Oh soop poor MacSporran. I am sure you will have dealt with his wounds properly but don’t hesitate to get the nurse to look him over if they don’t heal well. After DHs fall a few weeks ago when he took the skin off from elbow to wrist, he had 4 weeks of visits to the nurse before it healed enough to go without dressings. It must upset you so much too. So glad he has decided to take things a little slower now. Take care of yourselves do. You are both precious to us all.
Nice to have a haircut charleygirl . Makes your head feel lighter doesn’t it ?
Lovely little Max anno

annodomini Tue 25-Aug-20 12:17:02

Little Max isn't mine, Doodle. He's Hellogirl's GGS. Mine is Big Max and getting bigger all the time. grin

annodomini Tue 25-Aug-20 12:21:38

soop, I hope you've hidden/buried or otherwise disposed of that chainsaw! How is MacS's poor head today? The skin on his scalp must be very vulnerable. xx

GrannyGravy13 Tue 25-Aug-20 12:28:49

Hello dear kitchen friends ?‍♀️ I have just finished my ironing, have the washing drying in the tumble drier and de-spiderwebbed the kitchen-diner.

soop my DH is 70 in December I have to remind him that he is no longer 50 and that there is no shame in getting someone in .

I am trying to toddler proof our home once again as DD is back to work in two weeks and we have the baby (he will be eight months beginning of Sept) for three days a week. I feel guilty but the playpen will be brought out of retirement, it is the safest play to deposit him if I need to go to the door or visit the lavatory.

Sorry I haven’t been baking this week so no treats to leave.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Aug-20 12:38:53

grannygravy I could do with a playpen today. My dgs has decided not to go for a sleep this morning despite being very tired and rather grumpy. We are watching the Disney channel at the moment before I dort his lunch. It is unusual as he normally goes down like a lamb. I'm thinking the awful weather is maybe keeping him awake. Soop I hope your other half is alright today. I would imagine a very stormy sea where you are! Take care all.

soop Tue 25-Aug-20 13:14:09

Hellogirl1 Little Max is very like his sister Grace. They both have the most beautiful eyes.

We have returned from paying our respects prior to the church service for the lady who died recently. Although our village is small, the villagers turned out in a good number, in the heavy rain.

I was sleeping late (after a disturbed night) when the telephone rang. More sad news. A lady of whom we are very fond has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. She was one of the busiest and most friendly ladies in our village. Her deterioration has been over a matter of a few weeks. She is in Oban hospital. This is a truly sad time for all who know her.

MacSporran's arm has been given a fresh dressing and we've used an inodon medicated strip over the area where he has lost his skin. I believe that we'll have to see the GP. His skin is like paper tissue. The head wound looks awful. He keeps saying how sorry he is. I tell him that I understand why it is he feels so frustrated. Neither of us can manage to do a fraction of what we found common-place. We MUST accept our limitations. hmm

I apologise for being a bit down in the doldrums. It's been one of those days. A virtual (((group hug))) is on the agenda.

cornergran Tue 25-Aug-20 13:47:23

A warm, gentle hug from me soop, we all get down at times, tomorrow will seem better flowers.

Grandmabatty Tue 25-Aug-20 13:55:52

I'm sorry Soop. You are having a hard time of it. Bad news really brings you down. ?

GrannyGravy13 Tue 25-Aug-20 13:58:18

A virtual (((hug))) is on it’s way soop ?

Charleygirl5 Tue 25-Aug-20 14:36:46

N&G do you think the alpacas survived that trauma? Great to hear that the boys enjoyed themselves.

soop I know that MacS means well and is trying to save money by doing the heavy work himself but I go hope he will not have another go and his wounds are not painful and are healing.

Hellogirl what a handsome young man with a face full of innocence. I doubt if he could put a foot wrong!

Are your sheds still standing or have you been picking up bits and pieces from the innards down the road?

The sun is peeping out here. I was trying to pay for a new TV licence and this machine stopped me in my tracks.
Please look after yourselves.

soop I am technologically challenged so I cannot send a photo of my hairdo. I finished it off last night to my satisfaction!

Susan56 Tue 25-Aug-20 15:44:51

soop, sorry you are having such a difficult time?

soop Tue 25-Aug-20 16:49:54

I am so lucky to have you lovely lot. flowers

I haven't done a thing. The dishes from lunchtime remain unwashed. My inner self is well and truly deflated. It's time for me to do something useful. Whether I want to, or not.

I shall return in the morning. By which time, I hope to be better company. smile moon

Hellogirl1 Tue 25-Aug-20 17:11:01

So sorry to read about MacS`s awful experiences Soop, and I do hope he is feeling a bit better by now, you too. Please give him my love and best wishes x
The wind is blowing a hooley, has been all day. One of my wheelie bins has gone over, but as I`m none too steady on y feet right now, I daren`t go out to pick it up, despite the fact that my kitchen bin badly needs emptying, it`ll just have to wait till things calm down, hopefully very soon.
Anno, our Max`s are getting well and truly mixed up!

NanaandGrampy Tue 25-Aug-20 17:58:55

Evening all,

Oh dear Soop , poor MacS!! I truly feel for him . I have a clumsy Grampy and I now have to firmly stop him doing things with chain saws and ladders because he is guaranteed an injury. He hates it !! They are things he has always done . I now present him with a fait accompli. I have a willing accomplice in a young lad in our village who does that sort of stuff for us.

I tell Grampy he is now in a managerial position :-)

If we have picked our plant pots up once Hello we have done it 20 times today. Storm Frances is roaring across Norfolk with a vengeance.

