was pretty undignifiedblush but in the end I managed.smile

Afterwards my legs felt like jelly (I suppose it was only to be expected, under the circumstances, after all its been a long time, 30 years actually)

But I was pretty chuffed that I managed a 1 hour horse ride through the forest! grin

Even did a passable rising trot!
