Make a call centre worker happy!

Although they’re so annoying, I do always try to say no thanks nicely to any cold callers trying to flog me something, though we don’t get many any more.

This is largely because a dd once had a holiday job in a call centre (cold-call selling) - she absolutely hated it and only lasted about 10 days. As she said, it’s not much fun being told to f*ck off all day long.

I need to get out of the habit of telling people to stay safe,seriously,why wouldn`t they.
That being said i have thanked all of the shop workers and bank clercs who have served me and put themselves at risk of covid19 and the suprise on some faces were priceless, bless them all.

Talktalk have closed their call centres and their recorded messages insist you contact them online.
I was calling because my broadband was down!
That is a Catch22 situation! ?

I had such excellent service from my bank’s employee recently I wrote an email to him stating that and asked that he pass it on to his manager.
It might mean he won’t be made redundant.

The call centre worker could be your mum,dad, sister etc. Generally , if you are calling with a problem it won’t be their fault and most of the time they are very helpful and courteous. We should be too.
Unfortunately by the time we get to a human we are sick to death of the helpful little messages and the awful music we have had to endure. We are cross before they even pick up the phone.
Why do they keep telling you to go online? We’ve probably already tried that.

I always say thank you, even when they haven't been much help.

I recently had to phone a government department twice. Both times I had to hang on, once for 10 minutes and once for 15, but the recorded voice told me how long it would be, correctly, at the start of both calls. Then I was bombarded by the recording telling me that unless my call was urgent I shouldn't hold on as they were short-staffed and very busy, and so on and on, which was a bit annoying.

Both times, when I finally got through, I got pleasant, polite women who were very helpful, and of course I was polite too. We had short conversations and parted on good terms, and I hope they felt as pleased with the encounters as I was.

I don't understand why some people are rude to call centre workers, even if they are complaining about something, as it probably isn't the call centre worker's fault, and anyway, you are much more likely to get help if you are polite.

Phone scammers. on the other hand - open season on them!

If I’ve rung them to sort banking, insurance etc I’m always polite and friendly. If it’s an unsolicited call then polite is all they get.

I always end call with “thank you, you’ve been very helpful” (if they have helped). Daughter worked in a number of call centres so I’ve heard stories of some of the rude callers.

I am always polite to ever I speak to on the phone, I even say please and thank you to our Alexa and Sonos devices, which the family thinks is hilarious ?

I've had the odd cold caller who said 'How are you today?'. When I've replied 'I'm fine thanks. How are you?' They have said 'Blimey. No one usually asks.'

It's one of those little things that costs nothing, but can make people feel respected and valued, and we all need that!

I always say something nice too because one of my sons worked in one while he put himself through university. He often said what a difference it made to the humdrum of his shift when someone was pleasant, few and far between I believe.

I always ask them where they are and what the weather’s like. I enjoy chatting with people in other regions.

I spoke to a call centre worker yesterday and told her I was pleased that she could pronounce my name as so many people can't. I did thank her for being helpful.

I always say thank you and try to remember their name.

I always make a point of thanking them for their help - that always seems to be appreciated