The alpaca seemed exceptionally mellow chaps Charley and easily bribed with a handful of dried grass. I think they made it through.

The excitement here today was a trip to the optician !! Who'd have thought it eh?

Wishing you all a good evening x

Nannytopsy Tue 25-Aug-20 20:14:40

Dear Soop I hope you are feeling much more like it by now. A difficult few days. DH is rather down - more infected legs and so a new treatment is being tried. Iodine dressings are so incredibly painful when applied to large areas of raw skin. Paracetamol don’t really touch it! He doesn’t know what to do with himself at the moment and is very frustrated.
I tried to descale my iron today but now the holes are full of black, burnt on gunk. A new iron perhaps?
Sleep well everyone despite the wind.
X

Galen Tue 25-Aug-20 20:53:39

soop I’m blaming you for my current addiction to Magnums!

soop Wed 26-Aug-20 14:03:09

Arrgh...I looked in the freezer and guess what - not a Magnum to be had. I blame Galen.

Dear Nannytopsy, sorry to hear that your husband is having to deal with more pain and distress. Life can be so unfair.
My advice regarding the old iron; ditch it and treat yourself to a smart new version.

Hellogirl1 I demand that you stay indoors away from the likelihood of further falls. You know that it makes sense. So there. wink

NanaandGrampy Dear MacS has taken heed of my warnings. He has promised not to attempt further tricky jobs in the garden. In fact, our new neighbour came in for coffee, saw the bodily damage and has offered to cut the hedge for us. We're to pay him with a bottle of his favourite Vodka. Sorted! grin

Our friend in the village has been transferred from Oban to Paisley hospital. Not only has she a tumour on her brain but one in the bowel. she is just a year older than I am. She has no sense of who she is or where she is. Just a month ago, we met outside the village shop and had a good natured blether. There was no sign of anything being amiss.

Charleygirl5 Wed 26-Aug-20 15:25:39

soop that is so sad.

I am pleased to hear that the hedge will be trimmed.

There is some wind here but it is mainly sunshine so my washing is drying.

Magnums- who mentioned Magnums?
TOYA

annsixty Wed 26-Aug-20 15:35:48

A very sad day here, two people found dead in their home on the road I live in.
As is the way these days we did not know them, they moved in about 18 months ago.
Lots of police activity and multiple cars and vans about.
Such a tragedy for them and their families.

NanaandGrampy Wed 26-Aug-20 17:15:37

Afternoon all,

Sad news Ann , poor people .

I’m glad to hear MacS has seen sense . Men eh? I’m sorry to hear how quickly your friend has deteriorated Soop .

Another sorry to NannyT over DHs legs . Sounds very painful. I went through an extended period where I had thin skin on the back of one legs that tore continuously and was very painful. I used manuka honey dressings on them and haven’t had any trouble since.

I am off for a lie down again, sadly I have a very upset tummy and feel a bit under the weather but I am sure I will be fine tomorrow, so see you all then.x

soop Wed 26-Aug-20 17:49:26

Get well very quickly, N&G. It's not like you to feel out of sorts. flowers

ann What an awful shock. Were they elderly? Our wee community is one in which everybody knows everybody, and news spreads like wildfire.

Charleyg It's funny weather here in Kintyre. It did rain a lot yesterday. Today is brighter and warmer, but nowhere near as wonderful as it was just the day before last. I do feel sad for the people in Wales who, having barely recovered from the Covid lockdown, now have serious flooding to their homes and businesses.

I've ironed all the bedlinen and am aglow. Time for a cup of refreshing tea and a look at today's crossword.

Thinking of you all. Wishing you well. Still awaiting news that the expected baby has been delivered. Every time the phone rings, I think that he/she is at least thinking seriously about getting a move on. I promise that you lot will know as soon as I can log on to share the news. smile moon

cornergran Wed 26-Aug-20 17:53:34

Afternoon All. Seem to be far too many poorly people about. Take it easy everyone.

I wish Mr C was as sensible as macs. soop. I’ll keep trying - and nagging. I’m so sorry about your friend, a very quick deterioration.

Medical day for me today. Blood test this morning, totally pain and bruise free. A much needed visit to a new dentist this afternoon. I seem to see them once and they leave hmm. A very pleasant and thoughtful young woman, sadly I can avoid treatment no longer. sad. She did inspire confidence and I’m determined not to worry about it until the day comes.

That’s very sad news ann, something like that reverberates I think.

Hope to see some family tomorrow so looking forward to that.

Take care everyone, a special hug for the poorly ones, TOYA.

Grandmabatty Wed 26-Aug-20 17:55:04

Such sad news from some posters. I wish only peace and health to those who are in need of it. I'm feeling a bit wabbit myself so signing off til tomorrow.

annsixty Wed 26-Aug-20 18:22:07

The couple were 69 and 72 and sadly it is being treated as a murder ,suicide.
Everyone is in shock, this is a quiet residential area with no visible problems at all.
I think lockdown has such a lot to answer for, it must have caused so much depression and mental health problems?
Take care of yourself and all your loved ones tonight.
Life is very precious.

MawB2 Wed 26-Aug-20 18:36:49

Ann how dreadful.
I was just reading about a theory that some previously assumed “murder/suicides” are now suspected to be the work of a serial killer.

Apologies for the length of the link, but this sort of thing.

Commiserations to Soop and macsporran -I hope not too damage was fine and that he will soon mend.
Nannytopsy too - my sympathies on Mr NT’s legs- life is seldom easy, but you are all so cheerful!
